Handling the Florida heat

So we are traveling in the end of August. My wife doesn't want my son missing any school so this is the best time for us to go. The issue is that I am a sweater. So I am trying to come up with ideas on how to contain this issue so that I don't look like a giant puddle. What does everyone suggest. I have heard people mention those cooling towels, but I cant remember their names. I have read the obvious suggestions of taking breaks, staying in the AC, and hydrating but what else? We will have several bottles of water and towels to help me look presentable for pictures but any other suggestions?

Frogg Toggs, I'm in the same boat as you good sir. We are going end of August/early September. We're trying to find places that are cool to break and to take the towels/misting fan/etc.

I bought a camelback hydropack. It's basically a backpack with water in it that has a nozzle you drink out of. I'm going to fill up at the resort with ice and water.

Moisture-wicking clothes. Spray bottle/fan combo. Change of t-shirt if necessary. I was there during record-breaking heat in May once and I just kept flocking to AC..best you can do.

If you are prone to sweating do not wear cotton, it won't dry. Stick to moisture wicking clothes, they will dry faster. Frogg Toggs are nice. I cut them into smaller pieces and keep them in a ziploc bag so I can wet one when I need it and stick it in there when I don't.
I also have a little battery operated hand held fan. Its not a misting fan, but it helps.

Misting fans from Walmart (O2Cool brand is great), Frogg Toggs and lots of water. Definitely make a stop at Casey Jr Splash n' Soak inside MK!

Frogg toggs and other like brands have done nothing imo. I've used 2-3 and they've felt like nothing more than just a damp towel.

To beat the Florida heat:shorts (I usually wear basketball shorts), Nike DriFit shirts, hats, sunglasses if you wear them.

Don't forget breaks into stores or indoor rides. We also take a midday break around noon

We go every August, and honestly there is no handling it. It's just hot. Hotter than the hottest hot. The only thing you can do is try to be in the AC as much as possible (and the pool). I would bring a change of t-shirt if you are concerned about looking too wet, but everyone else will be looking horrible too, so don't worry too much :) I tried all sorts of things (Frogg Toggs, fans, etc) and really the only thing that helps is a really good touring plan where you know where you are going, no backtracking, no wandering. And one where you build in AC breaks in attractions that let you sit and truly cool off for a bit (like the little shows, that kind of thing). Even if those AC breaks aren't at time that you would normally do an attraction like that during cooler weather.

I lived in South Texas for 5 years, and was still TOTALLY unprepared for the Florida heat. We were up and out early, back to the resort after lunch to swim, hang out in the AC until 6 or 7pm. We also brought camelbacks which helped us stay hydrated.

Aside from the Frogg Toggs suggestions--which are great by the way. I also profusely sweat at times and my makeup doesn't last long. I wear cotton socks and lighter colors to reflect the heat--when planning I like to make sure that there are a mix of outdoor queue attractions mixed with air conditioned attractions for the day. Some smaller bar towels that you can keep in a bag or pocket can help keep you from dripping as well.

Thank you ArwenMarie. My family isn't big swimmers so unfortunately I don't know how many pool breaks there will be. But I think just a strategic plan that involves a lot of AC will help. Throwing an extra T Shirt in our park bag might not be a bad idea either.

I have the same issue. I always take some AC breaks and have a fan. I always looked a mess though. I did some research before our last trip and decided on the strategy of wearing casual, light-weight, short-sleeved button downs with an undershirt. I was so much more comfortable and much more presentable for pictures. https://newsouthessays.com/2012/06/22/want-to-keep-cool-wear-more-clothes/

WhollyHeretic I have never given that any thought. I will definitely take this into consideration. Thanks!

during that time of year we all have sweat rolling down our back just walking from the resort room to the bus stop.
our thought is its just how disney in august is gonna be.
we just wear lightweight clothes, wear hats, drink water, and think about the fact that most attractions are inside so we're only a sweaty mess walking from point A to point B.
if we know we are going to meet a character we'll usually head to a bathroom to freshen up by splashing some water on our face.
