Happy yet sad about success...does this make sense?

I hope that I can explain myself. I've been overweight (or obese) for half of my life. I reached my limit and started doing Weight Watchers on my own (didn't join) in January. I have been doing fairly well so far. I am averaging just over 2 pounds a week. Some weeks I lose three or four but some weeks I don't lose. I have only gained once in the 30 weeks I have been working at it...and that was the week long cruise plus days in LA before and Disneyland after...and I "only" gained 3 pounds in those two weeks.

So here's my "problem". On one hand, I'm extremely happy with my success. On the other hand, I feel like the second half of my goal isn't going to go as well. I think it's because I just want to get there. It's kind of like being a kid anticipating Christmas in October or any of us anticipating our Disney trips!!

Does anyone else feel like this? Part of it might be that a (supposed) friend is telling me that the last part will be the hardest and it won't come off as fast as it is now.

Anyone have advice on staying motivated on the downhill (ie. I'm just past halfway to my goal) part??

WOW, I'm nearly the same as you, I've completed 31 weeks on WW!! Small world, huh? ;)

Anyway, I'm not sure how much help I'll be, but I'll try to relate my experiences lately....:(

No, the weight is not dropping like flies anymore, the weeks of 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and even 5 lbs, are NOT happening anymore, BUT the weight is still coming OFF!!! THAT has to be your No. 1 motivator!! The last 5 lbs I lost, took me 4 weeks. Whereas, I lost 5 in the FIRST WEEK I joined WW online! BIG difference.

In my case, having lost 55 lbs, I am much more energetic, and able to give a bit more ooomph to my exercising, whether it be longer, or tougher workouts. Also this summer, I have absolutely LOVED being the most active I've EVER been with my kids, mostly my youngest DD, taking her places, and actually DOING things, that I never had the energy or desire to really do before. If I regret anything about this summer, it's that there wasn't enough time (or money sometimes) to do EVERYTHING I wanted to do! ;)

I do also feel that I should BE where I want to be, RIGHT NOW! I hate it. I know I've done great, and so have you ;) , but I want that final dress size NOW! :p And, although the compliments have been flowing for a couple months now, I want MORE......lbs lost that is! ;)

Tonight my mother said something to me, I hope it helps you......"Don't cave in. You've done SOOO WELL, and if you're not where you want to be yet, you're so very close already. Don't cave in." :sunny:

Thanks. It is good to know that I'm not alone. I think the fact that I'm buying clothes for future weights makes it even harder. I'm cruising in November but of course can't wait until November to find appropriate clothes so I have had to estimate what size I will be. For the most part, I can't try things on to even see if they will be flattering. I have to remind myself that it will at least be more flattering than it would be now! I have tried some things on in my current size, if available, and then bought two sizes smaller. If for some reason my weight loss stalls, I'll be scrambling to find clothes or sewing like crazy a week before the cruise!

It's starting to get cooler here but I'm not ready for fall. My clothes from last fall and winter are mostly gone....donated to the Salvation Army. I have a few things that I had to buy at my biggest size and spent a lot of money on that I want to take in but I also don't want to make my mom go through that now and then have to take them in more when I actually need to wear them. The poor woman has taken in most of my summer wardrobe...twice!!

Good luck with your loss. It's great to have the board to find people who have similar experiences. I think that's what I'm really missing out on my not being a paying member of WW yet.
