Happy Anni-birth-aversary...A 33 night Celebration & HHN too.....SF & RPR September 2022 TR

Yet again life got busy and I feel betting but thankfully I’ve caught up again. Glad to see that SW makes up for about shortfalls in your other dining experiences. I love that the chef seeks your opinion on his latest creations. The god there sounds lovely. Can’t understand why other places fail to serve food as soon as it’s cooked and hot.
I haven’t been to Seaworld in almost 20 years so I’m looking forward to your thoughts and photos.
.one maybe had digestive biscuits, condensed milk and cherries?????
Could this be fifteens? Marshmallows, digestives, cherries (15 of each hence the name) and condensed milk. Made into a log then rolled in desiccated coconut and refrigerated and sliced.
I can send you that recipe if you think it sounds right. It’s easy peasy.

We always feel very excited when we`re asked to sample something, it never disappoints! Their standard is so high there, something that a fair few places seem to have lost, I do think it`s lack of experience and bad management, they could learn from Strong Water.

I found what I was looking for!!! It`s similar to Fifteens, but there are 3 different things I had in my mind...one was humourously described as Reindeer Farts, cherry marshmallow balls which are similar to fifteens and chocolate coconut balls. Two out of three have digestives and coconut with condensed milk and all three have coconut in them! It`s a Canadian website and one other lovely one is variations in Nanaimo Bars......delicious!!!

That`ll keep me out of mischief for a few days leading up to Christmas, especially now our weather has changed, it`s nasty out there!!

I liked the look of this place immediately, as I am not a fan of many things aquatic, I have never been to a restaurant like this before, I like my fish on a plate with a nice lemon butter sauce!!!

The reviews, well the recent ones weren`t great, but Janet had been before and others we knew had enjoyed it so we were very much looking forward to it.

i-FqTNRwh-X2.jpg

I didn`t even notice there was a bar to the right as we entered, but we were chatting and it looked a nice little bar with some very unusual features......

Snakes are not my favourite things either!

i-BHKHKkt-X2.jpg

i-jMd3N7X-X2.jpg

i-bZFPdmt-X2.jpg

This place was stunning. As a first timer, it visually attracts you and draws you in to examine those magnificent creatures as they swam rather sedately past folks who were eating, and it was exceptionally beautiful to see them, even if they were a little scary. I had seen Jaws 3 too!!!!

i-nc8j6TS-X2.jpg

We got a nice booth with a superb view, although there isn`t really a poor table to have here, and we settled ourselves in and got the menu`s to have a good look at.

It was the Magical Dining menu we were opting for, it got some good reviews and despite me not being a fan of Magical Dining in general, this one seemed nice and it included parking if you were bringing a car too which is a nice deal for some.

Our photographer took some pics of us, the selfies with him came out blurry, so it`s just the three of us in this one......☺️

i-q5WtqnZ-X2.jpg

Mr Keisha stuck with coke, Janet had the green drink which was named Puffin`s Kiss and was a mix of Reyka Icelandic Vodka, Flor de Cana Rum, Midori, Peach Schnapps and pineapple juice.

Tom had the blue one which was their Margarita which had blue curacao and lime juice, he really enjoyed it, and I had the Tropical Hurricane, two different rums, pineapple and passion fruit with mango puree. I think all 3 cocktails were very nice, and had a decent pour in them.

i-Jdp6WJN-X2.jpg

There were some nice choices on the menu and we already knew what we were having as we had made up our minds weeks ago.....we do like to read a menu or three!

Mr Keisha went for the coconut chicken tenders, they looked really nice when they arrived, the rest of us ordered Lobster Bisque.

i-gTFVsBT-X2.jpg

i-RB6KthL-X2.jpg

I didn`t need to ask how everyone`s food was, we had empty plates all round.....we all liked the Bisque, it was creamy without being too rich and had a good seafood flavour, I`d have paid full price for that dish. Tom is fussy with Bisque, and he thought it was lovely too.

There was a nice little gap between courses, sometimes with Magical Dining as it`s a cheaper option, the restaurants will sometimes rush you through the meal, but it wasn`t like that today, so we managed plenty of chatter, well, we always do anyway, but it`s nice not to feel rushed.

