Well I don't "know" but from what I've read and heard, sounds like it will be a spiderman type of ride with a car that travels along through sets and different 3-D video screens. The robo arm is for simulated flying, so you may be flying on a broom, ??? Possibly. The arm/car is definitely for simulated flight I betcha, no other reason to lift the car than for flight simulation. Sounds like to me its going to be a cross between Spiderman and Soarin' at Disney.

Was this your clue?

I wonder if they will be actual brooms kind of like how ET did the bikes? Wonder how that would work?

At 6 Flags in Georgia the Superman ride picks you up and tilts you to a horizontal plane so you "fly" through the ride (awesome effect, btw) so the technology certainly exists to have you fly a broom.

I'd be surprised if riders were placed in a flying position. I think we will just be sitting.

I’m really hoping that they have honest to goodness 3-D scenes you go through as opposed to just screens with 3-D images. Like, you’ll actually go through the forbidden forest, or/and the chamber of secrets, and get to fly on the quidditch pitch or something like that…based on the polls that were on the official website I wouldn’t be surprised if a Basilisk, Dementor, and/or giant spider were to pop up in this ride, quite literally.

However they end up executing the actual ride, those robot-arms can do crazy stuff, so it’s bound to be great. :thumbsup2

Look at the clip and imagine you're one of the VW's riding on a track,it's going to be something to that effect,I'm just hoping the ride will be somewhat thrilling.I know they can make these KUKA robotic arms to do some crazy things as intense as many coasters.I don't think they will go that far as this is the main new ride for Potter and thus has to have most people be able to ride it.

Those robotic arms are way cool! So I am guessing they will be on a track and move through different rooms in the castle, to different scenes. I think it will be a great ride and I can't wait!

Bit of a misleading thread title, which you may want to amend. We're all excited about the new ride, but lying on the title to get people to read your threads is not the way to go about generating good discussion :)

AND...maybe you'll have a wand (laser) to provide the added thrill of killing the dementor and scoring points for your house (like MIB)...

Wow, that's pretty amazing! Even if it's a less intense version it will be awesome! I can't wait!! :goodvibes

Paul Daurio, show producer for the Wizarding World, said the attraction "couldn't be further from a roller-coaster."

I've been giving this some more thought, first off I agree with your post. I think ideally, what they should do is use the ET technology more or less for the actual car (sounds like with the jib arm that it won't be exactly like that, but in any event, making the brooms kind of like the ET bikes).

You go through a combination of 3-D screens and actual live sets, like I picture a spot where they hit you with fog, you accellerate on the car/broom, all while simultaneously giving you a 3-D image on a large screen ahead of you that you are flying. Real smoke passing through you can combine with smoke on the 3-D screen. Then you get chased by dementors etc.

I bet it will have an ET feel, but faster, almost like a coaster in spots (ala mummy) with 3-D like Spiderman in combination.

For those of you who either don't know or don't remember...part of the deal Universal made for HP was the exclusive use of the Kuka robotic arm for a number of years. That was a little publicized second deal behind the WWoHP announcement in 2007...everyone was so excited about the WWoHP that they didn't remember the other part....Disney did. Disney was working on a dark ride with that technology based on The Incredibles and had to stop since Universal now had the rights to the technology. I don't remember how many years this agreement was for.

this is a kuka robatic arm

Now imagine that on a flat track with a vehicle on the end

Something like this but with a flat track.

Isn't Disney actually doing something with these KUKA robotic arms right now in EPCOT's Innoventions called the Sum of all Thrills.I hear something about you design your own ride and then ride it.I don't know much else about it other than it's supposed to open soon.
