Does anyone know if i need to pack bags/buckets for my kids to collect their candy in or are they provided? This is our first halloween party so i have no idea how this works.
Thank you so much

They provide bags but they are pretty small. They will have mickey pumpkin buckets for sale in the park if you want.

ok, if the ones they give are to small then how big of one do we need? How much stuff are we going to get?

Keep in mind that I went in 2009, (when the party was still in DCA). We went with the intention of having fun, enjoying the atmosphere, meeting characters, etc. while still trick-or-treating. Between me, DH, and my boys (who were 3 and 4 at the time), we came home with nearly 20 lbs of candy! :scared1: And the other part of our group (with two adults and two young teens) managed 23 lbs. We were not intentionally trying to hoard candy, but we definitely stopped at a station when we saw one!

And I don't know if it was the same last year, but we stayed until the end of the party and came across a lot of stations that were handing out giant handfuls of candy so that they could start cleaning up. We probably doubled our candy in the last 15 mins of the party. :thumbsup2 .... but remember that was two years ago, not last year.

As far as bags, we brought our own bags. I would recommend something about the size of a grocery bag. I found that the re-usabled grocery bags worked great for the occasion! :goodvibes

I haven't been to the party since 2008 (also when it was in DCA), but we, too, got tons of candy and we didn't even stop at all the treat stations.

If I recall correctly, I think there may be some links to photos of the candy from the Halloween Party in the Table of Contents (Page 1, Post #2) of the Halloween at DLR Superthread. Check under the Food/Treats category or under anything that mentions the Halloween Party. This might give you a good idea of what size bag you should bring/buy!!

thanks for all the info. i found some pictures of what to expect and HOLY COW i don't know how we will get it all home!! i showed my kids the pictures and they are of course super excited now!

My DD11 and I went for the first time last year. We collected almost 20 lbs. of candy! Of course we didn't really ride any rides. Since we have AP we were fine skipping that. We watched the first parade (I knew Pluto), watched the fireworks, and went around collecting as much candy as we could! We had a blast-we were on a mission! I brought along a back pack to put all our haul in.

This year, if we go again (hope to though we are going to WDW from 10/8 to 10/18) I want to top last year's total. I plan on getting more of the healthy snacks too-especially the Craisins. My 2.8 nephew loved them and ate them for months after.

We did the one at WDW several years ago (more like 3 or 4) and we were very disappointed in their candy selection. No name brands to speak of. The stuff we got at DLR was top notch. We gave a lot of it away on Halloween to our trick or treaters. ;)

Just like when I was a kid, I had to bag like items together. I even weighed them.

Maybe this year I can get my Dsis to go as well and get over 30#. ;) I think we would need 2 backpacks! Maybe we should bring the 2.8Nephew...then we would have his stroller....hmmm......:rotfl2:

That is a lot! We were there last year as well, but there is no way I'm ever taking that much candy on the plane home with us, so we just hit a couple lines and my kids are stoked cuz they never get candy so even 10 is the mother lode!

If you are staying on property, you can order these:

If you are staying on property, you can order these Mickey pumpkin buckets to be in the room when you arrive. They are the same buckets sold in the parks and hotels, but filled with stuff. These cost about 500 zillion dollars each, but I think you can get just the bucket for like $12?

ok so my next question might sound dumb and i don't know if anyone will know the answer but how do you get that much candy home on an airplane? do you check it in your luggage? but there is a weight limit. or do you just carry it on the plane with you and look kinda crazy carrying big bags of candy?

wow that is alot of candy.. What are we gonna do with that all.. LOL..

When we did it at WDW we brought it home in our checked bags. This was before baggage fees but we weren't over on our weight (We didn't have as much at WDW as we did at DLR). I would spread it out over your bags and of course bring some on the plane to snack on. ;) If you can carry on an extra bag then I would get a tote size bag to carry it on with. You might pack one from home (empty) in your luggage to use.

That looks awesome! Looks like they have improved their candy assortment since I was there. When we went in 2009 (in DCA), we got a good amount of stuff but literally a third was jawbreakers and barely any chocolate!

Adorable! -I may have to splurge on a couple of those when we go in 2012.

Just to clarify on a common misperception on the delivery of goods from the parks like those Mickey pumpkins:
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...uCelebrate/index?name=CelebrationsGiftingPage
"From princess tiaras to pirate booty and fairy favors, the Dream Makers can create gift baskets and bouquets brimming with Disney magic that will be delivered to your loved one's room at the Disneyland® Resort or one of our Good Neighbor Hotels."

So, unless a seasonal item like the pumpkins gets different treatment, you do NOT need to stay on site to get those gifts delivered.

They look great, BTW. :)

2009 was the one year they gave out poor quality candy. The years before and since have been name brand candy.