For my entree I had chosen the Salmon which came with a Miso Ginger Glaze, Furikake, Nori, Daikon and Japanese Sticky Rice which is not something I generally like, unless it`s with a curry or Chinese dish, but it seemed to go well with the salmon.

i-kdP8LMD-X2.jpg

The Keisha`s both went for the Rosemary Roasted Chicken Breast, Confit Potatoes, Pancetta, Braised Greens and a very rich looking Shiitake Mushroom Sauce, I had been seriously tempted with that dish, purely because it had rosemary in it, one of my favourite ingredients to use anytime.

i-c8MHXvF-X2.jpg

Tom opted for the Kobe Sliders, and they came with bacon and onion jam, cheddar, mayo and truffle fries which he doesn`t really like but he wanted to try them out. The fries weren`t too badly coated in truffle crumbs so he could brush it off easily, he said the fries were good though.

i-5kFrWMm-X2.jpg

The chocolate desserts looked nice, but Tom and I were tempted by the Key Lime Martini......

i-Bg9qRw3-X2.jpg

Lordy this was gorgeous!!!

It was delicious......everything a key lime dessert should be, it was also incredibly sweet and I knew I`d regret it if I finished it all....so I was very good and only ate around half. Tom finished his but couldn`t eat any of mine as he was so full.

i-CKpHXb3-X2.jpg

I have to say, we thought the food had been lovely, everything came as requested and if it was supposed to be hot, it was hot.....everything had been very tasty and presented well, so we were really glad we had all decided to come here before Howl o Scream. I`d happily go back and eat there again.

I think we were the last ones to leave :duck: .....and we hadn`t realised that our chaperone had been standing waiting to escort us back to the holding area for the event......poor guy, we had just been sat chatting knowing there was plenty of time until the event started and as we started to head out we saw him and he explained he`d be taking us back up, they didn`t want folks wandering around as they cleared the park.

i-CBnXzqw-X2.jpg

i-6zpkdkv-X2.jpg

We did apologise, but he said not to worry as it was normal for folks to wait longer in the restaurant, but we genuinely didn`t know we would be escorted back up......

Back outside it was still hot! But, we headed back to the front to get our wrist bands for the rest of the evening, we were excited now!!

More coming up.....:-)

We headed to the desk where you get your wrist band for the event and we had printed off the paper which we had dutifully remembered to bring with us......and we followed Janet to the desk and when it was our turn she asked for the email as that had the barcode on it.......er, can`t you just take it from the confirmation email??? Apparently not.........so we trotted over to guest services as Tom couldn`t get a signal at all on our phone......nothing. So we hoped if we explained they`d be able to pull up our email and get the code thingy we needed.......so standing in line, which was a short line, but the folks in front all had extra lengthy issues........

When all of a sudden......the Gods were with us and Tom managed to bring the email up, so we trotted back down to the original desk and we got our coveted wrist bands for the evening. I`m sure even if we hadn`t managed to get the email they would have worked something out, but thankfully that wasn`t needed.

I will say, I`m not sure on the order of houses we visited and same with scare zones, so there may be no correct running order and as I don`t know the park very well, I can`t go by backgrounds or scenery the way I can at Universal but you`ll get the idea.

There were 5 Haunted Houses at this event and they all sounded very well themed, I will say we had decided early on that we`d all buy their version of EP, I forget what it`s called, something like Front line Fear, and although there aren`t crowds like HHN has here, we were still very grateful for the perk as some houses regular lines were busier than we expected. I don`t think we`d have got through all the houses and shows if we hadn`t purchased their EP.

I do have to say with Janet knowing the park so well, we were completely in their hands and they marked the park brilliantly for us to experience it the best way possible, and yes, that meant a lot of walking but it was worth it as we didn`t miss anything we wanted to see and we were so grateful for her planning on which order to see it all in. I have to admit, I think I`d have struggled with this one to get the best out of it without them.

i-tz884rt-X2.jpg

i-WWbqJwD-X2.jpg

i-Dm8S7t8-X2.jpg

It is a pretty park, no doubt about it and as it got darker it became very atmospheric and one thing we did notice was the lack of crowds. I don`t mean it was deserted, far from it, but you could wander round and weren`t wrestling elbow to elbow with thousands of folks to get where you wanted to be. This was bliss to have space around us while it still felt like we were at an event with some attitude!!

