We often like to take a break from the parks and just go for a drive. Could be just scenic or maybe a unique destination, but not necessarily something to do when we get there.

Been to Daytona/Coco Beach a few times. Looking for maybe a 5-6hr round trip. Have GPS will travel:thumbsup2

Our fav is to drive down near St Petes to a place called Johns pass at Madeira Beach. Its beautiful. They have a boardwalk with shops and restaurants. YOu can walk the length of the boardwalk or take a sail on any of the many party/ dolphin boats there. We just loved watching the boats coming back in. The pelicans were lined up waiting of the fish people had caught that they would throw to them. The are great restaurants there too ( scullys do a great steak and shrimp). Very beautiful and peaceful pretty spot. Some cool shops there too and a great marine aquarium. When we were there last year hubby bought me a real "dubloon" necklace from the Mel fisher haul out of the shipwreck store. They let my 8yr old hold a 900 year old cannon ball , he thought that was very cool. When you have done that just cross the road onto Madeira beach and watch the sunset...gorgeous! Its not very well known but we think its a great day out, a little hidden gem. ( its about 80 miles from Disney)

St. Augustine is a great city to visit a little under 2 hours away. I would spend the whole day, though.

Tough to share advice with a wings fan. :)

Kennedy space center is a great 1/2 day trip in my opinion.
Something close by that you may want to consider os the city walk area and hotels near universal.
Third option, when we take a break we tour the hotels on property. Next trip, we are considering a "lounges around the world" tour.
