Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

I have no clue what being the official streaming home means. From the little research I've done since reading this, Peacock is ADDING the Hallmark channels to their premium service. Yet nothing else is changing. They are NOT being removed from the other services that are also streaming them, like YouTubeTV, Sling, and FrndlyTV, etc.
I will see if I can find out more about it tomorrow and report back

This is what makes the deal unique with peacock

The companies are branding the deal as a “first of its kind” arrangement that includes both the live linear channels (typically available through a cable or satellite provider) and a subscription video-on-demand library deal.

I'm just glad that Hallmark didn't pull the plug on the FrndlyTV app showing their 3 channels and moving them over to Peacock. That would have really slit GAF's throat, making people have to choose which app to go with, if they didn't want to pay for two streaming services for Hallmark and GAF.

It's one thing to be in direct competition. It's another thing to make a hostile move that would have directly impaired another channel.

But, I'm happy that Peacockers 🦚 who already were getting their premium streaming service will now get Hallmark.

Its actually smart because Hallmark realizes with so many cost cutting they need a way to reach more people. GAF sorry it's always going to be GAC for me 😂 i don't think is on cable like it was either

Yeah, I read they changed GAF again to something else. Probably when the owner realized it's almost spelled like "gaff," also known as making a mistake. :headache:

I just checked, Spectrum Cable now lists the channel as "GFAM." :teleport:

I already had Peacock for some shows, so this is a nice perk. I don't need to get Frndly now. That will save me some money this holiday.

So, I’m way behind on the news that so many of the big stars moved away from Hallmark and over to GAC. I guess I missed a big announcement last year. What caused the mass exodus?

Speaking of streaming, for those still not ready to watch Christmas movies, or wondered where to see some old Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, the other day I came across two FREE streaming services with their own Hallmark Movies section for OnDemand movies. No new or current stuff that is showing now on Hallmark. Both are legit as major companies are behind both services. So the movies aren't stolen, bootleg movies.

PlutoTV is Paramount/CBS's FREE streaming service:

I played one movie and no ads played during it.

XumoTV is Comcast and Charter's FREE streaming service. It is ad supported. They have some different content than PlutoTV and some episodes of Cedar Cove.

Of course the Apple and Android app stores have the apps to install on devices.

Probably money. But some of them are pretty crazy.

That's not completely accurate. The group that is now financing GAC/GAF or whatever it is called now, came in later, after many of the stars made the move. The founder of GAC/GAF/Whatever recently said that starting a new network from scratch is harder than he expected. (He took over as Hallmark CEO when it had already been up and running for some years.) The new network also depends on what movies are pitched to them and what they will accept. And he had a hard time for a long time getting people to pitch stuff to them.

GAC/GAF/Whatever didn't really do any new movies all last spring or summer. And only really came to life in August. (I know because I reported about it here on our ongoing thread.) Then they showed movies already made, not by them, but previously not released in the U.S., but only in Canada or Australia, etc. That's about 7 months of just showing old Full House reruns and none of the movies made he promised all the stars he signed contracts with.

I have a feeling this company that now is a major backer of GAC/GAF/Whatever was a hail Mary to save the network. Many of the stars probably were not a part of that. And maybe they would have made different choices had that factor been there from the beginning.

For instance, Trevor Donovan isn't even in a GAC/GAF/Whatever Christmas movie this season, even though he was one of the first to sign an exclusive contract with GAC. And the movie he did with Rachel Boston earlier in the year ended up showing on UPtv, not GAC. Why is that? The only thing Trevor is doing right now is Dancing With the Stars on ABC.

Unfortunately, GAC/GAF/Whatever being given 30 pieces of silver, or in Supernatural TV show terms, "making a deal with a crossroads demon" to save a network possibly comes with a heavy price if there is an underlying agenda by the backers.

I just hope politics doesn't start showing up in their movies. I just want to see light, fluffy, Hallmark-type romantic movies. That's ALL.

