Halloween decorations??

The athmosphere of Halloween for me (and it seems to others too) is what you describe as "tacky". Bright, screaming decorations, pumpkin men, Frontierland becoming Halloweenland, scary set ups for the party etc.

.

Well like I said I'm in the minority. I thought some of the pumpkin decorations last year were awful and very worn down.

It is a shame some people felt let down with Halloween. We enjoyed it so will be back again next year.

I wonder if they'll put out more decorations the closer to Halloween it gets?? I love the Halloween decorations!

And the answer to that would be no!

Just arrived back after going specifically for Halloween and the Halloween Party on the 31st. Frankly, they could be had under Trades Descriptions for billing it as a 'Halloween Festival'! One area of Mickey shaped pumpkins near the castle (very pretty mind), a few columns of character pumpkins outside a few shops, and a few garlands of flowers does not make it Halloween. The party was good, a lot of scary characters prowling around, the steam/smoke at Frontierland, lots of guests getting into the swing of things with costumes etc. However, the wait time on most of the rides was 30-45 minutes, not much less than during the day, not a good return for an extra £29. The staff at the Santa Fe made an effort in La Cantina, with carved pumpkins, scary make up and some good decorations, but overall Halloween was a let down.

I understand your disappointment, i was extremely disappointed with the LACK of Halloween theming. .
I sent them an email to give my thoughts about my visit and this is the reply i received yesterday. It only took them 26 days to reply :sad2:

Thank you for your e-mail message concerning your recent visit to Disneyland® Paris.

For this year’s Halloween season, Disneyland® Paris is offering its Guests a new experience by associating the Disney characters with the Halloween festivities in a much more direct way.

Especially for the occasion, two new shows have been developed: ‘Disney’s Maleficious Halloween Party’ and ‘Mickey’s Halloween Treat in the Street’.

The special Halloween evening events are also being presented through three different concepts that ensure there is something for everyone.

Aware of the fact that Guests wish to enjoy a unique, immersive Halloween atmosphere, the new theme will be strengthened in the years to come through, for example, more extensive decoration at the entrance to Disneyland Park and on Main Street, U.S.A.

All these changes are specific to this season (to the Halloween season). We can confirm that from 7 November the much-loved entertainment, decorations and unique atmosphere of the Christmas and New Year season will be returning to Disneyland® Paris.

Moreover, refurbishment and preparations for the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Disneyland® Paris are underway to make this event unique and unforgettable.

Disneyland® Paris pays particular attention to the experience of its Guests as well as their feedback in order to continue improving its offer.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to inform us of your experiences. All feedback is of the utmost importance to us so that we may continually gauge the level of Guest satisfaction and improve our services where necessary.

We hope that in spite of your concern on this occasion, Disneyland® Paris will have the chance to welcome you back.

Yours sincerely,

Lola Noguera

I really do hope that the decorations will be strengthened in the coming years or i think people will just not bother to visit

From that reply, you have to assume that the complaints about the lack of Halloween decorations must be outweighed 10 to 1 by people telling them how wonderful they think it was. It is the usual 'we listen to our customers (but totally ignore them)' reply you get from big companies.
We did catch some of the Halloween shows, but they were nothing spectacular. They were good, but once they had finished there was no trace of Halloween theming to be seen. The party we attended was good, but at an extra £29, the extras we got didn't balance out day-time ride queue lengths, so we probably won't do that again.
For us, it will not stop us going to DLP again, it will just mean that we consider other times of the year to go.
