Has anyone ever had their hand stamp wash off after and afternoon of swimming in their hotel pool? What happens in the event that it DOES wash off?

I wish I could get it to wash off!!
I have to scrub my hand really hard to get it off.
I remember getting layer on layer for 3 days worth of stamps even though I washed normally each night. I then spent 5 mins scrubbing and FINALLY (complete with red hand) finally got it off.

Unless they have changed the ink...the odds of it coming off during are swim unless you scrub the back of your hand drying off are slim. Maybe just be careful?

I have heard people say it came off with hand sanitizer. I don't know, but probably best not to rub over the stamp. They usually try to put it near your wrist so it is a little higher up.

I always ask the stamper person to please stamp it on kinda thick because I'm going in the hot tub. So far I have nver had it come off, but it can get pretty faded. If you look at it in the light you can see it.

We were there last week and were in the pool almost everday. The stamps never came off. No worries!:goodvibes

i had about 5 stamps on my hand when i finally came home and despite the shrubbing it wore off about a week after coming home from DL

I think I'll just stick a waterproof bandaid over top of it to be safe. Thanks everyone.

Even when the Handstamp has seemed to disappear, it is mostly still visible under an Ultraviolet Light.

This is why you'll see Park Greeter Hosts and Hostesses, particularly later in the afternoon, with UV Flashlights.

We were there in July...first trip to DLR. We were there for 3 days, parkhopped and took afternoon breaks, so had lots of handstamps. I still don't understand what the purpose of them was. You have to use your ticket to get back in and out of all the times, 1 CM actually asked if we had our handstamps and looked at one (of the 5 of us).

So I am still clueless why the handstamps when you have to reuse your tickets to get back in anyway?

Pretty simple reason.
To make sure the person using the ticket is the same each time.
Otherwise you could go in...come out...then give the ticket to someone else to come in.

WDW deal with this by using the finger scanner.

Yes, but if I did this *I* would not be able to go back in? Oh no...I think I've just gone cross eyed (Austin Powers)! :rotfl2:

If that is the case shouldn't you need a hand stamp for each day of a multiday pass too? Or to exit DL and enter DCA? Or is there something built into the system here that I am missing?

Seems a simple ID check would be more efficient than the handstamp.

You do need a handstamp for each day that you use a Multi-Day ParkHopper Ticket. They have a way of telling that your handstamp is from the day of use.

Park Greeter Hosts and Hostesses are supposed to be checking for handstamps on every ticket used for Readmission, with the exception of Annual Passports and Cast Member ID Cards, which all have the Holders picture. If they're not, it is technically against Company Policy.

So if I have a 3 day ticket...I am supposed to have a handstamp to use it the second morning to make sure I am still the same person who used it the day before? No one ever checked in the mornings, of that I am sure!

What if several days lapse between visits...you have 14 days?

You only need a hand stamp to re-enter the parks on the SAME day. If you are changing parks and you have a park hopper, you need a hand stamp. If you are going for lunch at DTD (or anywhere outside the original entry park) you need a handstamp to get back into the parks.

The CM's can tell if the pass has already been activated for that day. If it has, you need a hand stamp in order to be re-admitted to the parks. This keeps you from passing your ticket to someone outside the gates. If you have a regular ticket (anything other than an Annual Pass) you need a handstamp in order to change parks, or to get back into the park you have just left.

Ditto to everything that's been said. Disney uses a different hand stamp for different days so they know if it is valid for that day. And it does take A LOT of effort to get it off. It usually takes me at least 2 days to get one off and it's only after repeated scrubbing with my sponge.

One thing I don't understand is that when we went over the summer, there were some days that they made AP holders get hand stamps too. What's the point of that since our pictures are on them and they can see if on the screen when you enter? :confused3

On days of projected high attendance, Annual Passport holders and Disney Cast Members and Employees may be required to obtain handstamps. This is to help prove, along with the Ticket Entries that they are re-entering the park for that day, as opposed to first time entry.

As part of it's crowd control measures, the Disneyland Resort does reserve the right to close off entry to the Theme Parks to first time entry at any time, and only admit those Guests who are re-entering.

Oooh...thanks for the enlightenment ;)
