Hakuna Matata - Fall-ing into the cool race season!

We are having a good time for sure,

Dl 5k in the bag, they ran out of medals, I was mid pack and they ran out just as I got to the distribution point. Poor planning, me thinks.

Knee felt good pace was 12 min, did some running and took advantage of choke points for walking.

All cleaned up and we will chill today,

Finish my 5k in 30:17. No PR but a good run still. i saw 2 people from my run club there so that was cool. Mike beat me (of course). He's much faster than I am. I blame the longer legs he has but really he works harder too:thumbsup2. He makes me so proud.

Glad every one's doing so well!

Hi Team!

Vicky- Hi! Where are you? Haven’t heard from you in a few days!

Hope- Thanks for the input on pick a pearl. Welcome back! Glad you decided to check in. It might help to focus on one day a at a time.

Mike- Thanks! I’m counting down for W&D myself! There’s a lady who forms wax at Epcot? I’ll keep an eye out for that. That’s great news you’re off the blood thinners. Irish Jig Jog huh? Sounds interesting…What else do they do for the festival? Great job on your 5K!!!! Congrats on your 10mi PR too! You get faster and faster!!!

Connie- Do you mean downtown Disney for the other pick a pearl place?

Lynne & Scott- How was the DL half?!?! Can’t wait to read all about it! How can they run out of medals for the 5K when it closes months in advance and they already know how many are participating since they have a cap?

Emily- How was the DL half?!?! I can’t wait to read your race report and hear how it went!!! Have you heard back on the house offer yet?

Margie- Thanks for the feedback on pick a pearl. How was the farmer’s market?

Dave- Congrats on your house deal! I’m glad you found one you liked and that you were able to find an agreement.

Sue- Hi! Is it still really hot in Ontario? Have you noticed the weather cooling down at all? What’s the ultimate ice cream?

Connie- How long will you be hunting again?

Liz- Congrats on your 5k!!!! Great job!!!!

Taryn- Happy Birthday!!!!

AFM, I am going to attempt a long run tonight at about 8 or 9pm. We will see how it goes. Otherwise, I’m off to have a BBQ with family here shortly. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Hi team! Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend! The weather has done a complete turn around here. Last week, it was hot, humid and sunny and this weekend has been cool, windy and cloudy. I even took my running sleeves with me on both my 10 and 5 milers.

Margie - Did some more condo viewings this weekend. You can really tell who lives in a unit - guy, girl, someone athletic ... I found another loft space that I really like - good area, right price, not beside the garbage chute  Still haven't got the government cheque yet so I can't do anything yet :( But I'm going to be relaxed about it.

Regina - I'm just hanging out and being lazy this weekend! I'm trying not to hang out as much on the computer. I'm still trying to de-clutter my room and catch up on sleep :)

Liz - Congrats on your 5K time! I love seeing other runners I know at races! I see Kim and her DH at almost every race I go to!

Mike - Holy roadrunner! Can't wait to see how you do at W&D! Did you go and check out the giant rootbeer float?

Scott - I can't believe they ran out of medals! There must have been a lot of disappointed runners :( I hope they're more organized for the 1/2 today! Can't wait to see your pics and read your RR!

Sue - I've never been to Kawartha Dairy. I assume that's the ice cream that you're referring to :goodvibes

Taryn - Happy birthday!

Dave - Love the house!

I will check back in later! :wave2:

Hi guys.

I did a strong 8 mile training walk tonight. That is significant because Pandas that can do a strong 8 miles can do a half marathon and I have one in 2 weeks. I'm a little sore but I've come a long way in the last month after that month long injury layoff from training.

I'm up here in Paducah Ky and my walk was along the side of the road with a nice hill to play on. I was feeling great even after an hour of hard effort, then came down the hill and felt like I was flying. It's been a while since I have felt that.

Good morning guys.

The big test of how my PF is healing was this morning. I didn't hurt when I got out of bed this morning. As Kimmer, Connie, Lynn and Margie all know the next morning is when you suffer after a workout.

I'm so glad to get back to training pain free, I've still lost a lot aof fitness and endurance but now there is light at the end of the tunnel and hope for the Goofy.

It's started being a little cooler here, I hope we get a real fall this year and don't go right into winter like we did last year.

Have a great labor day.

Dave:hippie:

Hi kids, the half went well, I ran a bit and walked a good deal, I gotta do some research on this walking and the bug Dave for some pointers, arm swing etc, must get knowledge. Anyway did ok considering , not sure of official time as I forgot to turn off the gamin at the finish, guessing about a 3:08 ish, not hurting and that is good.

Weather was great , nice cloud cover during the race.

As Lynn finished they had run out of coast to coast medals, but as she was in line to give shipping info more arrived and she got her c2c medal.

Lynn did really well with here knee, proud of her.

Waiting to drive to the airport.

Connie- hope you are having a great time!

