I was just wondering if anyone had bought the happiest celebration on earth dvds? I believe there is one for each of the main parks. Are they any good? And how much are they in the parks? Thanks

I have them!!!

They are great! There is actually only one DVD that deals with Disneyland and I think that is the one they refer to in regards to the 50th. Each of the other DVDs are for each of the four parks. Each one takes you on a tour of the parks (often with characters and on rides!!). It's great for someone who has never been before and also great for someone who is just missing the magic!! They also have extra features that allow you to tour in other ways. For example the Magic Kingdom DVD has an option where you can take a horse and carriage ride! They are all really neat and I am missing them since I loaned them to my sister so that my nephew could watch them!

My DS2 loves to watch them and I think it is well worth the money to buy the set.

Thanks chrome64, I'm glad to hear they are entertaining and worth buying. What is the running time on the DVD's. (I did not buy them on our recent trip because the running length was not marked on the box and none of the several CM's, at several different shops, I asked knew anything about them). I have regretting not buying them while there, and may have to track down a set.

Thanks

I bought them on our February trip. It was $80 for the set--my one big splurge. :teeth: I figure as much as I watch the old planning videos before a trip--I might as well get them.

I've only watched the MK one and part of the one from Epcot. I'm not sure what the running time was--maybe 45 minutes to an hour. I like them because it's not like the planning videos with all the guests commenting, etc. They basically focus on the rides and show the characters. So far, anyway. :teeth:

Ahha, thanks for that. I was a bit 'ouch' at the $80 price tag, but if they're that good I might just have to get them :-)

I kind of dithered back and forth because of the price, too, but ended up just buying them on the last day. I knew I'd want to kick myself if I didn't get them. When you think about it, though, 5 dvd's for $80 comes out to $16 each. Not too bad that way!

The price does seem steep until you consider you're getting 5 DVDs. That comes to $16 each before taxes. Heck, that's about what you pay for regular DVDs at Wal-Mart. And these have Mickey and the gang!! My grandson and I love to watch them. Gets us in the mood for another trip!!

I guess I'll be the spoiled sport... :teeth:
I bought them last trip, and I don't like them at all. I'm going to sell mine on eBay to someone who might enjoy them more than I do.

Believe me, I'm no grump who complains about every little thing - actually, I'm very easily amused and entertained.
I just don't like them. They were shot when the parks were closed, it seems, and the parks just seem very, very quiet. Which is odd. They drop in re-used footage from time to time, the audio quality seems sub-par
I'm just not a fan of the characters they have hosting each DVD, either. (Even though we met and interacted with one of them a lot on our last trip. She was GREAT in person, but I just don't like this approach on the DVD.)

I like the planning video much better.

But that's just me. :confused3
Actually, I like to just watch the in-room resort video on Google video.

If you don't want to splurge on the DVDS then I got a great book on my last trip-Around the World with Disney. It's a 50th celebration book and it shows all the parks from all over the world. It has pictures and information on all the castles as well as ride and charcters and how they differe from park to park. It's a great buy for around $20 but next time I think I may have to pick up the dvds. The planning videos are getting a little old after watching them 100+ times!
