Hakuna Matada - Fit, Fun and Fabulous in February

Work is crazy busy so I'm flying by.

Good luck to this weekends racers. Safe travels. Can't wait to read your race reports.

Have a great day everyone..........Sue

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - the electrical problems were the microwave (which should be on it's own circuit) was on the same circuit as all the lights in the kitchen, as well as lights in bathrooms, living room and dining room (all on 1 circuit). We understand that the electrician added 2 new circuits, I am assuming 1 for the microwave and 1 for the rest of the kitchen. Scott has been out of town, so I have not heard updates on the remodel for a few days.

I was really sore yesterday doing my Pilates and weights - you would think I hadn't done them in months, not just a couple days!

Good Morning Sue!

AFM - Weather was still nice yesterday, got in nice dog walk, did some Pilates and some weights, then 45 min on spin bike. Also got all my "in town" errands done. Today is colder, cloudy, and will snow later today, but not much wind, so dogs may still get their dog walk.

Safe travels to all going to races this weekend! Have great races!!!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Just a quick "drive by" to let you all know I'm still here. Been lurking alot, but not doing much. Did get a few walks in when the weather teased us with spring like temps, but otherwise it's been one trip to the gym and a few times on the TM at home. I downloaded an app to my iPhone called 200 sit ups and have been working on that as well.

Mike...we are staying at the DL hotel as well. We are arriving on Sept. 2 and checking out on the 7th. Ken and I stayed there for two nights on our honeymoon, so this will be a trip down memory lane for us.

Vicky...we may have to cancel our race for next month. We are trying to figure out a time when we can go to visit our DD in Denver, and that weekend is the best for her. I will keep you informed. Luckily, we haven't sent in our entry money yet!

Going to head out to the redbox and see if I can rent The Social Network. Ken has to work late tonight, so that means I can watch what I want to!

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck Saylan, Elizabeth and Beth :thumbsup2 Have a fantastic race and we can't wait to hear your RRs when you get back.

February
26 - NYRR Al Gordon Classic 4M - Beth
27 - princess: Disney's Princess Half Marathon princess: - Elizabeth, Saylan

Mary - 'The Social Network' is a fantastic movie! I thought it would be slow because of the subject but found the pacing to be just right. Definitely rent it if you get a chance! I think the 200 sit up challenge is from the same people who created the 100 push up challenge. I'm not good with push ups because of my lower back. But don't be a stranger and keep us posted on your progress!

Lynn - I felt the same way after my workout on Monday! That sounds like a lot of strain on the same circuit. I remember my parents' house had two bathrooms and the master bedroom wired together. It was "fun" when everyone was trying to get ready to go out. Lots of blown fuses because two hairdryers would run at the same time.

Sue - Not sure if you got an email but registration for the Acura 10-Miler (Aug 14th) opens on March 1st. There's a special 24 hour registration rate of $30 and then it goes back up to $50 on March 2. I'm going to register and use the race as a practice for Midsummer Night's. How's the running going?

Elizabeth/Saylan - Safe travels and have a great race! Good luck to you both :)

AFM - Well, I'm finally on the race calendar! I registered for MCM this morning. I think they're up to 90% as of 9AM - crazy because it just opened yesterday so I don't think it's even been 24-hours. So assuming I make it to October, MCM will fulfill one of my fitness goals of running two marathons in 2011! :cheer: I'm just happy to finally have a race to put up on the board!

I didn't have time to go to the gym yesterday but figured it was just as well since I was still sore from Monday  I did start week 4 of the pushup challenge and day 1 wasn't too bad. For the fifth set, you do as pushups as you can and I made it to 50! Not sure I'll be able to do that again because that was tough but it was the most I'd ever done in a single set.

The eating is going well - Yesterday I managed to go no added sugar! I'm doing a little competition with my friend to see who can lose the most weight. I'm doing my own diet (no added sugars, no white rice, pasta, breads etc) and exercise while he's on Atkins. I was more curious to see who loses weight more quickly. I also looked at some of the foods you had to eat on Atkins … definitely not for me because I'm not a big meat or egg person. The challenge also meant that I had to weigh myself … so I'm embarassed to say that I'm up 7.1 lbs since last August. Oops! On the one hand, it's not as bad as I thought it was … on the other hand, 7.1 lbs is not great. My goal is to drop 10 lbs by May.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

:bday: :cake: :cake: :bday:

party: Happy Birthday Kim!! party:

:bday:

Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Kim! Happy birthday to you!

