Harry Potter Complete Book Spoiler Thread

Maybe its that harry looses the scar after Voldemort dies, and its, he was so used to looking at his scar. Or maybe it's even though he was killed so brutally, he had only one scar...

...i don't know....

Oooooooh, good one!! I'm intriqued! ::yes::

From what I got reading the interview with JKR, the final word of the final chapter is "scar" so I don't think Harry will die. I have been thinking something along the lines of "...and now, finally, the scar was just a scar."

I like the way piglet_too thinks! Lol! I really hope that's true.... I'll also go into denial if he dies!

Ohhhhhh I like that one!!! That's great!!

I like Piglet's theory.

I don't want HP to die. I would be upset and my kids would really be upset. I know JKR has said that she expects her audience to age with the books but there are a lot of kids like mine who started reading the books just a couple of years ago. As I said much earlier in this thread, I don't know what the long term appeal of the Potter books is if the reader knows HP dies in the end. I understand that JKR may not care since she is richer than the Queen. However, her publishers expect to make as much profit as they can. :confused3

Well JKR has been planning the books out since she came up with the character Harry Potter. She has her story set, and she's been sticking to it this long so I'm sure whatever happens to Harry the publishers wont effect her decision. I'm starting to have this doubt that Harry will die, but it could still happen, and as true fans we must be prepared to face anything ;)

I just finished the book, and I am totally bummed out. I have never been so disappointed in an ending to anything in my life. I have no interest at all now in the next book or anything else concerning Harry Potter. JMO :sad2:

This 44 year old "kid" will be CRUSHED if Harry dies in the end! And while I realize she doesn't need the money - I would think she'd care about creating a long lasting and well beloved children's classic. I just don't think it would be as well beloved in the future if kids know he's going to die in the end!

I'm sorry - my FAVORITE line in the entire book. Page 578, Ch 26:

"I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you."

this totally made me choke up.
O M G!!! I haven't finished reading this entire thread . . . yet, but this is SO my favorite part, too!!! I could cry just thinking about it!!! I cried for the last hour (or more) until I finished it!!! I am SO sad that s/he died!!! (Don't know if it was "revealed" yet.) Someone else who read the book said that she doesn't believe it . . . the person will come back in the next book. That's what I'm going to believe . . . :goodvibes

There are so many other disturbing things goingon in the book - the use of the word "slut" hardly registered with me.

Me either!!

I don't think AD will be returning. I've been predicting he'll die since the fifth book. After they killed off Sirius I was sure AD had to die. If he hadn't Harry would have never been able to fight the final battle alone. So after his first protecter died, i assumed AD would too, I just didnt expect it in the 6th book.

Yes! That's what I was trying to say before. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I don't believe that Harry will die.

That was my favorite line too. I cried harder when Dumbledore said that, than when I did when he actually died (We've already talked about his "death" on here.)

How are we going to wait until book 7? Does anyone know when it's supposed to come out... like has JKR said anything about it?

I am so glad that you all cried, too!

I just finished the book Tuesday because I decided to re-read books 4 & 5. I had missed some of the more subtle things in 4 and I had forgotten some pretty important points in 5 so I was glad I read 4, 5, and 6 all in a row.

I am just SICK that Dumbledore died. It was so SAD! And I don't think Snape is good - I think he is evil. True that with Polyjuice and Imperius Curses that people are not always as they seem, but I do think Snape is evil. I think he KNEW Malfoy wouldn't be able to do it when he promised Narcissa he would help. I think Snape knew from the moment he made that promise that he would have to kill Dumbledore himself.

I hope Book 7 is released quickly! It seems like she already knows what Book 7 will contain so maybe it will come out faster than the time between 5 and 6. How much time passed between the releases of the first 4 books? I don't think it took YEARS between them, did it?

When I heard the last line of the last chapter will be "scar", I immediately thought of the movie Casa Blanca, and the song "As Time Goes By" modified slightly... You must remember this, a Kiss is just a kiss... A Scar is just a SCAR."

:jumping2:

As we were watching the Chamber of Secrets tonight, my 14 yr DD had an observation. When Harry, and Ron were visting Hermoine Ron said he remembered the name Tom Riddle from all the trophey's he had to polish as a detention. Could it be that one of the Horocruxes is in one of Tom Riddle;s tropheys?

Could it be that one of the Horocruxes is in one of Tom Riddle;s tropheys?

I don't think it is for two reasons.

First, it has the name "Tom Riddle" on it. Voldemort hates that name. It's a common name, a Muggle name, and he abandoned it as soon as he could. Voldemort wants nothing to do with the name Tom Riddle.

Second, it's been in the trophy case at Hogwarts for all these years. As we see with the ring and the locket, Voldemort hides his horcruxes well, and guards them with a series of complex magical enchantments.

I had that thought, because someone posted earlier about the slugs (that was the same day as Ron's detention), and I think they said something about the slugs getting fried up when they hit the trophey. I didn't remember that, so I went back and re-read that part in the book, but it only said Ron had to polish it a million times because he kept having slug relapses on it, nothing about them getting fried up. After I realized nothing special happened with the trophey, I realized it can't be a horcrux, because: 1) The book wrote back to Harry, and possessed Ginny. 2) The ring turned Dumbledore's hand black. 3) They couldn't open the locket (back at Grimmauld place).

Did anyone ever consider, that there were only ever 6 total horcruxes? Maybe Voldemort was planning on making the 7th from Harry's death, but never had the chance.... That would turn things in Harry's favor

There are six. Voldemort wanted to split his soul into 7 pieces (7 being the most magical number).

The seventh bit of soul is what still resides inside Voldemort. That leaves 6/7th left = six horcruxes.