Dave-WTG-nice 8-miler. Glad to hear not PF problems and
the down hill return felt like you were flying!

Emily-We are eagerly waiting for your report!

Lynn-Congratulations! Glad you got your Medals!

Regina- I like the Farmer's Market a lot.
All stands has to be a local farmer or business.
This one is amazing.
They have stands that serve food and coffee. They have stands that
even sell meat and fish! But I go for the fresh veggies!

Scott-Congratulations- Great race and so glad to hear your knee was okay!
:lmao: I forget to turn of my Garmin a lot too!

Vicky-you have a while so you do not need to be in a hurry
but it sure is nice to know what is available and affordable!

Good Morning Team!

We are sitting at the airport waiting for our flight home. Races went well, I was doing really well - close to a 16 mm pace until mile 11 when my knee began to hurt, but never was in the sweeper zone and finished in 3:40 which is about 10 min faster than I did in Jan. My overall pace was 16:30.

Emily - it was good to see you and your husband, sorry I lost you before getting to the corral, hope you had a good race.

Robert - saw you in passing a few times, sorry we did not get to chat.

Congrats to all who raced this weekend.

Have a great day all!

Hello team! Hope everyone is having a great Labour Day :) I saw from the DL Half results that Kirstie is racing again! Congrats!

Margie - I like your quote for today! How was your bike ride? I hope the rain stopped long enough so that you were able to fit it in.

Scott/Lynn - Congrats on your finishes! Fantastic times :cheer2:

Dave - Great news on your PF! Glad to hear that you're staying pain free!

Hi Team,

It's 3:23 am and I'm off work tonight, slept most of the day! I did run four miles yesterday with a pace of 9:33 and walked two more. It was overcast and a little rainy, but cleared up and became a nice day.

Scott and Lynn~ Great job, enjoy those medals! I'm glad that Scott's knee held up and Lynn set a quicker time!

Vicky~ Have fun while looking for a new nest. No, I didn't make it to the rootbeer float creation. I don't know if they broke the record. :confused3

Regina~ How did your long run go after the BBQ? No way, I could do that.

Dave~ I'm very happy to hear about your awesome workout, it's amazing how it can put spirits and anticipation of an upcoming race so high!

Margie~ Did you get your bike ride in?

Check back soon, Mike :cool2:

Hi everyone! It still feels like a Monday to me :) I got an email this morning saying my marathon clinic has been postponed for two weeks because they didn't get enough people to join. I figure if they don't run the clinic, I'll ask for a refund and just run with their groups for free on Wednesdays and Sundays. Maybe I should have just done that in the first place and saved my money

Well, it is week one of marathon training. I'm going to use one of Higdon's plans. I'm undecided between the novice and intermediate plans. Someone told me that the intermediate plan was quite difficult (too many miles) but looking at the novice plan, it seems light. My goal is just to finish so I'm not sure. Maybe I'll mix two of the plans together and do a hybrid.

Mike - I don't know whether 3:23AM is too early or too late for me :) Good job on the 4 miler! What are you hoping to finish W&D in?

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - go with the hybrid, none of the those plans are perfect and all need some tweeking to fit an individuals needs and schedule!

Mike - Thanks!

We are back home and back to normal schedule. I had to pick up dogs this morning because kennel was not open yesterday. It was cold here this morning, 37 degrees when I got up! It should get up to 75 today, and 85 by Thurs., so fall is not here yet! I got some of the unpacking done yesterday, but have more to do today, as well as :laundy:, and lots of errands. I will get the dogs out for a loop later, as it will never really get hot, I am not in a hurry!

Have a great day team!

Good Afternoon Team!

Congrats to all the weekend racers! :thumbsup2

Kim/ Vicky, Kawartha Dairy (Minden). It was so worth the calories. Can't say I enjoyed the temp change, BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRR but it didn't stop the kids from swimming.

Nothing exciting to report. Might take tonight off............Sue

Hi Team,

Vicky~ I hope to fininsh the Wine and Dine in about 2:11, which would be ten minutes a mile. It would be a triumph for me. I guess it will depend on how much of the crowd I have to manuver around and how my hip holds up. This will be my first half marathon and I think it will be easier than the upcoming Donald in January because it will be harder to train in the winter. The good thing about this one is that it is at night, which is my time to be awake!

Kirstie was indeed at the DL half! I hope that she reports in here!

AFM~ I spent the better part of the morning looking for replacement tiles for our living room ceiling where the roof leaked a while back. The roof was replaced, found the tiles, but they no longer make the grid system to install them. In other words, a simple project just became a major one in many ways! Grrrrrrr!

-Mike :cool2:

I'm back from Paducah and ready for a super busy day here. Starting with walk training with my homies then meeting the banker to lock in my interest rate and do what ever else is needed now that we have the house picked out.

Have a magical day y'all. I'll check back in when I come up for air.