I think, the article is right in that we'll see less diversity and inclusion like we're now seeing in Hallmark movies today.

:lmao: Here is another drinking game for Jolly Good Christmas, starring Will Kemp and Reshma Shetty, which premiered last weekend. :drinking1 (I'm not sure when Kim puts these out. I always see the link after the movie premieres. She may have to wait to watch it to actually come up with the game.)

Take a drink when…
  • Someone says “jolly good”
  • You spot a London icon or landmark
  • Will Kemp’s American accent breaks
  • It’s raining
  • You spot someone dressed in a Christmas-related costume (Santa, elf, etc.)
  • David rejects Anji’s opinion on what gift he should get his girlfriend (take a shot if he finally buys a gift for his girlfriend other than a gift card)
  • You spot someone selling or eating hot chestnuts
  • Someone’s “full” drink is clearly empty
  • David, Anji, and David’s girlfriend are in the scene together
  • Someone is wearing an ugly Christmas sweater
Finish your drink if…
  • There’s an easy breakup between David and his girlfriend
  • David leaves his job to start his own company

Just a heads up for all of you not ready for Christmas movies yet:

The thread title will be changed tomorrow to our yearly, "Hallmark Christmas Movies" title.

Sorry. :duck:

Lifetime is starting their Holiday season this weekend. UPtv too. And Hallmark and GAC GAF GFAM already started showing their new Christmas movies. I held off as long as I could.

Late reminder:

Tonight's new Christmas movie premieres are:

A Magical Christmas Village on at 8pm ET on the Hallmark Channel.
Re-airs: Sat 11/04 at 6pm ET
Sun 11/05 at 2pm ET
Wed 11/16 at 10pm ET

Starring: Alison Sweeney, Luke Macfarlane, and special guest star Marlo Thomas.

Description: Summer is an architect who lives in a small town where she’s raising her young daughter Chloe. When Vivian, her mother, finds herself in need of a place to live, Summer invites Vivian to move in with them during this transition.

When she arrives, Vivian sets up an heirloom, miniature Christmas village that resembles their town, and tells Chloe that it grants Christmas wishes. Chloe begins to set up the figurines, and real-life events seem to mimic the scenes she creates. For example, Summer’s chance meeting with Ryan, a newcomer to their community.

As the two get to know each other, they discover they have many things in common. Ryan slowly helps Summer learn to open her heart to love again.

Meanwhile, having to live under the same roof gives Summer and Vivian the opportunity to mend their fences before the holiday arrives.

Perhaps with a little help from the magic of the Christmas village, the family will be brought closer together.

Alison was a producer, as per her new contract with Hallmark.

Sad news: This unfortunately will be Luke Macfarlane's last movie with Hallmark (for the foreseeable future.) When this new Hallmark was in such an upheaval earlier this year and the stars went scrambling for other roles, Luke got cast as a lead in a box office movie called Bros.

Luke got to spread his wings and do a comedic role in a gay romantic comedy. The movie received rave reviews from critics and audiences. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a high 88% rating.

In an interview with LA Times, Luke broke the news
about how this movie will likely be his last with Hallmark.

“They’ve been very good to me, but I think I’ve told my story for now with those folks,” Macfarlane told LA Times. “I mean, how many firefighters can I play?” (This will be his 14th movie with Hallmark.) He’s grateful for his time with Hallmark and really appreciates all the opportunities he’s had, he’s shared in multiple interviews.

UPtv is starting their Christmas movie premieres tonight.

UnPerfect Christmas Wish
- starring Alys Crocker, David Pinard, Bukola Walfall and Ish Morris.

Description: When her boyfriend dumps her at the holidays, Ava asks a mall Santa for the perfect boyfriend.

This movie previously aired on Super Channel Heart & Home Canada in 2021, which is how UPtv was able to get a (cheaper) deal to premiere it here in the U.S. now, than if it premiered as a new movie for the first time in the U.S. (GAC/GFAM did that in the fall with many of the movies they aired.)
