I ask this question all the time but how scary are Universal Horror Nights? I am a total chicken, couldn't even sit through a horror movie. I'm staying at Univeral in October with friends and they are dying to do Horror Nights but I'm terrified.
Any imput is appreciated!!
Thanks!!!!

HHN is VERY intense so if you are a total chicken as you claim to be, you should probably stay away.

You can check out YouTube and watch videos from past HHN events but that won't help you a whole lot.

I have seen about a dozen grown-ups chicken out right before they enter each house. :)
I also saw this guy last year who ran back out and said "No way, I can't"! :rotfl2:

The mind is a powerful thing... I agree it is very intense and staged, but just keep in mind they are hired actors with incredible make-ups... They prey on scared people, but they don't touch you or pull you in any way, shape or
form, although most of them are "in your face". Keep that in mind, it helps a lot! ;)

There is also alcohol available, in case you need it... :lmao:

I still laugh about the time when my sister who maybe weighed 120lbs turned around picked up my brother who was well over 200lbs and placed him in between her and the guy who jumped out at us in the haunted house :scared1:. I don't know who was more shocked, the actor or my brother :rotfl:

If you're terrified, I suggest that you don't go. You could hang out at Citywalk or the hotel. Any chance that at least one of your friends would also skip it to hang out with you?

It is NOT an event for the faint of heart. Sure, they can't touch you but it's very intense and immersive. If you are afraid of horror movies, imagine actually being in the movie. Not good! I am fine with HHN because my mother dragged me to horror movies from toddlerhood, plus I was born around Halloween so I seem to have a natural affinity for that sort of thing. But they even get a good scare in on me every now and then...last year, I was on my way to Guest Services and was really pissed off about the incident that caused me to be headed there, so I forgot where I was. I was totally distracted, and the scareactors prey on that. One snuck up on me and snapped a lound clipboard right by my ear. I just about had a heart attack! That's not a scary act on its own, but it was so totally unexpected. They also got me good at Halloscream, where I sat down in a bench not knowing that the "bush" next to me was really a person. Yikes!!!!

It's not like they're going to send you in there by yourself. There's a whole line of people, so that might help you some.

Between the obnoxious drunks and the scared people slamming backwards into me and trampling my toes, I find the conga line scarier than any of the scareactors.

I know I will be petrified but I think I really want to check HHN out. Think I will wait until I can go with my husband so I can grab onto him for dear life :scared1:

Ohmygoodness! Thanks for the comments everyone!
Maybe I should stick to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!!!!

Nah! If I were you, I would squeal my lungs out all the night if I have to, but I would not miss all this fun with my friends... (really, it's not that bad)

We Travel with friends every year. The first year My BF would'nt even stay in the park after 3pm (she thought maybe HHN would start early)LOL! The rest of us still attended. 2nd year she kept saying she would go..bought her the ticket....Yep! you guessed it the night of the party she chickened out.(BF hates horror movies and if you turn around to quick on her and come out from behind a wall, she screams...Even though she knows you have been in the house with her the last 6 hours)Well long story short she has attended the last 3 years in a row! She loves it now! still hates horror movies and is afraid of her own shadow...
p.s the only problem she had was the first HHN it was the house with the Vampire it scared her half to death (there were stairs in this house) she ended up running out so fast she jumped down 6 steps, nearly killed herself, peed her pants the Sheriff that was standing at the exit nearly fell over laughing:rotfl: we were all on the ground in tears (i'm in tears laughing as I write this) it was the best! her nickname now is "PEE PEE Pants"
I think you should do it!:cheer2:

I am seriously a sissy girl. I DO NOT watch horror movies EVER! I am going. But I have 3 men and a grown daughter I plan on sandwiching myself between if I get even close to petrified LOL! I'm actually excited. Can't wait!

This describes me also and this is now our 3rd HHN. Mind you, my husband had to beg me to go the first time, especially knowing that I can't even watch anything remotely scary. I have to say the anticipation for the first house was probably the worst part for me. Once I made it through that, I was fine the rest of the evening. Now I enjoy it as much as he does. I scream, jump and hold onto my husband's shirt, but I have a lot of fun. With a group of friends, you should be fine. Ultimately, you are the only one that can make that decision. If all else fails, there's alcohol to fall back on. Enjoy!

You're not going to want to hear this, but, they will get you, they are pretty good at breaking groups apart cause we learned that they are under the mindset the one in the middle is easiest to scare haha.

Its all good fun, but its very intense, you will either come out of a house in tears, in laughter, or in shock. Last year was my first year, and I had a blast, I surprised myself to the fact I wasn't scared, only one out of the five houses really got to me. But my friend, she was screaming the wholeeee timeee. So I was laughing each time she got scared, I was apologizing more than I was screaming (Due to my friend pushing me into everyone. I also discovered I don't want to be caught in a dangerous situation with her, in the Chucky house she pushed me into Chucky so she could run.)

But, I loved it, and it helps to bring someone you know is a lot more scared than you are.

I will pretend NOT to be scared as hard as I can LOL!

There is nobody that will be even close to as scared as me. All my peeps are living for this!

Wish me luck!

There is no one as scared as me, either!!! Maybe if I drink ALOT???? I'm a tall, sturdy girl so maybe if I look tough, they won't mess with me too much????
LMAO
