Hakuna Matata - Marching in like Lions!

Kirsty, Yes, what's so frustrating is it's there. I wouldn't have made it to mile 23 at that pace if it wasn't.
Connie, Thanks for your support and logical outlook.
Vicky, I'm heading to Chicago in October (10-10-10) [and now KNOW I can get my BQ barring the unexpected] and then going Goofy in January.
Enjoying getting to recover. No running today!
In other exciting news, I got into Peachtree!

Best,
Jennifer

Jennifer- I am not Connie, but Thanks anyway.

Congratualtions on getting into the Peachtree-will add it to the Team Race Calendar.

Happy Monday Team,

I got my program workout in today outside on our bikepath. Ran 6/ walked 1 minute(s) for 42 minutes. Covered 3.8 miles for an overall pace of 11:06. Walked the rest back for a total of six miles. Cold and blustery with the sun shining bright. I've got to remember the sunscreen next time as I have some red cheeks now!
Signed up for the Penguin in the Park 5k on Saturday. I should be able to meet John Bingham. They are predicting 40 degrees and rain. It should be interesting!
Alice in Wonderland was pretty good, Loved the scenery!
----------------

Jennifer~ Sorry to hear about the tough time you had. Remember it as a learning experience and grow from it. Take it easy for a while!

Vicky~ For me to lose weight I cut out all the soda and sugery snacks that I love. Also, I eat less and move more. I tend to plateau about every ten pounds or so. This is the first time that I have followed and exercise program and the first time that I have crosstrained while running.

Kirstie~ Wishing you some :wizard: for the parts to materialize soon!

Margie~ How is Hagen? Doing better I hope! Thanks for listing the team races! We are both doing the Everest Challenge again this year. So far it's my favorite race! (I don't care if it rains, it adds to the adventure!)

Dave~ You are a training machine! By the way, I like being somebody who is "out there"! Once people get to know me, they usually join me! :rotfl: I'm even worse since the cancer!

Regina and Gerry~ Tell us about your workouts!

Saw the preview for the second TRON movie! I'm stoked!!

Have a great day everyone! Mike:cool2:

Hi gang, just a quick drive by to let you all know I am alive and well, life just a bit crazy right now. Will catch up soon

Kim:flower3:

Margie, My apologies. Somehow I put race calendar and team captain together in my head and thus labelled you, Connie

Jennifer, No need to apologize!

Connie is way used to being blamed for things I say :goodvibes
And she has had a lot on her plate and been extra busy since WDW-
So I did the Race Calendar- as I really like to know who I am thinking of and cheering for each week.

Sooooo Updated Calendar to follow.

Hakuna Matata Team 2010 Race Calendar

:cheer2: March 20th Jennifer - DC Marathon / Full Marathon

Moved Updated Calendar to 1st page Post #2

Margie, Peachtree is just a 10k, no fulls until Chicago.

I'm also probably doing the 14.2 mile Tupelo Half-Marathon on Labor Day

Hi all,

Lynn- Have you done the DL half before? It would actually be an easier race for us to get to based on the location (California/Idaho), but I just couldn't resist the magic of a night race and getting to run through multiple parks (even if only for a few brief moments.

Mary- I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like it will be a very emotional race. :sad1: How did you like Expedition Everest?

Margie, Mike & Sue- Thanks for the warm welcome!!

Dave- Of course! Seems totally normal to me...I'm sure stranger things have happened right?

Jennifer- I'm sorry to hear you had such a terrible race. Good luck with your recovery and future races!

Kirstie- When are they going to make your part? That doesn't sound like very good business. Congrats on all your successes! What made you decide you wanted to start racing?

Vickey- I will be using Tom Holland's beginning half marathon plan. My goal for this race is to finish. I would really like to make this a lifestyle change and as I get more experience under my belt, start increasing my goals to better times. I would also love to run the famous Goofy Challenge, but am shooting for that in 2012. What race are you in this Sunday? Good luck!! :cheer2:

I am headed to the gym to run on the TM. Weather outside is windy and rainy (off and on). Right now I'm working on my goal to run for 30 minutes straight and as soon as I get there, will start working on my half marathon training plan. Today is my last day of 8min run/2 min walk X 3. Then tomorrow is my first 9min run/1 min walk X3. It' weird- when I was at 4min run, 3min walks, it seemed a lot scarier to me to run for 8 or 9 min, but now that I'm here, I'm excited. We'll see how it goes when I get to 30 min straight though (some days it seems scarier to me than other days!)

