Hakuna Matata: Dash away, dash away, dash away All!

Hi All,
6.5 miles in 56 minutes (about 8:35 pace). All into a 10 mile an hour head wind (not fun).

Santa Claus is bringing me a Garmin for Christmas and I can't wait for it.

Hope none of you got hit by this horrible snow storm.

Best,
Jennifer

Got out for a run and then went with Lynn to walk the pups .

A Blizzard Warning is in effect now for much of Rhode Island. This includes all coastal areas, but has recently been expanded to include Providence, RI;
The snow will be heaviest between Midnight and 8 AM…then the bulk will have exited the region by mid to late morning Sunday. However, a change from yesterday’s thinking is that it will continue to snow lightly through most of Sunday afternoon…ending around sundown in the east.
Basically the highest amounts will be in the Blizzard Warning area… from 10 to 16 inches now being advertised, but some spot 18 inch amounts are possible in southeast MA or southern RI.

No running today but will make up for it with shoverlin' tommorow,,, looks like DS is stuck in NY with his friends and GF for another day, hope he's not too sad :lmao:

I echo Scott all you New Englanders stay safe.

It's even cold down here in the South.

15 miles in 2:18 [9:15 pace]. It felt good to have a true long run again. Going 18 next week, and then probably going to try to squeeze in a 20 before Disney.

Best,
Jennifer

We did Wii Fit Plus and it was really a work out, I was rather surprised.

Sorry to be MIA for so long!

Dave - good to hear that you have had some good days!

Did my 10 miles today. Quads are a little sore, but otherwise feel good. We're heading to Denver on Tuesday to spend Christmas with our DD. Flying back on the 26th, family get together on the 27th, so my next long run will be on the 28th, but then I start the taper!:cheer2:

Congrats on the biopsy and have fun in Denver - you will be just a few hours south of us! Hope the weather holds for you, it has been nice here for the last few days.

Hope all you on the east coast are surviving the storms!

We did get in a good walk yesterday, today was fun on the Wii. I did get quite a bit walking in watering the trees, going from back to front moving the hoses, and back again.

If I don't get back again before Christmas, have a great Christmas and Happy Holidays! Have a great week!

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

Jack & Denise and anyone on the East Coast is everyone okay?
Do not know about your areas, but heard many are without power

Kim, Sue, and Vicky-did you guys get any of the stormy weather? :upsidedow

Lynn- we have missed you!

Kim-please at least call the podiatrist today! It is more than possible they can help with your heel pain making the Goofy a more enjoyable pain free experience for you! Connie is going today :cloud9:

Connie-thanks for helping me pass the time on the DM yesterday!
pixiedust:pixiedust: very good you are going to the doctor today for your foot and hip! :upsidedow

Michigan got dumped on (prior to) but nothing compared the intensity of the East Coast storm-

Jack- sorry to hear DS was stranded with DGF :rolleyes1

Jennifer- Good Grief what training plan are you on? This does not sound good to me. You need time to rest those muscles-
Going 18 next week, and then probably going to try to squeeze in a 20 before Disney.

Our Weather is Yuck-Road conditions Yuckier-Impossible to Walk outside here! They told me the Mall was open to walkers at 8:am Sunday, but I found all door locked. Stopped for a coffee and headed home to the DM- I did all 20 miles on that thing. All I can say is I got through it-it was very not fun & difficult to do. The adjustment in my BP medication has helped a lot!!!!! :crazy2:

I tried the duck tape on my feet, no new blisters, or hot spots.
Had muscle twinges and could not go to sleep, so at 12:30am I finally got up and took 2 Motrin. Slept good-calves feel tight, but not sore this morning. :upsidedow

Are we in Taper yet! :worship:

I need to get out and shovel the walk - both boys today. :upsidedow

Later -

Good morning Hakuna Matata!

Kim - I am hoping for a Dr's appointment for today. I need an adjustment and a cortizone shot for the tendonitis in my foot. There is plenty of time to actually feel better with the right treatments! I haven't trained as well as I had hoped and planned, but I have some long miles in and I have noticed that but for the pain, I feel great! :rotfl: See about that appointment this week!

Dave - So glad to hear you found your wallet! That'a relief! Sounds like the days are getting easier. I am reminded of a song by John Cougar Mellancamp and it says that Life is still short even on it's longest days. Which of course reminds me of the Jimmy Buffet song which says, I would rather die while I am living than to live while I'm dead! (Blame all this on my DH, he has been feeling low about his brother's death the last few days!) But congrats!

Margie - My pleasure helping you to pass the time. The DM is hard enough! I hope you feel generous with me during the Goofy! :lmao:

MaryJ - I am joining the chorus! :cheer2: Thank goodness there were no problems! If you have it available, do the Digital mamagrams from here on out. They are more accurate and easier to read and they don't cost anything extra!

I hope everyone is safe and warm!

AFM - We went out of town so that I could try to do my 20 miler. I did 10.5. I was walking around a lake and it was overcast and super windy. The temp never went above 37 degrees. The wind and the cold actually burned my skin where it was exposed. Fortunately, there wasn't much exposed. It was really, really difficult walking. I did 6 miles yesterday. Between them it wasn't 20 miles, but I CAN DO THIS.

Let the packing begin!

