Hakuna Matada - Hot, hot July!

Hey everyone!! Quick check in as the weather here is quite ugly so going to power everything down before the lightening knocks everythign out.

Long weekend for us here in Ontario....yaaaa tonight 1 have a 4 miler, then x-trainning....housework. Tomoroww we are going to Ribfest in Scarborough, then off to Caribana to dance it off. Can't wait.

Have a super day all!!!

Wow Kimmer sounds like a good time all around. I'm getting Sally's passport card ordered this week so we can maybe come see some cool Canadian friends someday soon.

I'm heading out for a 4 miler as a tune up for tomorrows race. The heat will be a factor but I've been training in the heat so not to much of an problem.

I'm still eating healthy and smaller portions but the scale has stopped moving, Grrrrrr!

Have a great weekend y'all.

Ok gang! Happy Friday!

:yay: Here's the Biggest Loser Challenge! :yay:

We'll weigh in every Friday and there will be one winner for the biggest percentage of weight lost. As well, everyone will get points for the week and the person with the most points will be another winner :) Everyone will be responsible for keeping track of their own points. I like to use an Excel sheet because it makes it easy to keep track of the points.

And so long as there's interest, we can have this go on until the end of August!

Here's how the points will be awarded:

30 minutes of exercises daily - 1 point
Drinking 8 glasses of water a day (8oz each) - 1 point
5 servings of fruits and veggies daily - 1 point
Trying a new food/dish each week - 1 point (ideally this should be a healthy food) :)
Taking a daily vitamin - 1 point
Each pound of weight lost - 1 point (ie. 5lbs=5 points)

Bonus points
Person who has the biggest percentage of weight loss - 1 point
Successfully avoiding the week's temptation - 1 point (up to each inidivudal)
Completing my exercise of the week - 1 point x day

You can bank your exercise minutes so for example if you worked out for an hour on Monday and used Tuesday as a rest day, you'd still have 30 minutes over two days. I know people like rest days so I don't want to penalize anyone.

My exercise for the week is the plank. Let's try for 3 planks of 30 seconds each, rest for 2 minutes in between each plank. Do this each day for a bonus of 7 points for the week!

Starting weight (week 1)
Dave - 184 lbs
Tandy - 133.8 lb
Vicky - 139.5 lb  (good grief!)

Can I participate if my goal isn't weight loss? I don't mind weighing in and I see I can earn points other ways but really my weight isn't going to change much and if it does, it's going to go up, not down.

Of course :)

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - My starting weight for this week would be 138 (back to where I was before our trip to Missouri).

Kim - Have fun on your long weekend!

Dave - I will relay the message to Scott. If your pants are smaller in the waistline, and scale is still not moving, then you are losing fat and gaining muscle! Good luck on your race this weekend! Scott says you ended up with a good bike! We really like Trek!

Tandy - Have a good weekend!

AFM - Yesterday was a “rest day”, after the dog walk, we spent the entire day checking out the camper (testing the fridge, stove, heater, air conditioner, flushing the water system, washing the truck and camper). Today we got out for 26 miles on the bikes after the dog walk. The chore for today is cleaning the house!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Thanks Lynn, I'll let Sally know she picked a good one. I took her to the bike store and let her pick.

Vicky, that's cool, I'm still 184 but exercised over 20 miles this week. I take a vitamin every day and eat healthy so I'm good with it all now. New food tonight is baked pork chops.

Dave.:hippie:

I'm up at 5am having my pre race breakfast of cherieos, skim milk and coffee. A big glass of water and a vitamin and I'm all set to kick in the Grrrrr!!

I've been training in the heat and humidity and training on hills so I should be ready to race.

Have an awesome weekend y'll.

Overall winner, 2 miles, 20:17. Won a nice plaque and a gift card. Grrrrr!

Dave

Good Afternoon Team!

Dave - Congrats on your race!

AFM - today we did the equivalent of a LSR (only Scott does not believe in the slow part) - we rode 41 miles, one lap I really pushed because Scott said I was going too slow, probably a mistake because the last couple of miles were really hard. Hot today, will spend rest of day indoors doing house stuff.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day!

Hello team!

Saylan - Our hotel is a couple blocks south of the Red Lion. It looks like your hotel is close to Anaheim Gardenwalk which has dining and some shopping.

Tandy - Hope your finals went well!

Elizabeth - A race with your DD sounds like fun.

Dave - Congrats on your race!