Hoping everyone is well!

Regina I'm crazy enough to walk in run races and expect to beat some of the runners. I train just like a runner with speed intervals, LSD days and tempo walks.

Margie what would we do without you dear?

Mike I'm the leader of the "You ain't right" club.

Dave

I've been around. My allergies flared up (yay! spring is here). I think Benadryl is a better sleep aid then Tylonol PM. I had lunch with the df, then fell asleep while doing laundry. He kept poking me to wake up, but I was blissfully sleeping away. So I have been dealing with that as well as another frantic week at work.

Hi Team this is just a brief Fly-By! :wave2:

Jennifer-I updated Peachtree 10K;
Help...they are calling it a Half marathon
the race that you are doing on Labor Day?
And it is actually 14.2 miles not the normal 13.1 miles? :confused3

Dave- Thanks, but the whole Team is truly helping our
Captain Connie out with all they do!

Mega Thanks to everyone for all you do, as you know
she is a wee bit stressed out right now. :grouphug:

Hope-: Feel Better Soon and you need lots of sleep,
it is Way the best Medicine! :grouphug:

Scott- did you make it home? :upsidedow
We did not get the snow!

Vicky- Thanks - my little Hagen is improving, but not good yet.
No did not make it to the gym this morning- :headache:

Early morning tomorrow-must try to sleep. :faint:

Talk to you tomorrow...

I signed the kids up for the mini Muddy Buddy as well in May.

I just enrolled myself and DW for the Halloween 5k in Oct.

May try to sneak a 5k in next week West Orange 5k

Good morning everyone! Didn't make it out for my run this morning due to the rain. If it had have been light and drizzly, I would have gone but I could hear the rain on my roof so I figured it was a little too heavy. Will give it a try tonight. Went to the gym last night and did some metabolic exercises, lighter on the weights because of Sunday. Got a nice compliment from my trainer on my shoulders and from another trainer at the gym who said my fitness level had improved a lot. :cloud9: No aches and pains today *knock on wood* A good night's sleep 7+ hours will do wonders!

Hope - I get end of summer allergies. I'm alergic to the cold weather :rotfl: Seriously I think it's from ragweed or something like that. It's usually not too bad if the humidity stays low. Feel better soon!

Regina - I'll bet you'll be running 30 mins straight in no time :) Sunday is Around the Bay. It's a 30K race. I'm trying to increase my running distance to prep for the full in January. It's a little bit scary but I think it will be fun :) A friend of mine is going to WDW at the same time as the W&D 1/2. Now I'm thinking of going maybe just for the weekend. It's tempting but it's so close to January...

Mike - I have a big problem with sugar :upsidedow I'm usually good as long as I don't start but once I do... Yikes! Good job on the 3.8 miler! Great pace!

Connie - Hope everything is okay!

Margie - How's it going today? Do you have any races planned?

Gerry - Always wanted to try a muddy buddy type race! They look fun :)

Kirstie - I know what you mean about the $$ for races. I usually try to sign up early to get in on a better rate but then there are all of the processing fees for registering online. With the Prilosec sponsorship, is that contest for sponsorship?

Sue - Next "big" race will be the Acura 10 Miler in July and then the Scotiabank 1/2 after that. I missed out on registration for the T.O. Women's 1/2. I'm still deciding on the DL 1/2. Airfare from Toronto to LAX is not cheap :( How's training going for Ottawa? Is DH running that one as well?

Better get back to work! Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Vicky It is a competion.
I think that everyone here should enter, we are all passionate about our running / walking.

Regina...thanks for your kind thoughts. EE was a fun race, until the rain started. About halfway through, the sky just opened up and it was like running in a monsoon! The medal for the race is a really cool compass, and DH, being an ex-boy scout, really was excited about getting one. When we got to the obstacle course, he said he wasn't going to do it because it was raining so hard. I told him "If you don't you won't get the medal." We did skip the balance beams because they were so wet and looked like a good way to break a leg! Then he said he wasn't going to do the scavenger hunt. Again I said, "If you don't you won't get the medal." As we were walking into the AK, we saw lightning. I think at this time they shut down the race, but we never got the message! We finished the scavenger hunt and got our medals even though it was pouring! Almost as soon as we finished, the rain stopped, but we were soaked to the skin so we just went back to our resort. There was one casualty from the race. DH had his Blackberry in his pocket, and it was dead from getting so wet. He had to get a new one after we got home! Thank goodness for cell phone insurance!
