I noticed there is no port call next year in Halifax on the Canada New England sailings. St. John doesn't seem to get rave reviews. Any idea why Halifax isn't on any of the itineraries?
I had been to St John a few times and wasn't overly impressed -- seemed everything was themed on the tides. On the 5 day cruise this year (the Oct 2nd Magic) we did a whale watching trip and it was a great trip. We saw over a dozen finback whales, some of them surfacing multiple times. It was a long drive to St Andrew's where the boats leave from and with the time they allowed us, not a whole lot to do but catch lunch or something, but it was a cute town. We had great weather too so I'm sure that helped. (We were also the next cruise which was the Oct 7 redirected cruise and people were being told they didn't offer a whale watching excursion because the season ended in September, I didn't follow up to see about booking on our own because we were already onboard and trying to do that last minute with limited internet/phone was difficult.) When we were in St John the second time, we just strolled around downtown which we had never done before and was enjoyable, so while it wouldn't have filled our whole day, it was enjoyable for at least an hour or two.
