This seems like the best place to put this...
1) A coworker of mine is taking her family to Orlando next week. They are only spending one day at WDW - specificlaly MK - and while it pained me to some degree to help b/c she kept saying how only a small part of the group was going on this portion of the trip b/c WDW is more of the kiddie place.
But I set my anger aside and tried to act for the benefit of her 4 year old daughter who has never been.
Several months ago I took the first step and asked my coworker if the little girl was into characters. I told her it wasn't cheap, but she might want to consider a character meal. After some discussion and giving her tips on the Website- she booked CRT.
It felt good to know her little princess would be dining in the castle and she assure me she was super vacay planner...so I didn't push thing any further...until this week. I overheard her saying something about an early night for closing at MK, which didn't sound right...so I took a different approach and sent her YouTube videos of MSEP, Magic Memories and You, and Wishes along with some night time tips. She thought MK closed at 8pm, but I was able to clarify for her that it was staying open until 12 the night they were going and all of these things would be options for them to see. After this- she was open to any suggestions I had to offer. In just about an hour...she learned that the wagon she was planning on bringing would not be permitted and that she'd need a stroller, she learned that Dumbo can get a really long line and she might want to consider it first if it's a must for her daugher, she learned there is a rope drop show and that getting there at park opening can make a huge difference in how much you see, and that fastpasses aren't extra $.
2) A contract worker- not even someone who knows me or had ever seen me before that day- overheard someone talking Disney to me. She went out of her way to find me in the kitchen to tell me she's going to WDW for her very first trip next month.
It was the sweetest thing- it's a surprise graduation trip for her little sister and none of them had ever been. She told me about where they were staying, some of the places they were eating, etc. and then asked me for any tips. It's been a long time since I've talked to someone- especially an adult- who has never been. It was awesome to see how excited she was and be able to help her face to face with little tips. She really had done a lot of research already and was kind of that past overwhelmed and just so ready to go, but I was able to give her some pointers on counter service, places to stand for Wishes, fastpass tactics for Soarin and TSM, etc.
Not my normal Disney happy dance sort of things, but it was really nice to be able to help people.
