Jake suffered Ketoacidosis (diabetic coma) - loss of consciousness due to untreated diabetes. Untreated because no one knew he had it. It's very scary and very sudden. He started vomiting they (doctors) thought he had the flu. Gave him a shot to stop the vomiting sent him home and Jake got worse. Long story short, by the time he got to our local hospital his blood sugar was over 500. They transferred him to Boston. Ketoacidosis can cause fluid on the brain. Jake's speech has been affected. Still waiting for full details. Jake is the sweetest little boy I have ever known. He always has a smile on his face and loves everyone. He is our sunshine. Please continue to keep him in your prayers during this critical time.

Jen, This is so tragic......had to be so frightening for everyone. I'm assuming he is conscious now, since you mentioned his speech has been affected? Is he "out of the woods" so to speak? Continued prayers......

My water order and SOLO CUPS were delivered and received by someone named Jason at the warehouse. Another one of those things that make you go hmmmmmm. Will it be there when we get there or should we bring more?

I spoke with Jen this evening and she said that Jake has been taken off of the critical care list. But is still in ICU. So the prayers must be working. I will keep you updated if I hear anymore...She really appreciates all of the prayers....

I am going to college! Does that mean I should duct tape solo cups to my door?? I am thinking maybe a few cups in case a couple of folks want to drop off a little surprise?
