Hanging out laundry to dry

Boy I wish they had that around here...we have to spend the summer looking at my neighbors underwear hanging up and flapping in the breeze!!

Turning off the Dryer and replacing all of the lights with the Flouresent ones has reduced our electric bill by $ 120 per month.

DMIL pointed out to me that all the lint was from the dryer beating up they clothes. She hung out clothes to make them last longer.

I prefer to hang out my clothes... primarily because here in NH we have the second highest in the nation electric costs.... secondly because I like the smell. But I am currently without a clothes line due to a construction project in the back yard. I MISS IT!! I can't STAND spending money to dry clothes on these nice spring/summer days. It seems like such a waste to me!

I like towels dried on the line. I like the rough scratchy way they feel when I dry after a shower. Seems like I am alone in that though!;)

Even though we live in the woods, I have never had a bird poop problem in 10 years. Japanese beetles are another issue however! As I take things off the line I give them a firm shake before I fold them and put them in the basket... it eliminates a lot of hitchhiking bugs from coming in.

When you hang socks hang them side by side (in correct pairs) by the toe... then when you go to remove them, double them up at the top before removing the clothes pins... then just drop the doubled pair in the basket... no need to sort later!.

If you live somewhere cold and plan to hang out in the winter, soak your wooden clothespins in a brine mixture for about a day or so and then let them dry out. It will keep them from freezing to your fingers in the winter!.................P

I hang my clothes up in the winter and the summer. Inside in the winter and outside in the summer. I don't mind the towels hung outside and I never use fabric softener at any time. Very allergic to it all. I can't stand using my dryer so it only gets limited use. The only things I don't hang outside are our underwear and socks. Easier to put it on the clothes dryer I have near my washer. I don't have any problem usually with birds or bugs, although about a week ago a baby bird ended up on my line and didn't seem to know how to get off of it. Being scared made it poop on one of my work shirts.
