Sunday we woke up around 8- it was great to sleep this late (that's one reason we prefer inside stateroom-- due to total darkness) as opposed to 5 am on a workday. We had breakfast at Topsiders buffet and had basic assortment of fruits, rolls, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, yogurt, etc.
Afterward, DS and I decided to try jackpot bingo. There were prizes from Vista Spa along with the cash. Unfortunately I didn't win.
There were several movies playing including Spy Kids 2, Lilo and Stitch and Signs. We saw Signs.
Later, we spent some time shopping at Mickey's Mates and Treasure Ketch. DH also stopped at pin trading to get New Year's Eve pin.
The evening's attire both Sat. and Sun. was casual and we were in Animator's Palette. We dressed for the show, "Morty the Magnificent or formerly known as C'est Magic." We enjoyed the show and then quickly went and got a table at rocking bar d to see the cabaret act of rich purpura, the entertainer from sat. He did a family show at 7:45 and an all adult show at 10:15. He was very funny. It is a combination of magic and humor-- very entertaining. The adult shows later in the evening are even better.
After the 7:45 show, we went to dinner. We had 3 people added to our table who didn't care for their tablemates at their other location. It turned out that it was Jamming John, his wife and an aunt-- John was the DJ hired by disney for New Year's Eve to do the main deck party. They were given a free cruise, tips included as well as his pay. He had a lot of inside information since the CM's shared quite a bit with him as he was part of the entertainment staff. They were very interesting, and we really enjoyed their company during the rest of the cruise.
After dinner, we headed back to our stateroom-- these first couple of nights were kind of rough because of 13-20 ft. waves; the winds were listed as gale force. You really felt it. Many were feeling queasy; nobody seemed to question anyone about the norwalk virus-- truly it was so rough people assumed it was motion sickness. We were lucky and did not get sick; but it was the roughest we have ever felt. All 4 cruises we have been on deck 6 which we like; twice in verandahs and last two times inside staterooms by choice. Our room this time was extremely noisy due to the severe winds and rocking of the ship-- there was a loud creaking sound in the bunk (which DS slept in) and a bubbling of water in the walls and floor. It was so noisy that it kept DS awake and we slept on and off all night. Stateroom hostess called carpenter that spent an hour putting shims around bed and wall and it improved somewhat; water sounds were due to drains in floor and rough seas made you hear them. All sounds disappeared once we were in calmer seas in another day or so. This is the first time we have ever had sounds in our room on this deck and I know it was all due to rough seas.
We went to shutters and purchased our welcome aboard photo in a collage arrangement ($9.95) and walked around ship-- found secret deck on deck 7 and vowed to go back there to read one afternoon.
It was cold and late, so we went back to stateroom and watched television and went to bed. I hope we don't sound too dull; there are a million activities all day long, but sometimes we just enjoy doing nothing or just reading and relaxing.
