Greetings!
I just want to step in for a minute and issue a polite reminder. We here on the DIS are a very small and, er, very dedicated

minority when compared to the vast number of people who vacation at WDW every year. The vast majority of Disney guests don't know about codes, the DIS, PINs, renting DVC points, mousesavers.com, AP discounts, etc. Their sole source of information on WDW is from Disney marketing: TV commercials, newpaper ads, Christmas parades, and their sole point of contact is either 1.407.WDISNEY or a
travel agent (and maybe a few are brave enough to book a multi-thousand dollar vacation on-line). So while a few of us may make our vacation decisions based on code availability, Disney offering fewer discounts is NOT going to cause a noticable exodus to off-site resorts.
Personally I feel that, if Disney starts seeing lots of vacancies, of course they'll start offering discounts. However, I also believe that Disney would love to start weaning guests from their code-dependencies ::wink::, so if occupancy rates are fairly high, they might bite the bullet now and minimize/eliminate discounts.
IMHO - YMMV
