I'm planning a trip with my mom, and since both our birthdays are in October (19th & 22nd) it seemed a good time.

I'm thinking the 20 - 22 for our trip, but that lines up with one of the Mickey Halloween parties and I'm not quite sure how those work. If we don't buy extra tickets to the party do we get kicked out of DL? What days were the CM parties last year? I'm afraid of losing time since DCA isn't open as late as DL usually is.

My other dates are likely Nov. 17 - 19. Would any of you pick one over the other?

Mom hasn't been in almost 15 years so I want to show her everything.

Thanks!

If you don't buy a ticket to the Halloween party you will have to exit Disneyland at 7pm. DCA will have extended hours that night because of the party!

The weekend you are thinking about in October is UEA and tons and tons of Utahans (????) go to Disneyland.

If you weren't planning on going to the party, I would suggest your November dates, since that is before Thanksgiving crowds should be pretty low!

Disneyland will close at a certain point to those without party tickets and CM's will begin checking wristbands. October 21 (Friday) will have a party that begins at 7 p.m., and you will have to be gone by then if you don't have a ticket. Party guests will be allowed in the park at 4 p.m.

DCA will stay open for WoC and all that. I think it was open until 10 p.m. last year, but I will double check.

I don't think there are any CM parties for Halloween - only in December, for Christmas!

Personally, I would choose Nov. 17-19 because I love the holiday season at DLR more than the Halloween season. I love both seasons in different ways, but the holidays at DLR are infinitely more detailed and magical. Also, it's more likely to be cooler weather in November than in October. BUT, because your birthday and your mom's birthday are in October, you may as well go in October! It's a lot of fun!:cool1:

Be sure to join us over in the Halloween at DLR Superthread (or in the Disneyland at Christmas Time Superthread, if your plans switch to November!), and take a look at the first two posts on Page 1 - there's lots of info and photos about the season and the party.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have even thought about out-of-state school vacations! Low crowds are a plus and I think everything should be set up for Christmas by my November dates.

@Sherry - I've been during Christmas just this last December and it was absolutely beautiful. Loved the Small World conversion and the bubble snow after the fireworks.

The holiday season officially begins this year at DLR on November 14 (Monday). Everything will be decorated and in full swing on that date except for the 3 DLR hotels (such as the magical, wonderful GCH lobby) and Downtown Disney. All of the entertainment will be up and running, such as IASW Holiday, Santa in both parks, carolers, A Christmas Fantasy Parade, Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks, snow on Main Street, the nighttime Winter Castle, the Reindeer Round-Up, etc.

Yes, bubble snow! That's exactly what it is!:rotfl2: Funny thing is, last year I noticed that there seemed to be less bubble snow than I had seen in previous years - or it was a lighter consistency. I can think back to maybe 2007 or so, and the snow was much more visible on our clothes when it fell. And it showed up in photos much better. Last December, it was so hard to see the snow that a lot of people on Main Street seemed to barely notice it was there - it looked more like dust falling. And it was barely detectable in the pitiful photos I took!:rotfl2:
