Halloween Horror Nights-How Scary???

In the houses it is a little different but in the streets if you act like you are scared they are going to go after you much more frequently , because they know they can get a response out of you. Normally if you act like you aren’t nervous, they will stay away and focus on someone who is.
Universal also has safe zones set-up, at least they have in the past, where the scareactors are not allowed to case or go after you ( shops, and zoned off streets, etc.), so make sure you know where those are when you enter the park.

I've never seen zoned off streets/shops/etc.. while I've never seen them run into shops, there is no place to hide. Right when you walk there will be a scarezone in front of you and to the right of you, you cannot go anywhere in the part if you don't go through these.

And if anyone is going that I can hide behind, please let me know!!! We will be there from Thurs 10/14/10 thru Sun 10/17/10!!!!

I'm going to go as many FFPP nights as I can. I'm not a tall lady (5'3"), but I'm not narrow, either  . So you can feel free to hide behind me - I'm usually absolutely terrified, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

The whole park is not one big scare zone, there are streats/areas that will not have a scare zone in it. Granted, Universal does not call them "safe zones" but the scareactors do not go into those areas. Same with shops a actor will not go after some one who is in there. So, if you get overly scared you can go to those places and take a breather or what ever.

I am seriously a sissy girl. I DO NOT watch horror movies EVER! I am going.

This describes me also and this is now our 3rd HHN. Mind you, my husband had to beg me to go the first time, especially knowing that I can't even watch anything remotely scary. I have to say the anticipation for the first house was probably the worst part for me. Once I made it through that, I was fine the rest of the evening. Now I enjoy it as much as he does. I scream, jump and hold onto my husband's shirt, but I have a lot of fun. With a group of friends, you should be fine. Ultimately, you are the only one that can make that decision. If all else fails, there's alcohol to fall back on. Enjoy!

I went first time last year. I love Horror movies, but I am a jumper and a screamer. I SO agree that the first house was the toughest. I hid behind my hubby, pulled his shirt (he has vowed to wear one he cares less about this year), screamed and jumped. And did better with the next house..even better with the next..and really enjoyed it from there. And Bill and Teds was just amazing. I am trying to noy psych myself out about this year. I know if I don't go, I will regret it. But I keep having flashbacks from last year..that was one creepy usher.

This chicken will be going on Sept 25 (and if I get really brave, maybe the 30th as well). If any other chicken DISers are doing S&S and wanna brave this together, let me know.;)

The park is not a big scarezone, I'm not trying to say that. But I've seen roaming actors in areas that don't have a scarezone on the map. Also I was saying I've never seen a marked area a scareactor "cannot cross".

Ok, maybe saying that there are zoned off streets was the wrong words to use. What I was trying to get at was that there are vacant areas away for scarezones that the actors normally do not hang around waiting to scare you.
People consider those areas safe zones, places where if they get overly scared or nervous they can go and take a breather.

I totally get what you are saying and it's good to know that there is "safety" somewhere!!!
thx!

I'm a tall, thick girl (almost 6' in my bare toes) but maybe I could use you as a shield? LOL
Thank you for the offer!!!!

Dh and I went once and didn't like it. The houses are frightening at first, but then rather repetitive. I got very tired of being chased by goblins with chainsaws. I guess we were in the scare zones when this happened, but we were unaware that some areas apparently are not scare zones.

In any event, a couple of years ago, we were at Universal as it was closing for HHN and we considered buying the HHN ticket and trying it again. When I went to guest services, I asked the woman selling HHN tickets her opinion on it. She said, "If you have to ask, don't go".

We took her advice, got on the boat to PBH and had dinner at Bice. We spent the money we'd have used for HHN tickets on a great bottle of wine. For us, that was the better choice!
