Halfway point between Ky. and Myrtle Beach?

Taking a weekend trip to Myrtle Beach in August (hot, I know!) and am looking for a place to stop halfway. Anyone got any ideas? I've never been there before but am not looking forward to the 9-hour drive. I hate being in the car.
