Great reviews Karin !! I totally agree about Tangerine Cafe , I ate there in Feb with 2 other dissers who both had the sliders and they said they were awful. !! I had the schwarmi plate and it was not good !!! The meat was dry and cold !! The hummus was good and so was the olive salad !! If I go again I will get the vegetarian plate !!

Us too :lmao: We are planning on actually doing another back to back cruise - this time on the Dream and planning for the 4 night cruise starting August 21 and the 3 night cruise starting August 25. Maybe we will see you there! :goodvibes

too funny...have looked at both...will do one or the other, more likely the 4 night...but whichever we do I hope to see you there:thumbsup2:cloud9:

Now Tangerine Cafe....:what a pity...food sounds pretty sick:, but beer, well, we are Brits, so that has to be, :thumbsup2, yum yum:).

I love your writing style! Your photos are great. And I can't wait for more!

Ugg, what a bummer about Tangerine Cafe! And I was honestly surprised too-I've eaten there twice (several years apart), and both times the lamb sandwhich/wrap I had were very moist and flavorful. I'm glad that I read your review, b/c those sliders sounded good, and now I know the truth!!!

Isn't it just so much fun to go around WS with your hubby and share CS?? My hubby and I did that several years ago on a day-trip to EPCOT, and the culinary delights we had . . . :goodvibes

Looking forward to more reviews!

Ooh California Rolls, yummy. I love Sushi :)

I love the Lion King topiary, it looks soo cool, cute lil baby Simba :)

We got to see a few more - I could not believe that we actually got a glimpse of Flower and Garden! :goodvibes

I had heard so many good things about Tangerine Cafe that I almost tried it on this last trip. I'm glad I never found the time! That sounds horrible!

But Tom's got the right idea. Wash it down with a Moosehead! :thumbsup2

Only last summer we tried the Tangerine Cafe for the first time and the food was stunning (had the chicken and lamp combi platter) so we were really looking forward to it this February. Unfortunately we had a completely different experience - and I guess we were not the only ones, looking at Rosie's post! I guess it will be a while until we go back! ;)

WooHoo.....The Ditch is next!!!!!!!:cool1:

I just uploaded the photos to Photobucket, and once I have finished answering posts I will start working on it! :thumbsup2

We will be in Florida for nine days, but be in WDW for 5. We will be visiting with family on this trip too. It will be nice to visit with them and get out to the beaches. :beach:

I have a new travel journal that should help me with my reviews on my trip. I will have to remember to take a pic of the meal before I dig in though. :mickeybar

We are very excited about the 8:05 reservation for CP. We got it about a month ago. Someone must of just cancelled- we are very lucky!! Can't wait to take some pics of an empty or near empty MK.

Countdown to trip- 17 days, countdown to trip report 27 days, maybe? Yahoo!

Can't wait for your report! Have a wonderful and magical trip! :goodvibes

You know what's funny? I was looking at your pictures of the menu and thought the sliders seemed like a good choice. Guess NOT. :sad2: I hate to throw food away but there is NO way I would eat that "food".

I want to comment about your sushi as well. I don't enjoy seafood but I saw someone's DR and they visited the F&W Festival and one of the stands had crispy beef rolls, those looked delicious! They don't have them in Yakitori house do they??

I am not one to throw out food either, but these sliders were just gross!
I don't remember any crisp beef rolls at the Yakitori House, but then I did not pay all that close attention. Tom chose the Sushi (he likes it more than me, ;)) and that was it. But crispy beef sounds yummy! Let me know if you find out if they offer it somewhere else - this would definitely go on my list. :goodvibes

Karin, just wanted to let you know that Markie's knee surgery was a success -- nothing major (he's in a lot of pain right now).

Hope you and Tom have a wonderful Holiday weekend.

I had to share the pretty flowers we received from our "Dis" sister, Nicki and her wonderful hubby, Todd:

Now, on to the next installment, please. :)

I am sorry your experience at Tangerine Cafe was not good either! I am not sure we will eat there again in the summer, maybe in a year's time or so!

I don't think you can base whether you go to a restaurant on one person's review of one item on the menu. Like you said, there are many, many people on here that love this place. I've been there twice and I'd use a TS credit for it. I'd still try it! :thumbsup2

As you can see, we were not the only ones who had a bad meal at about the same time frame. Maybe they were just off, but it was MILES from the food we had had there in summer of 09.

I would suggest the 4 night cruise! ;) We hope to rebook while cruising this summer to score a discount! :goodvibes
As for the Tangerine Cafe - we were SO disappointed! The beer on the other hand did get a :thumbsup2 from Tom!

I love your writing style! Your photos are great. And I can't wait for more!

Thank you! :goodvibes More coming up shortly!

Looking forward to more reviews!

As I said before, we have been there last year, reading reviews of wonderful food and really liked last years platter. Now this time we wanted to try something different and it was yuck!
Tom and I share lots of food, otherwise it would be very hard to fit in the appetizer and dessert! ;)

sorry to hear about Tangerine Cafe. I was kind of look to put that on my list but now no way

Try it, if it appeals to you, just stay away from the sliders - they were really awful!