Kim - WTG on cutting out pop! I try to limit how much I drink, about once per week or less, but don't think I could give it up completely.

Lynn - Good job on getting in all those miles.

Vicky - The DL training is going well. I was feeling unmotivated to run this week. It's odd because I thought I'd be more motivated because the race is getting closer.

AFM - We did our LR this morning. It went well and the weather was pretty good even though we got out a little bit later than we would have liked. It's been cooler here than elsewhere in the country. DH has to work today so I'll be spending the rest of the day doing errands and chores.

Can I participate in the challenge even if I don't post my weight? I'll be honest on my progress, but I'm embarrased about how much I weight

Have a good weekend!

Emily

Hard to believe that this is the last day of July. It's been an awesome month for Sally and I. She started working full time, my business improved and my training and racing finally started to come around. I even lost a bit of Panda pudge.

Sally and I are going to do an hour walk at the mall this morning after she gets to sleep late. Then we will either go fishing or a road trip some where. It's an easy relaxing day for me though since I've had a couple of hard workouts and a race the last few days. Tomorrow it's back to the speed intervals.

Hope everyone is having a super weekend.

Dave:hippie:

WTG Dave !!!!

Sorry forgot to give my starting weight. As embarrasing as it is I have to own it. 198.8 but that isn't what it will be when you all see me in January.:yay: Thanks Vicky for doing this.

Kim

Kimmer our waistline should never be looked as a gauge of who we are, but a goal to accomplish.

We just got back from the local sports bar where we spent my gift card for winning the race. I had the best BBQ Pizza I've ever had and Sally enjoyed some awesome Babyback ribs.

Hi Team!

Elizabeth- I’m glad you were able to sign up for the Princess Half and that your swelling is down enough to return to running. I think it’s awesome you and DD are going to Expedition Everest next year!

Emily- We saw Harry Potter last weekend. I also thought it followed the book fairly well. I’m glad your new shoes are working much better for you. I’m glad your run went well.

Kim- Congrats on the 10lbs lost!! That is great!! How did you like the finally HP movie? Dancing sounds like a fun and great way to work off a great dinner!

Tandy- Welcome to the team!! A trip to Europe sounds like fun! How long will you stay? Are you going to go anywhere else besides Germany while you’re there? Hope your trip to Texas goes well!

Dave- Congrats on the first place overall on your race this weekend!!!! That is great! Also, Congrats on the weight loss and your race a couple weeks ago!! I hope you and Sally enjoyed your day today.

Mike- I am sorry to hear about your cousin. Are you going to post a RR sometime?

Vicky- Thanks for the tip on the soy milk! Count me in for the weight loss challenge! I am weighing in today, because I didn’t check the boards until today, and with everything going on, I forgot about our weight loss challenge. I promise I’ll be on time this Friday. I weigh 139 and my goal is 125.

Saylan- I’m glad you have your room booked! I hope your knee gets to feeling better and doesn’t cause you too much frustration.

Lynn- Another free pancake breakfast? That sounds like a delicious breakfast. Are you going camping soon?

Mary- I think it’s great you got a discount from your hairdresser.

AFM, I’m home after my out of town work training. Last weekend was our birthday weekend so we went to see HP, had dinner at a local seafood buffet and basically enjoyed ourselves. We like to give ourselves a whole weekend instead of just a day. :woohoo: Work has been really busy. I ended up working almost 11 hours on Thursday, so we will see how this week goes. I’m looking forward to our team weight loss challenge! Right now it’s beautiful outside, but the clouds and fog tend to roll in at any time and at the drop of a hat. It’s kind of strange. I’ve never seen such fast moving clouds as they have here.

We have been trying to eat healthy here, and specifically are working on adding more fruits and veggies to our diet. Last weekend, we also bought a juicer so we can drink fruit and/or veggie juice for some meals. It is hard to be consistent though! When DH comes home tomorrow we are going to sit down and try to plan out some healthy meals. Any recipes that you guys love and work for you are always welcome!

I also was finally able to get back into the chiro last week after getting back from training. After being adjusted I can definitely feel more motion in my neck and back.

Oh, and random question, have any of you done any ABD trips? If so, where have you been, did you like it and would you go again?

Good luck to all of you in your training and our weight loss challenge this week!!

Hi Dave!

Thanks! I highly recommend it. I think we all deserve a birthday weekend. Afterall, it only comes once a year. :goodvibes