Hope you have a fantastic day and fantastic birthday weekend!

(I'm posting it a little bit early but everyone knows I'm not a morning person so everyone's going to be up before I'll get to post.)

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - good luck on your weight loss challenge - you will have your work cut out for you, men lose faster than women, and Atkins is a fairly easy way to lose weight fast - but you put it right back on if you go back to normal eating.

Mary - Hope you enjoyed your evening at home alone watching movies!

Kim - Happy Birthday! Have a great day!

AFM - I fell off the wagon last night, Scott brought home cupcakes, and I broke down and ate one! Did get dogs out for a walk and an hour on the spin bike. Last night it started snowing (thankfully after Scott made it home from DC) and we now have 6 inches of new snow, and it will continue snowing off and on all day today - another 1-3 inches expected. We have a show to go to tonight - The Wizard of Oz - so hopefully the roads will be half decent. So far, no winds, so the snow has completely covered the ground and looks really pretty. Usually because of wind, we have bare ground and drifts from a snow storm.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Morning everyone!! I'm back from Florence!!!! I'm so sad that I had to come home - the idea of finding a job over there and just staying definitely occurred to me. I got one run in, but ended up cutting it a bit short - those cobblestones will do a number on you!! However, between the stairs in my hotel (trust me, the elevator was scary - tiny small (I rode it TWICE - once going up to the third floor with my luggage and once going down to the desk to check out), and you had to hold the button the whole time for it to work) going to the third floor, walking around and around Florence, and climbing 487 steps to the top of the Campanille one day and 463 steps to the top of the Duomo the next day definitely gave me a good workout!!

That said, I'm definitely NOT looking for anything but a finish in the 4M race tomorrow. Oy it's gonna be a system shock!! Still, I'm not going to run today or I'll end up hurting bad tomorrow. So... Back on the wagon next week!!!

Hope all are well!!

~beth

Happy Friday everyone! Anyone planning to watch the Oscars on Sunday? I don't know if I can stay up for the whole thing but I'm going to try :)

Beth - Welcome back! I was following along with the pictures you were posting on FB. I really like the architecture over there! I can't imagine running on cobblestone (or anything uneven) is pleasant.

I accidentally left your name off the list of weekend races  That was totally my fault! Sorry about that! Good luck tomorrow!!

Lynn - We're going to compare percentage of weight loss so hopefully that will be a little more fair. But I know what you mean about guys losing weight faster. Totally not fair!

Were the cupcakes good? (I would have eaten them too if it makes you feel any better).

Kim - Happy birthday!!

AFM - Worked out at the gym last night. It was my physio's last session with me and his second last day. It was kind of sad but he seemed excited about the new clinic he was going to. I was suppose to start my new sessions with the other physio that's there but he took on a new client in my Thursday timeslot so I may go downtown to work with someone else. The downtown guy is pretty hardcore so I know I'm going to get my butt kicked a lot. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Happy birthdays/ welcome back to Florence (still high on my list of cities i need to see--esp since i was an art history major)/ happy weekend!

Had a fitness day:

gym and 3 miles in treadmill
15 miles on a bike around celebration
finished with another 3 mile run/ jog

Hi Team!

Lynn- Thanks! So far I’ve had a few yard sale boxes, given some furniture to my brother and moved most of my boxes to my in laws’ home. It’s a little strange for me because most of the things I normally use are packed up and only the necessities are out right now. Most of my DVDs and the DVD stands are packed up as are a lot of the kitchen appliances. I guess if I end up living without them for 6 months it means I really don’t need them?? Ugh 6 inches of snow! I bet it is really pretty, but I would not want to be out driving in that. How was the Wizard of Oz?

Vicky- Thanks! No, I don’t have any knee high compression socks. I’ll have to check and see if I can find some. I would imagine the local running store would have some? Or maybe sports authority. I hope DH gets stationed somewhere good where there will be job opportunities for me to do something I actually enjoy and am interested in. He’ll find out this week where he will be going. Great job staying low sugar last week. Yay on registering for MCM!!! Good luck on your goal to lose weight. I agree with Lynn- it seems like men are able to lose weight faster than women. It also seems like all your people at your gym that you like are leaving.

Mary- How are you liking the 200 sit up challenge?

Kim- Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day!!

Beth- Glad you made it home safely.

