My family of four just returned from a very "different" trip to Disney World Dec 15-21.

We were very impressed with the ME service when we arrived in Orlando. We were a little confused about where the ME counter was located. But once we found it we were on a bus and on our way to WDW in 10 minutes. We stayed at Port Orleans FQ. After a couple of stays at Riverside, Coronado and Contemporary, this is by far our favorite. We were assigned to a third floor room, but the CM took one look at the double stroller and assigend us to building four on the first floor, I didn't even have to ask. The housekeeping service was not great, out beds were made and we got the little washcloth animals, but I don't think that the bathroom floors, counters or toilet were cleaned during our entire stay.

The weather was very different than I expected cool (almost cold) and cloudy and misty. The first few days there were no lines , we just walked on to everything, except Soaring, which I never got to ride. On Sunday the crowds began to pick up and Monday MK was really, really crowded. Much heavier crowds than we have ever had on our Summer trips. Tuesday was even more crowded in Epcot and AK.

Here is were our trip took a horrible turn. For dinner on Tuesday night me, my husband, and my almost 3 year old dd had Fish and Chips from the England Pavillion. At 1:45 am all three of us woke up violently ill. Not a pretty sight when there is only one bathroom! We were still throwing up at 9:00 Wednesday morning. I called the front desk to find out if we could check out late from our room, our flight was not until 6:45 (we were supposed to spend the day in MK). I explained our situation and the CM put me on hold for about 5 minutes. When she came back to the phone she said we could stay in the room until 12:00. Knowing how sick we all were I said we needed longer, the CM said we would have to pay a 50% surcharge. Now this made me a little upset, since it was Disney food that we got sick on. She put me on hold again and then said we could stay in the room until 1:30.

The manager gave us a non expiring one day pass to the parks, which I guess with the new MYW tickets will only save us a couple of bucks on a 6 day hopper. I was too miserable yesterday to realize this and thought it was a nice gesture. Now I realize that it is pretty much nothing in the way of compensation. We (especially my daughters) are very dissapointed about missing our day in MK, nothing can make up for that. The manger said that it probably was not food poisoning but he would file a report, but I probably would not here anything back. This REALLY upsets me! I am a huge Disney fanatic, we do not take vacations to anywhere else unless we can afford to do it in addition to a Disney trip. But I am not feeling the magic right now!

We missed the time for our airport check in, and the CM at the concierge desk was down right rude to me when I asked if we could still check in. Another CM over heard and came over and smoothed over the situation. So we left our bags at the luggage storage. We were supposed to be picked up by ME at 4:00. No bus showed up until 4:30, and it was a cruise line bus. The driver said there was some problem and if we had any questions or comments to contact our hotel. Then we sat in traffic and did not get dropped off at our stop at the airport until 5:45 for our 6:45 flight. The driver just dropped our bags and left. We had to get a sky cab to help us get to the ticket counter. This was not the day that we needed to have to rush, no sleep, no food, recovering from food poisoning, we were wiped out. The line for security was horribly long. We made it to our gate after boarding had already begun, so we could not grab anything to eat. It was a nightmare!

Although I am sure I will soon forget all the bad stuff and only remember the fun we had, the trip ended horribly bad. On the way home I told my husband that this is the first time in my life that I have been happy about leaving Disney World.

Thats just terrible. I'm sorry you had such a poor expeirence. Having suffered food poisoning recently, I really can't imagine being on vacation while sick let alone braving the Orlando Airport! You poor things!

I too noticed the customer service that I thought Disney prides itself on; wasn't as sweet with our trip this year. Other years they would have bent over backwards to meet any of our requests, and this year we were told "No" or "we don't/can't do that" with many of our simple requests. Maybe its because people took advantage of the "never say "No"" customer relations??

Hopefully one bad trip won't spoil your "Disney" spirit.

Thanks for sharing your experience, sorry your trip ended so poorly. At least you didn't miss the flight! :teeth:

You poor thing! I am so sorry that happened. Reminds me of when my IL's were visiting and we all got a horrible, awful, vile virus that had everyone coming apart. With 1 1/2 bathrooms. Hope your next visit makes up for it.
