All of this talk about earthquakes reminds me of when I was growing up in Northwest Ohio.....we had one that was strong enough to crack the foundation of our in-ground pool. My Dad was taking a cat-nap on the couch when it happened, and he woke up saying "who's shaking the house?".....This, coming from a man who has more common sense than anyone I've ever met.....So Shaughn, I totally understand you and your DH's reactions!! :goodvibes

What is everyone's plans when they get to St. Marteen and St. Thomas????

For St. Maarten we're splitting up. I'm doing the 12 Metre Ragatta with Steve and my Mom. Karen and family are doing a snorkeling tour. For St. Thomas we're a bit undecided. It will be a beach day. The question is whether we stay on STT or head over to St. John. I'd love to spend the day at Hawksnest on STJ. We'll see.

Kritter, I see you're going into OCD overdrive with shopping on St. Maarten. If you don't cut that out, I'm going to have to drag you along to Martini Tasting with Karen and myself. An afternoon of drinking with the lush sisters will calm you right down! :drinking: :drinking:

We are just "winging it" in St. Thomas. It just depends on what we feel like doing that day. In St. Maarten, we're doing a snorkel sail.

As far as the water shipping goes, I just got a call from Staples saying that they talked with IDS (the warehouse) & IDS says that DCL will not allow them to deliver cases of water to the ship. She said that they can't bring outside water onboard. They were great about cancelling the order.

St.Martin - We are going to take a cab to Orient beach, hope to stay for a few hours. Then, We plan to do a little shopping and hit a few Casino's.

St. Thomas- we booked an independent tour online through Godfrey tours to shop, sightsee, and go to a beach. we will probably skip the beach due to lack of time.

Castaway Cay- We are going to Serenity Bay to float and drink Konk Kooler's. :beach: :drinking1

We had two more micro quakes again last night. The first was a 1.5 (?) and the second was 2.4. I didn't feel or hear either one of those. We do have some major fault lines, but none like the west coast. Most of the time we never sense any movement.
I just think it's funny. Here I am wrapped in bubblewrap before the trip, trying not to get hurt or sick and my town decides to have a little shake down! :rotfl2:

I got my ToT goodie bags done. Now I need to get my costumes done. I need more time!!! :hourglass

Hope the earth stops shaking!! Wow that must be pretty scary, hope everything calms down.

Same here.....I called Staples and found out my order (to be delivered today) was refused at warehouse, and Staples issued a refund on my CC. Oh well.....it was worth a try!

We are doing the Rhino Ride then going to Pinel Island for snorkeling/ waverunners at St Marteen.

I belive we are going to go SCUBA diving/ snorkeling, stop by the dairy for a shake and maybe check out a new beach and of course look around the shops.

I guess that I should watch the news more often. I did not feel this or hear about it :confused3

Here's a news story about it:

By the way, in St. Marteen we are doing the under 2 flags tour ( I had to cancel the 12 metre reggeta) and the St. Thomas island tour. I will have my parents with me, so we can't do anything too long or too active.

I got the same call....I called the warehouse and the man explained that they will not take the water since we are going international and due to heightended security measures.

I am still planning on taking some in my suitcase and my rolling cooler with some alcohol? Anyone think this will be a problem??

Karen,
You are too funny!!! I am total OCD just ask Jen and Heather I never stop...LOL!!! I would love the martini tasting but can not miss out on the shopping for jewerly..Once DH agrees to buy I need to take him up on it.....

I am headed to the local martini bar tomorrow for some great tasting martini's but wonder if I should not go and save myself for the cruise???

Nothing Brewing in the Atlantic Basin
Posted: 18-OCT-2006 07:00am EDT
By AccuWeather Meteorology Chris Shabbott
The Atlantic basin remains relatively quiet and we see no signs of tropical development for at least the next few days. Tropical waves along 39 west and along 68 west are moving west at about 6 degrees longitude per day and have no significant lower-level development. We continue to see a relatively strong upper-level trough, referred as a TUTT, in place over the eastern Caribbean, north-northeast to the central Atlantic. This TUTT is causing strong high-level winds over the southern North Atlantic, which will prevent any late season development. An upper-level high pressure area is in place over the southern Gulf and northwestern Caribbean. This continues to create strong, southwesterly and westerly upper-level winds over the Gulf of Mexico. The strong upper-level winds over these areas are very typical of an evolving El Nino pattern, which will make it very difficult for any late-season tropical development anytime soon.

Prayers from Phoenix too!! Having spent plenty of time in a normal room at the children's hospital this summer, I cannot imagine how horrible an ICU stay must be. Jake & your family will be in our thoughts. Please keep us updated.

Jen,

You know we will pray for Jake and your family. I will call you later for an update!!!!!

Jen- Please tell us more of Jake's condition when you have time, or have Kristin relay the information. I'm praying for him today.

Jennifer

We are doing this tour also.....are you scheduled for morning? Our meeting time is 8:45am. We decided to do tours in St. Thomas & St. Marteen since we've never been to either place before......this will be our "educational" portion of the trip, with a little shopping mixed in! :goodvibes
