hammer toe surgery anyone have it?

Had my hammer toe pinky fixed on Friday. How long till you can wear real shoes. The dr told me I had to stay off my feet for 2 weeks..ugh! I am so bored.
My foot needs to be higher than my heart....how the heck can I stay like this for 2 weeks...did anyone else hve to do this.?

A friend of mine did, and is going in to do the 2nd foot next month. She did have to stay like that for 2 weeks. She had a lot of visitors and had a laptop as well as a DVD player in front of her. It was a rough two weeks and she isn't looking forward to it again.

But she said in the end, the result was worth it by far! Probably why she wants to get the 2nd foot done now too. For her, the hardest was not being able to drive since it was her right foot she had done.
