Harry Potter Movies Boxed Set??

I am seeing some good prices for pre ordering the box set of all the Harry Potter dvd's. We don't generally buy dvds, unless it is something we will watch again and again. I know we will get good use out of these as we all love them.
However, I am a little blah about the current box set being offered. There are zero deleted scenes or special features etc.
So my question to you is buy now for Christmas while I see a good price? Or wait until they release a special edition or more comprehensive set?

I'd wait until next Christmas when they release the special edition set. The set they are releasing now is just the bare bones with none of the special content (that makes it worth buying the whole set IMO).

Best buy has the indiv. movies on sale this week for $4.99 each!.
I got all the movies available 1-7 part 1. If you get them on-line you get free shipping too. Just be careful because there are numerous versions of each movie so you have to get the $4.99 ones. I think they are wide screen

DM just ordered the complete set in DVD on Amazon for DS's birthday for $49 with free shipping. We're not big on owning movies so didn't bother waiting for any special editions, and it was a good deal. I believe blue-ray is $80.

Warner Brothers is going to stop sales of the Harry Potter DVDs on December 29. They are following Disney's model of increasing demand by stopping sales of certain films. There is no word as to when they will be re-released. There will probably be stock available for a while, but if I wanted these, I'd order them now.

walmart has all the movies for $4 now. and from what i hear harry potter will be put in a vault disney style, so id pick em up now if youre really wanting them.

If you are huge harry potter fans and like seeing the extended scenes they show on ABC family and stuff, i would wait for a year and get the special edition box set next holiday season. i bet it won't be super expensive prob $60-80 depending on where you get it from.

DD is a huge harry potter fan and will wait for the special edition set next year.

ABC family always shows the films so if you need a fix or they are on HBO.

Check Amazon.uk - yes, the United Kingdom site. As long as the Bluray or DVD is Region A or Region Free (as most Universal releases, including Potter, are) you can watch them in the US but the UK Amazon site is frequently much cheaper. For instance, all 8 HP blurays with three special features discs (not included in the more expensive American boxed set) can be had for roughly $45 US including shipping right now on pre-order. They will be UK packaging, so they'll have the UK age codes on the boxes instead of US (numbers instead of PG-13, for instance) and the first movie has the UK original name of Philosophers Stone instead of Sorcerer's Stone. Otherwise, you just save $30+ and all you have is a little bit of an extra wait for the shipping across the pond.

OK ~ order complete *I love that it says Not yet dispatched. It really is a good deal - I prerodered this set ~ my total cost is £30.00 which is roughly $48
This is the closest comprable set *with no bonus discs.... I'll be getting 11 discs, the US version is 8.

We are always disappointed that the extended scenes aren't actually included in the whole run, but tacked on as extras. Why does Warner Bros do that? We actually prefer watching on ABC Family a lot of times because we can see all of it (even if we have to view commercials).

We have them all on DVD and the later ones on both with Blu Ray (they were just so cheap). I had planned on buying the boxset this year, but when I saw there were no bells and whistles I was like nope... I wait!
