Hakuna Matada - Hot, hot July!

Hi everyone quick drive by.

Vicky I am totally in, not worried about posting my weight, i am embarrassed of how high it is but need to own up to it.

Lynn: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Scott. How many years and congrats on the 20 pds that is awesome!!!! Also so glad the furbabies got a clean bill of health

Hi everyone!!!!

Hello team!

Vicky - I got Brooks Trance shoes, I had been wearing Saucony's. I tried the new shoes out yesterday and the left shoe rubbed against my little toe and gave me a blister. So, I'm going to try them once more but I don't think they're going to work.

The bacon chocolate cookies sound yummy.

I might be in for a team challenge. I'm looking to eat healthier and lose some weight so this might help motivate me.

Lynn - Great news on the dogs! Happy Anniversary!

AFM - Yesterday was our first run at run 3/ walk 1 min. I was worried that I'd really feel the reduction in walking time but it went pretty well. I don't think my new shoes are going to wrk, but I'm going to give them one more shot.

I had a softball game tonight. We got stomped by the other team, I spent a lot of time standing in the outfield. Luckily, there are mercy rules so once they got up by so many runs they got an automatic out.

Have a good night!

Emily

Emily isn't that weird with shoes, I also tried saucony once upon a time and it use to run bad at the back on top near my achillies they had just to high a back for me.

I love my brooks adrenalaines (sp) I loved the 8's, couldn't get use to the 9s but loved the 10's and now got the 11s in Maine haven't tried them yet but they felt awesome in the store.

Hi everyone! The weekend is almost here! Yay! I'll organize the Biggest Loser Challenge and post something tomorrow or Saturday. I think it will be a great motivate us and a great way to share exercise and healthy eating tips.

Again... I failed to wake up early and go for a run. So I will be running my 3 miler this evening. I met up with my friend Jennifer from baking class for dinner last night. I joked with her that we finally get to sit on a patio and people watch. Every Friday when we're going to class, we see people sitting on the patio with drinks and have patio envy :)

This weekend, I'm putting in some cutback miles. I'm changing the 13 miler to a 8 miler. I'm not sure how good it is to run all these consecutive half marathon distances  Plus this weekend is suppose to be another hot one so I don't feel bad about it.

Emily - Ouch! Sorry to hear about the shoes! Will you be able to return them? I've always had really good luck with NB and Asics. More recently Nike shoes as well.

Mary - I had the same problem with food and working out. From the people I've talked to, it seems that it's best to eat a protein source at every meal. Also trying to include dairy protein later in the day - yogurts for example will help to keep you full. And make sure you're drinking your water! I get those heat related headaches too. They take me out for the day. How's your wrist doing?

Dave - Congrats on your new PR! I like your quote! I will have to keep that one in mind :)

Have a great day everyone!! :wave2:

Vicky...I wish I could eat yogurt, but as I am lactose intolerant, it would only give me a belly ache. I have tried yogurt made with coconut milk, but I'm not sure it would have the same effect.

Hi Team!

Vicky- That makes sense. I’m in for the team weight loss challenge!! These bacon cookies just fascinate me. I’m not sure I would like them. I’m glad you had fun catching up with your chiro. Has anyone ever told you before that you need braces? I hope your run went well tonight!

Dave- Congrats on your awesome training walk yesterday and PR on that route!!!

Mary- Thanks!! Happy Belated Anniversary to you!!!!

Emily- I’m sorry your new shoes aren’t going to work. Did you get fitted at a running store? I’m glad your new run/walk intervals went well.

AFM, I’m glad the week is almost over. Then I just have to make it through one more week of training and then I’m done with the first half and don’t have to come back until August. But, it was brought to my attention today that when I have to go back the state fair will also be going which may increase traffic. Kyle drove up yesterday to surprise me at my hotel so that was an awesome surprise! It made my day! Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday tomorrow!! Anyone going to Harry Potter this weekend? Or tonight?

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck Dave! Give 'em your best GRRRR!! Can't wait to hear your race report!

July

16 - Trooper Island Race, Bowling Green, KY - Dave

A quick hi until I get home later. I'll update more at that point but work is CRAZY right now so I can't do more than that.

