Today we were using our plus feature to go to Blizzard Beach. I went down to Mara and picked up some bagels and cream cheese, chips and some fruit to take with us for a picnic there.
This was the only time where we had a long wait for a bus at AKL. We waited 40 minutes for the MGM/Blizzard Beach bus, but we still made it there for opening. We picked up a refillable mug for the day and staked out a nice shady spot.
We dropped off our things and went on the Lazy River, Teamboat Springs and some of the other water slides without much of a wait. By noon the lines for the water slides were too much for me so I went back to the shade and immersed myself in my latest Princess Diana book while the girls went off on their own.
By about 2:00 they came back with Hayley sulking. I pulled her aside to find out what was wrong and she said Alli was being rude to her. It seems like having an 11 year old tagging with her was cramping Allis style. Alli is a very mature 15 year old and my sister has had her hands full with her over the last year. According to Hayley, Alli kept walking ahead of her being more interested in attracting the attention of the young boys at Blizzard Beach rather that going on any of the water slides. Okay time to clear out of there. I must say though that this was the only time during the week where the girls didnt get along wonderfully.
Since we werent using a day on our park hoppers, we decided we would go over to Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club for dinner. We took the bus to MGM and then the boat over to the Beach Club. We were able to get right into Beaches and Cream and we ate WAY too much. The girls each had a kids burger, I had the single burger and we shared some onion rings. Hayley ordered a root beer float, which she decided she didnt like, so I was forced to drink that that (yum!)
After all that food we needed a walk so we walked around the Boardwalk. It was dead! We then walked back to MGM to get the bus back to the hotel. I had forgotten about those nasty little noseeums. I guess because we were close to the water they had a feast on my ankles!
When we walked into our hotel room we noticed an odor and it sure wasnt the wonderful AKL smells we were used to. There was a real sour milk smell and after sniffing around the room found it was coming from behind the refrigerator. Yuck! It seems like there most have been some milk that was previously spilled in there and after the heat of the motor getting to it over the course of a couple of days peeewww!!
The girls went for a swim at the pool while I called housekeeping about the stinky frig. They apologized and brought us a new one within 15 minutes. Since the girls were at the pool I took the opportunity to put out their pillow gifts, which were rings from the AKL gift shop.
I took a walk down to the lobby hmmmm love that smell and had a look at the animals from Arusha Rock before gathering up the kids from the pool to get them off to bed as tomorrow was another day at the parks.
