Do you use a clothes line to dry clothes in warm and dry weather?

I am sure it is more energy efficient than running a dryer, BUT you should limit what you hang on the line, especially when it's in direct view of your neighbors.

My word to my neighbors....you need more bleach!

Nope. I hang my clothes up to dry, but not outside.

I'm sorry, I will use more bleach on our unmentionables next time.

:(

i dont' need the whole neighborhood checking out my undergarments!

my mom's neighbor hangs her laundry out by size - from the biggest butt to the smallest butt. heheheh

Everything goes in the dryer. I never hang clothes outside to dry.

You said it not me :rotfl:

I'm obsessed with haning clothes out to dry, but I do not hang out under-garments.

I do over 4 or more loads of laundry a day. (Could this be classified as a (Compulsive Disorder).

:earseek:

how's that water bill?

i do 3 or 4 loads a WEEK

I do this sometimes, but I always hang the underwear on the inside lines. I didn't used to, but DH told me that he didn't want our unmentionables out there where people could see them.

My mom hangs out EVERYTHING year round. Let me say that freezing clothes is even more effective at getting them stiff than starch is:earseek: . I once had one of those knit gloves come in with just the middle finger straight up in the air, all the other fingers were down, because of the way the glove froze. And since there's a forest separating us from the neighbors the underthings go out on the line too. Unfortunately you can still see everything from the road.

We have a law in our town that forbids people to hang dry clothes in their own backyards.
I hang up the pool towels once in a while to dry, just so they don't end up wet on the hardwood floors. Most of the time they end up in the wash though.
I do atleast 4 loads of clothes a day as well. We have a wash motion washer which uses very little water.

I think by hanging out clothes it saves $10 a month for an average of 3 dryer loads a day.

Nothing better than climbing into bed made with sheets fresh from the line.

The previous owner of our house didn't even own a dryer. She hung everything. We took down the clothes lines to install the swingset.

There are 5 in our family right now and we do two loads of laundry almost every day.

We can't have clothes lines per our HOA. Everything goes in the dryer.

There's one family in our neighborhood w/ a clothesline. Unfortunately, it's our next door neightbors & they hang out everything . I really don't want to see my neighbors' underwear. Ick.

I never hang clothes outside...I dont like bugs, bird dropping and pollen all over my things....my neighbors have their clothes line right by our fence so we get to see all their underwear etc hanging out there!! If its something that cant go in the dryer I will hang it up in the house to dry but most things go right into the dryer...I love sheets right out of the dryer! When you hang towels outside and jeans they gets so hard you can stand them up, I hate that feeling.

I really don't mind when my neighbors put their clothes out on the line to dry. Maybe it's because I saw it so much in my own childhood. And I don't even mind if they have their 'unmentionables' hanging out there although it would embarrass me to have mine out there that way, lol. Having said that, none of my current neighbors have ever put their laundry out on the line and I don't currently do it. But when my dh and I first married and we were young and poor I did. We didn't have a dryer for a while and then after we got an old beat up one it quit working fairly quickly (not a surprise, lol). It just never seemed like a big deal to me, except for the extra work I didn't mind one way or the other.

I do hang out whenever I can. Our electricity is really expensive here in NH, so it really helps. And we built a deck this summer, so it will be easier to get out back to hang in the winter! (Although I draw the line at hanging when the temp is below 30 degrees!). No one can see my back yard from anywhere other than inside my house! Daytime nudity is allowed in our pool and hot tub, as we are totally secluded from neighbors. ;) ...............P

Once as a Halloween prank to three bachelor roomies, DH and I went to Goodwill and bought the sexiest women's undies we could find. That night we hung the undies up on the guy's clothesline. :jester: :jester:

Ages ago I thought hanging clothes out to dry sounded so cool and natural.
The clothes ended up stiff and scratchy. Plus I was flicking gnats off the clothes while they were hanging outside. And later wondering what I missed! :jester:
DH mentioned the sun would fade the colors faster too.

So that fresh idea stopped after a few attempts. ;)

I don't have a line, but I do have one of those folding dryers to put clothes on. I only use it for my clothes though, and put the undies on the middle rungs! I've had too many of my clothes shrink or ruin the elastic in the dryer. But my kids clothes, towels & sheets on the other hand - those go in the dryer! DH always uses the dryer too - he does all his own laundry!
