Hakuna Matada - Hot, hot July!

Congratulations Kimmer. I'm at 6 lbs lost right now. I've become very motivated. My second place finish in that last race has made me determined to drop the 30 lbs I need to. I was 191 two weeks ago and now I'm at 185.

Very frog flippin hot and humid walk with my group this morning, we did 6.7 miles. We went a little slower today since it was so hot and one of our group was nursing a hurt toe. The last half of the training walk I decided to kick it in gear and finished about a quarter mile ahead of the rest of the group.

How are all the Goofy hopefulls doing with their training? I'm half marathon ready right now.

I finally figured out the secret of weight loss. Heat. A thick blanket of heat is all I need to keep me from eating too much. Only cold veggies, fruit, and water for dinner. Our temps are to remain over 100 until Monday so I guess I'll be down a few pounds in no time. ;)

Hi everyone. Vicky offered to let me come join you guys, and I'm hoping that's okay. Is there room for another? :) I belong to one official group and one other unofficial, but there's just not much activity, and I am hoping to get more support and, frankly, to give more support. I hope that's okay.
I'd also like to be part of the weight loss challenge. I just finished one and managed to reach my goal weight, but have gained back 5 pounds this summer going back to college. Who knew that sitting on your butt for 5 or 6 hours a day would do that? ;)

Rest day for the Panda, who by the way is 8 lbs lighter than he was 2 weeks ago. I'm finally making progress on that 30 lbs that I need to lose to get to my racing weight. Grrrrrrr!! and double Grrrrrrr!!

Dave you are a machine, how is Sally doing? WIll she be doing the 1/2 in disney this year?

I am trying to stay cool this weather is nuts, did not exercise last night took a rest day to watch the Deathly Hallows part 1 last night again so I am ready to go see part 2 tonight.

Vicky, I did get your text yesterday but something weird happened to my phone had to go to bell to get it corrected but then your text was gone so don't know what you said:headache:

Tonight is just some light cross trainning but will be after the movie hoping it will be cool enough outside for a bike ride.

Sally is doing good Kimmer. Her back is lots better and she has started back easy walking. She is doing 30 min tonight at the mall after she gets off from work.

We are really working on the weight loss and healthy eating. We don't have any race plans for Sally right now just some weight loss and regular walking.

I'm headed out early in the morning for a good strong 4 mile training walk. I want to push it so I need to go before it's 100 degrees.

Sally and I have been eating really well. Tonight we made Jambalaya using fresh lean ham chunks instead of sasuage and shrimp, chicken breast and fresh mushrooms. We even used brown rice. We bought a ton of fruit for snacking on instead of typical snack stuff.

It's 5 am and I'm up for a shower before the race... Storms all night and more on the way!
Things have been rough here. If you recall, Liz's Uncle died of cancer, and now we got news that my cousin has only a short time left.

I'll be back with more when I can post a race report...

Dave: Congrats on your weight loss. You are definitely doing it the right way! The diet sounds really healthy. I lost all my weight through clean eating, but as soon as I started in on the processed foods again, I started gaining. Well, that, plus beer. :rolleyes1 I am hoping to get it all back together again soon.

Kim: I am so proud of you for losing those 10 pounds. Great job! :thumbsup Did you get to see Harry Potter? I don't watch the movies, but love the books so much that I've read them all 3 times now. I heard this one was really good and actually stuck more to the book than some of the others.

AFM: I have only run once this week, which stinks. I was hoping to get 10 in today, but it's soooooo hot. High is predicted to be 107! I may have to dust off the old treadmill. :laughing:

For those of you who don't know me (which is everyone but Kim and Vicky), I don't have any races going on right now. I did Goofy this January, and then, a 10k and a 5k, but I've got a nagging injury that is sidelining me. I am planning on running my first ultra next April (44 miles solo), so I am debating taking some time off from running entirely. Maybe a month or 2, in order to heal. Right now, I'm trying to get 20-25 miles in each week, but am planning on getting to the doctor soon and then, will start my break.

AFM - I did my long run this morning, which was only 4 miles this week. I'm glad it was a short run since I was very tired.

I ordered a WISH shirt. I hope it fits! It may not be here for DL, but I'll have it for January.

I think I've lost about 2 pounds :), but I definitely need to do better at eating and exercising.

My DD10 and I are running the Expedition Everest Challenge together in 2012. We started training yesterday. I hope this will encourage her to remain healthy and I hope it will increase her self-confidence.

Did someone on this team run it? Mike maybe? Gerry?

Hi Team.

Sally and I experimented with good healthy nutrient dense omlets tonight. Yum.

Training is going better and better as is the weight loss. You will see a different Panda come January. Grrrrrrr!!

At 60 I'll never be the athlete I was at 30 but I can blaze a new trail into beating back the age number.

Hope everyone is feeling positive and moving forward. Is it January yet? I need me some Disney time.

AFM: My scale is moving in the right direction as well and I am thrilled. I have decided to cut out a few races this fall, 1 because we have had a few unexpected expenses over the last few months, a few car repairs, buying a new washing machine, new car and for the other reason, I want to concentrate more on weight loss then worried about sticking to a race schedule, only one I am now doing between now and disney is A Mid Summer Nights run it is just a 15K with no real time limit. I too hope to be a new person by marathon weekend.

Kimmer does that mean you will not be at the USAF half? The Canadain dollar might be worth a lot more here real soon against the US dollar.

I'm going to race again on Saturday. I'm wondering how the 2 weeks of healthy eating and weight loss will affect my race effort. It's another 2 mile walk race so another short and fast.

I did EE in 2010. I seem to remember seeing a mother/ daughter team while I was there. It was a lot of fun until it started to rain, and bay rain, I mean monsoon! We kept going and finished it all because we wanted that awesome medal.

I went to the gym on Saturday and did 8 miles on the indoor track. Had to stop and stretch halfway thru because I could feel my hammies getting tight. Thought I would be really sore on Sunday, but no. :banana:

Mike...So sorry to hear that you are having such sadness in your families. You and Liz are in my thoughts.
 
Yup Dave we are out for USAF, very sad about it but just need to take care of some bills and forgot to add DD's tuition and books for Sept so something had to give.
