DW's cousin contacted the only Disneyland "expert" she knew (me!!) and this expert is stumped, so I must defer to the real experts.

I'll quote her question:
I was told that there is a 24 hour time period when they take down the Halloween decorations and the Christmas ones go up and if you are there when it happens you can see both on the same trip. Any idea when that is?

I don't think this is even possible. Maybe take down one night and put up another night. Plus, isn't it a couple weeks into November when Christmas starts to appear??

Please tell me I'm not losing it.

Well, it's sort of true. I remember a couple of DIS-ers posted last year, and they mentioned being there as the Castle was getting holiday-ized with the snow, and some of the Halloween stuff was still up. So it's not going to be the full spectrum of HalloweenTime and Christmastime decorations colliding - I only wish it were; I think that might just be the most popular day of the year at DLR! - but you will may some of the Halloween stuff before it goes down and some of the Christmas stuff as it starts to go up. I think it also depends on when HalloweenTime ends and when Christmastime begins. Last year HalloweenTime ended a day later than normal - like November 2 or something - and Christmastime started a week earlier than it had been starting in 2008 and 2007. This year, I think the Halloween stuff will come down as soon as October 31 ends because that's a Sunday. It will probably come down overnight and be gone by Monday, November 1st, I would guess. And we don't know yet if the holiday season is starting on 11/12 or 11/19. So there may not be an overlap in decorations this year - or if there is, the Christmas stuff will be so minimal that it won't be very obvious yet.

We were there in early November last year, there were a few Halloween things still up and every day when we went to the park something new and Christmasy was up, it was fun to see what had changed overnight up until the opening day of Christmas season which was our last day there. Plus the weather was beautiful and it was only crowded on Veterans Day (which was a Wednesday) and Friday which was the kickoff for Christmas and we got to see the filming of the Christmas parade which happened the Saturday before "Christmas" started.