Within a few minutes we could see the calibre of SA was exceptional!! Although it was still very light, they were in full swing and they were impressive.......

i-ZH2kbw2-X2.jpg

i-njxVhqj-X2.jpg

i-5HfmVKP-X2.jpg

I had heard about this SA from Janet and from a couple of SA friends who worked HHN.....he was quite the star among them all......and he was everything everyone said he was.

He has a very unique persona and was quite terrifying to be so close to him, the sounds he made were animalistic, lugubrious and downright mournfully terrifying up close!! But, he is very talented at what he does as so many folks mentioned him on social media platforms and folks we chatted to in person.

i-sBgsnsN-X2.jpg

i-fC9cmhQ-X2.jpg

i-hpwj66t-X2.jpg

Some of the SA had shovels, and one of their tactics was to drag the whovel along the ground with vigiour and boy did that get you jumping up in the air with fright, not only is it loud, but that grating sound just makes your teeth itch!!!

i-KVtF68X-X2.jpg

We always loved the Blood Bag Girls at HHN........but they had been replaced by a more sedate and supposedly less offensive types of dress worn by the vendors......who decides what`s offensive!!! They were brilliant and we were happy to see SW hadn`t arrived at politically correct dress codes for the ladies who were selling their products, jello syringes were very popular.

Tom always asks before he takes a picture of anyone, especially when it`s ladies in certain outfits, he never wants to just presume, but they are always happy to pose for pictures....they were fabulous!!

i-DP3f3c4-X2.jpg

It was also lovely being able to get pictures with the SA as they positively encouraged picture taking along the paths.

i-NhBBzCr-X2.jpg

i-N77mZV6-X2.jpg

We headed into Siren`s last call where we were going to try some of their drinks, and they had dancers on stages and it was fairly quiet right now, but when we passed later it was much busier, but still not completely mobbed.

i-bpz5rsT-X2.jpg

There were also male dancers on the stages here which is quite unusual, but nice to see.....he was quite cool and was happy to pose for pictures........

How big are those smiles!!!!

i-6KGSK7b-X2.jpg

Someone......and I`m not saying who or naming names as I`m not a snitch.....ahem, nope......won`t reveal which of the ladies in our little group may have suggested we could put money in his little outfit.......it never even entered my mind at any point....:rolleyes1

cv8-Th.gif

😉

i-CXCTXLw-X2.jpg

I will say though, I moved faster than lightning to get $5 from Tom and was right behind Janet to tip the dancer........🥰

And I will admit, I think Janet was more of a lady than I was....she put the tip in his shirt......all I`ll say is......I didn`t, I went slightly further South!!! 😉

i-n4M7zz6-X2.jpg

One of the things we were very impressed with at Howl o Scream was they way they operated the line. It wasn`t just the ever rolling conga line that was synonymous with HHN where you really were rushed through most of the time. They put you through in much smaller groups, in our case we were put through as the foursome we were, so we could really see all the detail and the biggest bonus for us, was to get some very good scares that you never saw coming!

i-dz4cxNH-X2.jpg

As it is now, I don`t remember much of each individual house and the scares they bestowed on us, but I do remember this was an excellent house and I`m almost sure this is one where the SA appeared above us and then got us again as we turned the corner to the next section......it was so much fun!!!

i-ZtcNdPM-X2.jpg

Beneath the Ice was probably our least favourite house......it was still good, but there were corridors where you just walked through to the next area and it was only black walls you were passing with no decor or theme. But, as is always the case, the SA`s performed the heck out of their storyline.

i-LkHhjM2-X2.jpg

Another thing we were very impressed with at SW was the price of their merchandise.....I picked up a couple of stocking fillers for one of my nieces and they were ridiculously cheap!!! I did a double take just to make sure I had read the price right, but Janet did say their prices had always been decent compared to other parks, she was right.

i-SwjDh2x-X2.jpg

I "think" this is Siren`s Scream, where the characters Scratch, Hex, Frost, Darkness and Flame have returned to incur carnage on their delicious victims!!!

And also, the pictures are not the best, they are a little blurry.......darn them for dancing and moving around too much.......😉

i-TxkRh39-X2.jpg

i-792GW2H-X2.jpg

i-j3Jzgnk-X2.jpg

i-mcSmLcq-X2.jpg

It was very good though and very entertaining, those gals can really dance!!!

More Howl o Scream coming up........

especially folks getting jumped out on in dark areas…….lol……they got you good a couple of times!

