Handwich

Have you seen it? I’ve never and the limited googling was all historical anecdotal w absolutely nothing I could find current. I’m both fascinated and repelled

It was a thing back in the early days of EPCOT Center Jody.

Once again the OP has started a thread that they will never revisit.

For anyone curious, the history of the handwich and a recipe are included in the latest official cookbook out for the 50th - Delicious Disney: Recipes & Stories From The Most Magical Place On Earth. Apparently it debuted in 1987 in the Magic Kingdom at The Lunching Pad (now Aunti Gravity's Galactic Goodies). They were invented as a result of a challenge from Eisner to "create 'fun food.'" It was originally called the Castle Cone. The best seller was salami with cheese, red onions & vinaigrette dressing. It doesn't say when they disappeared from menus but they were resurrected briefly for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival in 2017. A Chili "Cone" Queso cone sandwich is currently available at the Cozy Cone Motel in Disneyland.

For anyone considering it, this cookbook is more than just recipes ... a lot of fun history. Highly recommend! It's currently only available on property or occasionally will restock on shopDisney but will be released on Amazon in April.

I got some sort of handwich at the Food and Wine Festival a few years ago. I don't even remember what it was, but it was good.

I worked at the Space Bar (snack bar under the Wedway People Mover) in Magic Kingdom where the handwiches were sold back in the late 80's. They were advertised as the one hand sandwich. We sold a tuna salad, a chicken salad, a taco beef and a bbq chicken version. For a while, we also sold ambrosia salad in a waffle cone as a dessert handwich.

I ate a ground turkey handwich from there during my first ever visit in 1990. It wasn't that good, unfortunately.