We're currently looking at the Red Lion Hotel near Disneyland and American Airlines as our flight choice. Not sure if anyone's used either before but any thoughts would be great! We're flying into SNA, not LAX, on the advice of a couple of LA friends I have.

Hi team! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Just got an email from ASI for a 21% off coupon code - FAMILYKEEPERS I thought I'd post it just in case anyone is thinking of ordering race prints or downloads.

Also tomorrow is the last day to order a WISH shirt if anyone wanted one. Mel typically does the orders only once a year. No pressure to get one - just a friendly reminder :)

My return to competition after almost 3 years went great. I'm still a long way from being at the level I want to be but very pleased with my second place overall.

Time to buckle down and train harder, lose my extra weight and get my Grrrr! on. Next competition is in 2 weeks.

Dave:hippie:

Hi, all,

Sorry for being away these past 2 weeks. My girls were out of school for a week's vacation and then back in for the new school year. Whew! I was unable to compete in my race last week because my ortho was still advising me not to run at all. Hope everyone is doing well. I see something about a weight loss challenge. I'm in whatever the details. ;)

Lynn: Happy belated anniversary!
Dave: Congrats on the race!
Emily: Good luck with your shoes. I hate the thought of having to replace mine soon. I don't enjoy trying new ones.

AFM: The swelling in my knee is down enough for me to return to running again. Signed up for the Princess half with my BFF and I think 2 other friends will tag along this year. Considering EE Challenge with my oldest DD next May, though I'm not certain it will be appropriate for her since she'll just be 11. She is anxious to try.

Happy training!

Good Evening Team! It looks like my post from last Thursday never made it. I cannot remember all that I posted at that time - but we headed to Steamboat Springs for the “Tour de Steamboat” bicycle ride. We were also scoping out the area for good places to watch the Pro Challenge Tour (Tour de Colorado) next month. We had a great time, weather was great. On Saturday, I rode the 25 mile course and Scott rode the 40 mile course. Later in the afternoon, there was a BBQ that was really good. We drove home Sunday and arrived to very hot weather! It is in the mid 90’s which is really hot for here, it is also very humid for us - in the 70 percent range, rather than our normal 40 percent range. We got out early for a bike ride this morning, 30 miles, and the dogs got their walk around the block.

Dave - Great to hear you did well on your race! Congrats on the weight loss!

Saylan - SNA is a better airport to fly into for DL than LAX, you made a good choise. We only use LAX if the flights are timed better or cheaper.

Elizabeth - Good to hear knee is better!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi team! Sorry to be MIA - things are just a bit busy at work so I keep trying to post but I can't seem to find enough time for it. I know I said I would set up the BL challenge so I'll try to get that done tonight. Hope everyone is staying cool with the crazy hot temperatures!

Dave - Congrats on your weight loss!! Fantastic!

Good Afternoon Team!

Hot here still! We got out for another 26 mile ride this morning before it warmed up, then got the lawn mowed. Tomorrow we are headed to Missouri for Scott's grandmother's 100th birthday party, we will not have internet while there (unless we sneak away to McDonalds), so have a great weekend all. We will be in Denver tomorrow, and fly out on Thursday, so we might have some internet access at the airport, but not sure, it is always iffy there. Good luck to all who are racing over the weekend!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

5 miles today; a little knee pain but not bad. Hope to get out earlier to avoid the heat tomorrow.

Looking to change my running calendar a bit but still planning to do the Princess half in February. Would love to do the January half but I don't think it is possible.

Lynn: Safe travels and happy 100th to Scott's grandmother!
Dave: Congrats on the weight loss!

Happy training, everyone!

Hello team!

Vicky - The shoe store has a 10 day return policy, so you can try them out and take them back if you don't like them.

Regina - We went to see Harry Potter last weekend. It was good, I thought it followed the book fairly well.

Lynn - Have a great trip!

Elizabeth - Glad your knee is getting better.

Dave - WTG on the weight loss!

AFM - I exchanged my shoes for a pair of Saucony Hurricanes. I've run in them twice and I like them much better.

We're half way through our training plan for DL, last weekend we did 7 miles.

It's hot here, too. It was in the upper 90s today.

Have a good night!
Emily