It was the tootsies the next day that made us realise how far we’d walked……I’d do it again though, so much fun!!
:teacher:I may be easy but, never cheap

I’d put the mileage that day less than a full night at HHN, less than a disney park day. One thing I do appreciate at SW during the day/heat is there is always some shade nearby whether on the paths or the attractions.

You’ve done a most excellent job, glad to the see the pics. Just might have to ahem borrow a few as i dropped the ball that night.

Wow, dining with the sharks looks amazing! They would be worth the price of admission alone, and the food looks fabulous 😻

I didn’t realize SW had a scary Halloween, what a nice event! And how fabulous you had your own personal tour guides with Keisha and the Mr.! Great company really does make everything a little better 🤗

Your drinks also looked amazing. We haven’t been to SW in years, but it looks worth a visit 🥰🥰🥰

I can’t get over your placement of the tip on the male dancer — you are a cheeky monkey 🙈🤣🤣🤣

lol......

I should have added, those pictures of tipping the dancer are actually the ones you sent me, Tom missed that moment......

Yes, there were plenty of shady areas to have a break from the heat. It was hot though that night!

The food was very good and yes, I don`t think we would have accomplished as much or enjoyed it the same without the Keisha`s. Good company is priceless.

lol.....cheeky monkey is certainly a more polite version of what one of my friends affectionately called me!!!! Couldn`t possibly repeat it and I did check with him it was ok first.........😉

Yes, we were impressed with the place, I think Kyle might want to visit for the coasters alone, so I think we`ll absolutely do that, just for the coasters ::yes::

sadly, didn’t see many folks tipping him. :confused3 When in Rome people :). It’s such an inclusive atmosphere there, especially for the haunt. people can let their hair down and have fun at the event in what appears to be a very safe space to me. when Carole sweetly asked him permission, in that classy ‘accent’, his face it up, pretty sure it made his night.

most visitors entrenched in their way just cannot admit it. IMO SW is the place in Orlando for high energy coasters. Not that I can ride those monsters any longer, however, there is plenty else there for me to do. Food quite good at a few of their sites, especially at the BBQ place & their festival food booths That often have an 80’s star serenading the crowd during peak times. They give their sister park, BG, a real run for the money.

since I’ve verged into unofficial cheerleader for SW here , would be remiss if I didn’t mention their single day park tix and seasonal passes are still very reasonable. Additionally, the parent company has a long-standing tradition for various park tix to all US military that were honorably discharged. Majority of the other parks in the area only extend to active, retirees; along with US Dept of Defense employees.

@schumigirl and @keishashadow, it sounds like you all had a great time at SW! I’m also a big fan. I love the coasters. I love the small park feel. As @keishashadow said, they’re VERY generous to military members AND veterans (AND teachers AND first responders).

They’re also leaders in animal rescues and rehabilitation. I was fortunate to have participated in two SW-led manatee rescues, which was very cool. I also support their conservation fund.

I have NOT done Howl-o-Scream yet, so really enjoying this report! Hopefully, I’ll be there next year.

Oh I never noticed not many tipped! Crikey I`d have tipped him again if I`d known! Yes, it did feel a safe space.

I think you`re right about the coasters, they have some corkers and I can`t wait to hopefully try them next year....if I can conjour up the courage!!! The BBQ restaurant did look good, I had a peep at the menu there too. I can see why folks love that park.

And good to hear they are so good with discounts, very interesting to hear who gets those.

We had an absolute blast! And yes, we will go back next year, I love the sound of the new coaster being built now....although whether I actually brave that one or not remains to be seen......Tom and Kyle will go on it for sure!!

You would really enjoy HoS I think, we wished we had gone for two nights by the time we left, it blew HHN out of the park!

Good to see you......:wave2:

All caught up!

While I only ever did it at Busch Gardens Williamsburg I ADORE Howl O Scream! It’s so well done. Everything you said is accurate!

So happy to hear and see that you had a great time can’t wait to hear more!

Thanks BH.......we were very impressed with their Halloween event, it just felt fresh and it was quite exhilerating. But we loved the space we had to walk about during the event, there was plenty of seating and we stopped to buy some drinks and the line wasn`t 45 hours long! That`s before we even praise the event itself!!

Yep, we were so impressed.

More coming up soon.......