Hi everyone! Did a 5 mile pace run on Saturday and got a touch of frost bite on my tummy :( Go figure! I think it's because the wind was getting in under my jacket and then underneath my shirt. It's my fault really because a lot of my running stuff is loose and I have bothered to replace anything. But I am happy that I did the run in under 50 minutes, not a lot but definitely better than some of the runs I've been out on lately.

Yesterday I did my 11 miler - the weather was perfect! Not too cool and lots of sun! My heart wasn't really into though and for some reason I'm not really looking forward to my 12 miler this weekend. I think I just really want to taper...:upsidedow

Margie - Glad to hear the new BP meds are working out. Nope the weather was cold on Saturday but still sunny. Yesterday was "warm" and sunny so we couldn't have asked for better weather on the weekend. Hope everything starts to melt and clear up for you.

Connie - I have to find room to put my suitcase down  Once Christmas is over, I'm hoping there will be more space. Everything is really chaotic at my house right now.

Kim - pixiedust: for your heel! Don't put off getting an appointment though - a lot of doctors and clinics are closed next week because Boxing Day falls on Monday and New Year's Eve is on Thursday.

Lynn - :wave2:

Sue - Thanks for the cold weather warming on Saturday. Looking out the window I never would have guessed how cold it was. I'm glad I took my winter hat instead of just my cap.

Scott - I've heard that the Wii Fit Plus is a big improvement over the Wii Fit. One thing I never liked about Wii Fit was that you couldn't join exercises together to create a routine but I've heard with the new version you can.

Take care and keep warm everyone! :wave2:

Hi guys I did a super workout this morning, meet another walker at the park and we did interval training, total workout was 4 miles but it was a killer. I'm certainly back. I was cranking out 400m sprints at 8:20 mpm walking pace.

I haven't been doing this well since 2007. Getting good sleep and so much less stress is really making a difference. I'm amazing myself how much I have improved just in this last month.

Kim, do it!

Have a magical day y'all

Dave:hippie:

Margie, It's the craziness of 5 weeks between marathons in which you are trying to qualify in the 2nd. I'm also planning to peak around 70 miles a week in time for my March marathon. So a lot of this is base building.

35 minutes on the bike this morning (8.5 miles) and then 25 minutes of strength training.

Best,
Jennifer

Good Morning Team:

Spent some time doing errands for the holidays all weekend. Nothing major just the usual things. Yesterday our snow amounted to about 1 inch. It stayed south of us, which will happen sometimes and we always do a happy dance when it does.

My cold/sinus thing is almost cleared up so it will be back to working out soon – finally. Mark and I were tempted to go for a walk on Saturday but the cold in my lungs just makes me cough so it’ll have to wait a bit.

I see Jeff the runner has a countdown now and then on facebook for race weekend and I do feel a bit envious at times but know my decision was the correct one. I will not participate in any team next year and I again will not be training and don’t feel it’s fair to the team to post only a bit of miles or hours. Dedication is needed to help the team along.

I will certainly check on everyone’s progress and of course get some insight when needed by all that are knowledgeable here but that will be the extent of it.

I wish all of you a happy holiday season, many work outs and less pig-outs so that you can be lean, mean running/walking machines for the race.

Take care all.

Good Monday Morning Team! Great training everyone!!

For mid December I couldn't have asked for better training weather. :worship:

Margie, Yes, we've made it to the taper. :woohoo: Nice work on your 20 miler. Drag it was on the DM. You should be so pleased with yourself.

Vicky, The sun on the weekend was great. I even wore sunscreen.
Nice time on your 5miler.

Kim, pixiedust: for your heel and another one telling you it's not too late to visit the doctor.

Sat. night was family movie night. We watched "UP". This was me

Keep the training going. Stay warm........Sue

We did Wii Fit Plus and it was really a work out, I was rather surprised.

I just bought that yesterday, can't wait to try it. I also bought Toy Story mania. Haven't tried either yet but it should be fun.

d

Denise,

First, we don't know if there even going to be teams.

Second, there is no REAL competition between teams.

Third, I don't know what third is....but we miss you!

Fourth, racing ...not racing...the title is WISH as in We're inspired to stay healthy!

Please don't drop us like a hot rock! :sad2:

Sorry Kids it was Wii Active we did and were able to workout together. looking into Wii Fit Plus, too much t keep strait in my little brain,

Busy at work just looked at my watch and saw it was 12:30, where did the day go.

Oh I did get a 2 miles on the TM in this morn.

Guys I had one of those days yesterday that touched on heaven and hell all in the same day. I'll tell more when we get to meet each other and talk in person but wow.

I'm off to the gym now for a good crosstraining day.

I made some decisions yesterday based on some enlightening events. I think now it's time to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep pursueing my dreams.

Have a magical day dear friends, I'm thankful for all of you.

Dave:hippie:

Dave, I hope everything worked out okay.

As for me, 8 miles in 1hr 8 minutes (8:30 pace). Enjoying some time at home.

Jennifer

Not much of import to report :) Super chilly morning!! I think it was about -14C or 7F with the windchill! Brr... I may just take the night off if it's that cold when I leave work. I'm pretty much waiting for Thursday -- not much else is happening at work.

Dave - Can't wait to hear what happened... sounds interesting.

Sue - Thanks for the sunscreen reminder! I have to add that to my packing list.

Denise - I have TSM for the Wii. I thought it was okay but have only played it a couple of times.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:
