Harborside Atlantis exchange--got it!

I put in for an exchange with II August 07 for July 09 for a two bedroom that sleeps eight.

I put in for any week in July starting Fri, Sat or Sunday. Does it really take up to two years for an exchange. I really hope this comes through. At some point I might need to add another place but in searching I realized not all of the resorts on II for Disney hold eight people.

Anyone have any exchanges that came through for Harborside not at the last minute. Airfare etc is a concern.

Thanks!:confused3
While I'm the first to say search as far out as possible, 2 years if you can, it doesn't automatically increase your chances of success. It only does 2 things, it makes sure you're looking when units come in to II and it acts as a tie breaker for someone else who may have similar exchange power but starts later. Remember that the anyone who comes in to the wait list for a given resort doesn't automatically go to the end of the line, depending on their trade power and other priorities, they may go to the head of the line.

Do our Disney Vacation Clubs hold a strong trade value? According to Disney everyone wants to get into our vacation clubs.

How do you know if you have a strong trade?

DVC has strong interest, but its not at the top of the food chain. I am just guessing, but I feel its at the top of the middle. Kind of like upper middle class. Dean is more of the expert on actual trading power.

I do love being a DVC owner SSR. We've stayed there once but usually pick to stay at other DVC's. We were planning to use our DVC points mostly at WDW but exchange also with II. They make it look so easy to exchange and so wonderful. We already cancelled a search for June 08 in February and just paid to stay at a resort for this summer. Really expensive in Hawaii it would of been great to get that exchange. It would be a bummer to never be able to trade our points.:scared:

To be honest, it appears that the trade value of DVC is average to good but not great. There are many top options that will trade better and for some systems, also have an internal trade preference such as Marriott and Westin. Given these are some of the top trade options, that situation really puts you far behind. Think about it, Orlando is overbuilt and II doesn't know what week or resort they are getting from DVC. If DVC members were allowed to pick the week and resort to deposit AND II assigned trade power based on the individual resort and week as they do almost every other timeshare, DVC would have a significantly better trade value, at least if you positioned yourself correctly.