I was given a couple of recipes a year or two ago from Canada. I`ve lost them though, they were all (I think) no bake items. One was called something like reindeer droppings or maybe not......lol....one maybe had digestive biscuits, condensed milk and cherries????? Of course I could be remembering 5 different recipes and putting them altogether......they were very popular with all my friends......if you have any idea what they were I`d be grateful!!
Funny I have no idea what these are referring to lol. I have heard of Moose Droppings which maybe similar to reindeer droppings...kind of like chocolate with fruit and nuts in it and just kind of melted and then re-hardened into shapes that look like well...droppings lol

The other one...I have no idea. Though I do find that often when you google things that are "Canadian" often what comes up are "french" Canadian recipes because I hate to say it but the rest of Canada doesn't have that much of its own "cuisine" really....maybe I just don't know it because I'm not much of a cook lol

Looks like you had fun at Sea World..I didn't even know they had halloween events there...I hear you on the not wanting to be a regular there, I have conflicted feelings about those types of places too.

lol....my Canadian compatriate said Reindeer Dropping was just the Christmassy term for moose droppings, no dried fruit or nuts though in this one. I think the guy who does the blog is from Newfoundland, I haven`t read through his whole blog or recipes to be honest, just these no bake ones which are so simple.

I made the Reindeer Droppings for the nursery school party last year and kids loved the name!!!! They`d never heard of anything like that before.

You know it`s funny, a lot of folks said the same thing, they didn`t know SW did anything like that, but, they did it really well and we had a fabulous evening.

Tonight, I post a few pictures of our lovely, adorable, effervescent and much loved "adopted daughter" Lindsey who has appeared in this TR since we met her in May.

Sadly, we were told tonight in a phone call from the very lovely Alex from the RPR Club Lounge, our beautiful girl passed away on December 2nd after being in the warehouse Fire in Orlando December 1st. Three others passed away and one young lady is still critical. There was a fire in the building they stored the pyrotechnics they worked with. A horrible tragedy.

Lindsey, we first met in the Club Lounge in May, and had an instant connection to her, our love of HHN and so many other things made us close in a heartbeat. Alex, who has now been promoted to supervisor there, introduced us and said we`d like her and she was right. We spent time together and met her lovely boyfriend who we soon observed were meant to be together, their closeness and connection was palpable.

Those who read the May TR will have observed her when we got her a tee shirt that proclaimed her boyfriend was indeed Spiderman. This small token blew Lindsey away and later that night we got a thank you email from Spider-Man himself thanking us for looking after his Lindsey when he wasn`t there.

She did become someone we looked on as our little girl among our American Kids as they are affectionately known.

Lindsey soon left the Lounge and went on to become a full time member of the Scenic Decor Department at UOR, working on the houses for HHN in 2022, she had previously worked on Dead Vines Root of Evil house at SeaWorld Howl o Scream in 2021, sharing her experiences and images for us was a joy to see. She proudly told us after we got home in May she was going to be training to do the pyrotechnics for the UOR shows. Another connection we had, as we spoke of our background in Explosives....she would joke she hoped she never blew anything up she shouldn`t.

This year she also worked on the houses, especially the Halloween house which was one we bonded over, and she was also thrilled to become a RIP Tour Guide for HHN this year.......she was the most knowledgeable person on HHN I have ever met.....she knew everything there was to know about the event from the start, we were so proud of her.

We kept in touch regularly and through emails we never lost touch in those short 7 months since we met.

To say we are completely and utterly devastated is an understatement. We loved that little girl who came into our lives and in a very short time became an important part of it. I`m a firm believer most folks come into your life for a reason and she certainly made an impact on our lives in a very positive way.

We will miss her so much, we have sent our condolences to her family and to her sweet partner Devin who we spoke to tonight, he is broken and in knowing Lindsey we can understand why.

It breaks our heart to know we`ll never hear her speak, laugh or ever hug her again, all of those things we planned to do in May. She had an amazing sense of humour and we laughed at the same things. There was one night in the Club Lounge myself, Lindsey and Alex were all outside the lounge struggling to breathe as we were laughing so hard. "Baby Jane"

Yes, we knew her for a very short time, but we feel as though we`ve known her forever.

We will miss that little girl so much, she was 23 years old.

A beautiful image below from her obituary.

Oh my god. My heart already broke hearing about this fire but to hear about Lindsay makes my heart break again.

May she rest peacefully. May the others rest peacefully. May their family, friends and coworkers find peace.

I am so so sorry