Kat, that is really good news about Markie! Hope the pain goes away SOON!
I did see that wonderful bouquet of flowers on Nicki's thread! She IS a sweetheart, and so is Todd! ;)

Thanks for keeping me updated! Let Markie know that we send him lots of pixiedust: for a speedy recovery! :flower3:

...... still not done with Day 6, February 18

Enjoying the pleasures of La Cava del Tequila

Now I had read about this in a few threads and definitely wanted to try it. We had been there right at the opening of World Showcase, but La Cava wasn't open then, so we tried again in the afternoon.

So we walked over to the Mexican Pavillion and had a look inside La Cava. Boy, this is a small venue! While I was still looking around Tom had seen a free table for two and in a split second it was occupied again - by US! :lmao:

IMG_4533.jpg

The server was on hand quickly and we ordered two Diet Cokes (we were real thirsty! :lmao:) and then proceeded to look at the menu!

Tom decided to order .............

IMG_4508.jpg

the Margarita Flight! Prickly Pear, Cucumber, Avocado, Wild Passion Fruit and Jalapeno Margarita shots

IMG_4509.jpg

IMG_4510.jpg

IMG_4511.jpg

Please don't ask me which one is which - the server did explain them, but it was far to fast for me to follow! :rotfl:

IMG_4514.jpg

I had the Blood Orange Margarita. It was niiiiiiiiiice!!!!!!!!!!! and strong! :rotfl2:

I definitely wanted to try some of their appetizers as well, so we ordered the

IMG_4517.jpg

Tostadas de Jaiba, seasoned blue crab meat tostadas, white chipotle mayo and Valentina Sauce. They were really yummy and we both dug into them before taking a photo! ;)

Here's a closer up look!

IMG_4518.jpg

and we ordered something else ..........

IMG_4516.jpg

Guacamole, with a side of fried flour chicharrons, drizzled with Valentina Sauce, and it was out of this world good! The Avocado was still junky and it had a bit of a bite, but was not really hot! Yummyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

Did Tom like his Margarita Flight you ask yourself? Take a look!

IMG_4532.jpg

Once we had finished our drinks and yummy food we "had to" leave as people were already eying our table.

On the way over to the International Gateway we saw this Cast Member painting with his broom!

IMG_4534.jpg

IMG_4536.jpg

It was fun watching him and the kids that started to gather around him. We then left through the International Gateway and caught a boat back to the Studios.

Next up - YES, we did eat even more that day! A late dinner at the California Grill!

I LOVE good, fresh, chunky guacamole. That looks great! I really want to try this place!

Ooooh....those margaritas look very tasty...may have to stop and try that on the next visit. :)

We're not drinkers, but that food looks great! Can you tell me if the dishes contained cilantro? I think that's what's on top of them, but I can't tell for sure. And God forbid I should eat cilantro... ugh!

You HAVE TO try it! It is a wonderful place, very small and the atmosphere is great! As are the drinks!
To be honest that was the BEST guacamole I have ever had ........ and Tom makes a pretty good one. But this one being so chunky and so nicely spiced was out of this world!
Go for it, next time ....... the perfect place to celebrate the arrival of little Mindy, who is "drop dead cute"! And one lucky little lady to become a member of your family! :goodvibes

Don't say "may", Kat! You and "ROMEO" HAVE to check it out! I am sure TigerKat will second that! This place is out of this world!

I really want to try LaCava on our upcoming trip on 4/14. Do people bring kids in there? Is it awful that I want to bring my 3 kids in there with me and my husband so I can try that margarita flight?!!:rotfl:

Actually what's on top of the Guacamole is definitely NOT cilantro. I had to go back and actually look what it looked like :lmao:
If there was any in the crab tostadas then I could not tell - I HATE cilantro, tastes like soap to me, but I definitely didn't notice it. I will ask Tom tomorrow (it's 11.35pm here) it's too late to call him today and I'll let you know as soon as we talked!

There were kids on the table at the end of the restaurant and there was definitely a stroller in there, so I guess you should be save bringing your kids. And NO it is not awful to bring your kids there - let them experience the whole of Walt Disney World! ;)
By the way the Margarita flight was wonderful! Good choice! :goodvibes

Thanks! If you're a fellow cilantro-hater and thought it was all good, then that's all I need to know! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to go there on our next trip!

You said the place was small... how small? And since you snagged a table yourselves, I'm guessing it's a "seat yourself" type of place? Did a server come take your order, or how did it work? I'm excited, but I just can't find much about it online!

I read about it in a few trip/dining reviews and it sounded like a place we might enjoy, and we really did!:thumbsup2

Yip, the place is pretty small. I think there were about 5 or 6 tables for 4 and about 2 tables for two, with people even sitting in huge living room chairs around a small coffee table. Please don't be cross with me if the table count is not correct, but I didn't pay that much attention.
Yes, it is a seat yourself place, but a server comes to take your order.
