Harry Potter Bloopers

I don't know if this has been done before!
Do you love Harry Potter movies too? I just thought it would be fun to start a thread where people could post Harry Potter movie bloopers they have come across when watching those movies. Tell us where they happen, in which movie and what happens. It is all just for fun.

So, who is first?

Ooooooooooooooooh! Me first! I have one and this drives me crazy every time I watch Goblet of Fire. In the scene where Rita Skeeter goes to slap Fluer's face, Fleur winces before Skeeter actually slaps her. Obviously, the actress who plays Fluer knew the script and knew the slap was coming and couldn't stop herself from wincing a second too soon! Not that I can blame her, I would probably blink too if I knew somebody was about to whack me one....!

Another Goblet of Fire error; in the book, Padma and Parvati and in different houses, but in the movie they are both Gryffindors.

And I'm certainly not the spelling police, but I would think that Hogwarts instructors should be able to spell! Professor Moody, when writing the word "unforgivable" on the blackboard actually spells it as unforgiveable.

Ok one more then I'll stop hogging the thread!

In the photo album that Hagrid gives Harry in the Philosopher's Stone we see Harry with his parents. The baby in that book does not look like any 12 month old I ever saw! He looks much closer to a two year old in age. And of course Harry's parents died when he was one.

Oh, just one more from the same movie; when Harry goes to his first potions class we see him taking notes on what Snape is saying. From Harry's vantage point, the writing on his notebook is very small, but immediately afterwards we see the view of his notebook from the front and the writing is much larger.

I've watched these movies too many times...I could come up with a million of these.

One more! In Goblet of Fire, there is a scene where Hermione, Ron, Harry, George and Fred are all together in Snapes classroom. Would students of different grades all be together in that class?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets: In the many and lengthy dialogue scenes between Potter and Dumbledore, with countless facial close-ups, neither of them have glass in their spectacles.

I forget which year Harry was actually born, early 90's though, I think '91 or '92, but in the scene in Sorcerer's Stone (not sure if it's the Philosopher's Stone edition), baby Harry being attacked by Voldemort, is wearing a Blues Clues outfit.

In the Prior Incanto, in Goblet Of Fire, the part where the wands crossed and previous victims came out of Voldemorts wand, why did no unicorns come out?

I'm a Harry junkie, seen all the movies and read all the books.... not recalling this "Philosopher's Stone" everyone is speaking of??? Do you by chance mean Sorcerers Stone? LoL

I saw the Sorcerers Stone the other night and noticed how old Harry appeared in the picture with his parents... lol.

In Sorcerer's Stone, on the train journey, Ron's hair is parted in several different places (Its hard enough to get a kid that age to comb their hair once, let alone several times....lol)

Just in case you weren't kidding around...

When Scholastic bought the rights of the first book to be published in the US, they figured the intended audience wouldn't know what a philosopher's stone was/is. So, they changed the name. The original British title of the book and the British version of the film are both called 'Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone'. The actors had to film each scene with a reference to the stone at least twice due to the name change.

Re: Sorceror's Stone vs Philosopher's Stone

Sorceror's Stone is the US edition of the book, Philosopher's Stone is the British version. Essentially the same book with some terms Americanized (for example, Quidditch field would be a "pitch" in the British version).

Interestingly, as the books have progressed, fewer of these changes have been made. They were originally altered for American audiences with the idea that the British terms would not be understood. As the series has progressed, however, the editors have made far fewer changes from the British terms.

Also, just as an FYI - according to official Potter cannon, Harry was actually "born" in 1980. Don't really know that that matters much in terms of the movies (or books, for that matter), but thought you might like to know!

Here's another one...in Goblet of Fire; when Fred (or is it George) passes the note to Ron telling him he better get a move on and ask somebody to the Yule Ball, the text changes locations. When he passes the note, the text is bigger and towards the top of the paper. When Ron reads it, it is smaller and in the middle of the note!

What has really bugged me is that Harry was born in 1980. The last movie, GOF, would have been around 1994???? Why do they have their hair styled like it is 2006! Nobody wore their hair like that in 1994! (Okay, I admit I also don't like longer hair on boys/men, so to me this style is not timeless and will severely date the movies!)

Also, in POA, Snape finds Harry in the hallway at night and has a conversation with him. During the conversation the strings hanging down from his sweatshirt are placed differently. Every time it flashes to Harry's face, the strings have magically moved!

I was actually kidding because I had no clue... the Philosopher's stone? Odd, it doesn't sound very magical like? Thank goodness they changed it, Sorcerers Stone sounds so much better.

In The Prisoner of Azkaban, the locations of Hagrid is completely different to the first two films. It was previously two steps from the castle door and you could see it from Griffindor tower. Now it's over a wooden bridge and down a big hill.

Goblet of Fire:
When Fleur picks her dragon out of the bag you can see Madame Maxime is standing directly behind Fleur and has her massive hands on the young lady's shoulders. The camera-angle changes and suddenly Maxime is standing off to the side of Fleur and her hands are no longer on her shoulders. This happens instantly.

This has bothered me for a long time. In the first movie Hagrid's hut is made of stone but in the book when Norbert is hatched Hermione comments that he can't have a dragon because he lives in a wood house!!