Gerry- Great work out on Friday!

AFM, I went to the high school and ran today with Sydney. It was the best run I’ve had in awhile and it felt great. The weather was nice-almost 50 degrees and it was sunny. It was a little windy but not too bad. I felt like my pace was faster and more consistent than it has been since I’ve started getting back into it again. Sydney was dragging behind me when we finished. I think she was getting tired, which is odd because she still seemed to have plenty of energy to chase after her stick when we finished. My left shin still hurt a little off and on, but wasn’t too bad. I just ignored it. That’s about it for me! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and has a good start to their work week tomorrow.

Regina, WTG on getting out there and having a good run.

Not much new with me, I was kinda totally lazy this weekend, a little too much celebrating Friday night and just couldn't get my act together:headache:

Happy Monday Team!

Need to do the flyby today. Work is busy. My home laptop crapped out so not posting from home.

Kim, Happy belated birthday!

Vicky, Congrats on registering for MCM.

Beth, Sounds like you had a fantastic time in Florence.

Regina, I'm jealous about the 50 degree weather. Spring can't come soon enough.

Lynn, How was the Wizard?

Have a great day everyone.............Sue

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - No Oscars here, in fact, I had forgotten all about them until I read your post. Cupcake was OK, donuts I had Sat. morning were better.

Sue - Wizard of OZ was lots of fun!

Beth - Welcome back! Glad you had a good time!

Regina - Wizard of OZ was really fun. Snow is almost all melted after warmer temps. Sounds like you have the move under control.

Gerry - Good job on the fitness day!

Kim - Glad you had a good birthday!

AFM - The weekend was not bad, the weather was nice, except for the short snow storm yesterday that I ended up walking thru. Friday night out was fun, we ate only appetizers, so did not do too badly on food front, Wizard of OZ was great, they used some local kids in it who did a great job! On Sat. we again helped our friend with the dry wall in his kitchen, they again provided donuts and I again surcomed to temptation!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi everyone! Just checking in quickly...

Lynn - Donuts (and other treats) are hard to resist when you're working on big projects! I have a voucher for a free 1/2 dozen of donuts from Krispy Kreme but I'm trying to hold off for a couple of months. How are the renovations going? I had a pain au chocolat yesterday but Sunday is my cheat day so I let it go. The eating otherwise was pretty good :)

Sue - Looking forward to MCM even though it's months away! Love DC and love travelling! I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't somehow work the budget to get to Honolulu but if I can go to DC and Disney and still come out ahead, I don't think I can be disappointed. When's your next race?

Kim - What's a birthday without celebrations :) Sounds like you had a good time!

Regina - Good job on the run! Maybe Sydney gets bored running around the track because it's circular? Hope your shin feels better soon! Definitely try the compression socks if you can, they're a big help. I got mine from RunningSkirts.com

And yes, if you pack stuff up and don't miss it - you don't need it :) I figured that one out when my parents installed hardwood flooring into their house two years ago and I had to pack up everything in my room. It feels nicer with less "stuff".

Gerry - Great workout!

AFM - I stayed up waaay too late watching the Oscars last night. It was so-so and kind of predictable that 'The King's Speech' would win a lot of the awards. I was also surprised that Melissa Leo and Christian Bale won in their categories - they were both good in 'The Fighter' but I thought that Geoffrey Rush and Hailee Steinfeld were much better.

I'm headed to the gym tonight for a training session and then will stay for an extra 30 minutes to get in a bit of cardio. Seeing that tomorrow is March 1, I'll ask my chiro whether I can start running.

Oh and if anyone's looking to lose a bit of weight, there's a weight loss challenge that's being organized on the Leanies thread :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hi team! I'm running a bit behind but I'll get a March thread started tonight when I get back tonight. Sorry about that... keep posting here in the meantime :)

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - will look for the March thread tomorrow! I would have forgotten if you hadn't mentioned it!

Weather was really windy yesterday, so dogs did not get their walk, I promised them a longer walk today, when it is supposed to be really nice - so will try for 3 miles today. I did get on spin bike for 1 hour, but neglected Pilates and weights, so also will do those today (I'm afraid to say that I got sidetracked by the puzzle that I have set up downstairs, and before I knew it, it was time for dinner!)

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi, all,

I'm back from a great few days at WDW for the Princess Half. I had a wonderful time and I completed my first half marathon. I'll post a short race report on the March thread when we start that.

Back to reality!
