Are there hairdryers in the rooms at the Polynesian? If so , are they high power or pretty low? Lady who always dries her hair asking this question! :rolleyes2

yes they do and it worked fine for me

as I recall it is one of those standard room dryers but it worked just fine and I have super (well had til I chopped it off) long and thick curly hair so you should be fine

 THE POLY!!

Have a great time :wizard:

Thanks, I have super thick & curly hair too, and sometimes those room dryers just don't cut it.

You just saved me from packing mine! Thanks, Jamal

We were at the Poly last week, in Rapa Nui, and our room did not have a hair dryer. I was surprised, as the previous week, before our cruise, we stayed a couple days at POR and they had one. Not sure if it makes a difference, but this was one of the newly renovated rooms on the third floor.

Oh my. That doesn't bode well for me. Did you ask why there was no hair dryer? Did they switch you to a room with one?

No, I didn't ask them why there was no hairdryer...I just figured that the newly renovated rooms didn't have them anymore. I wasn't too concerned as I don't use them all the time, only when we are in a hurry in the morning.

Does anyone else know if it's true that the renovated Poly rooms no longer have hairdryers?

the renovated rooms do have hair dryers if they dont have one there ask for one...When we stayed in a renovated room at the poly we had one of those nice hair dryers that plug into the wall Much better then those bootleg ones that are attached to the wall :)

We stayed in a renovated room 2 weeks ago, and it had a hair dryer. It wasn't one of the built-in ones that hangs on the wall, it was a regular plug in type that you would have at home. It was under the sink on a shelf.

Hope that helps! If there isn't a dryer in the room, I'm sure all you would have to do is call down for one though, so I wouldn't worry about it. :thumbsup2

Opps! Sorry Mike N Kathy! We must have been posting at the same time! :)

Thanks guys - I know it might sound crazy to worry about a hairdryer - but with 3 kids, if there is anything that I don't have to pack - then I am one happy camper!! :thumbsup2

By the way - TX Tink & Mike N Kathy - what longhouses were you in? What was your opinion of the room as a whole? Thanks!

We were on the 3rd floor of Fiji, and we loved our room. The view was of the lagoon where the boats are kept, and the back of the volcano pool. We could see the Contemporary too! It was very nice. The room was larger than the other Disney deluxe rooms we have stayed in. Very comfortable! The only thing I missed though, was the double sink in the bath. Fiji is one of older longhouses so it didn't have a double sink like the newer ones. We didn't really mind, it's just one small "non-perfection".

It is a wonderful resort! You will love it there! :cool1:

ITA

and we were in the new Fiji rooms and ours did have a dryer...apparently I was wrong on my last post but it was a normal hairdryer and not an in the wall type thingy...it was a nice black one with green buttons now that I recall.

what an amazing place...the new rooms are superb and AHHH those beds and dh LOVED that huge flat screen...the kids LOVED the volcano pool...Ohanas was the best meal at WDW all week...it was just a super perfect vacation

you will LOVE it

Thanks again - I will definitely not pack the dryer then! :thumbsup2

Also, what are the new beds like? Guests sound very excited about the beds. I have read bits and pieces about the beds in other posts. But nothing more than "Ahh, the beds!" or "Wow, the beds are awesome!" Any more info on what is happening with the beds? Thanks again!

They are just really plush, home like beds...very soft and cozy (or maybe it was just because I walked 100 miles a day!!!) And they have big fluffy pillows on the beds too! Very very nice, seriously I am so S A D that we can not afford it for our summer trip and we are trying SOG...

My only thing was the air kept going off and we had to call someone to over ride that

and the electricity to the fridge kept going out but they fixed it right away!

Also I thought the bathroom smelled kind of musty but not terrible, just different, like swampy or something!! But it was really wonderful, they were just little things...

also I would of liked a balcony but we had 2nd fl Fiji (no balcony!!!) I gave up a balcony to get a new room....worth it but next time I will be more specific with requests...

Fiji had a great location, close to TTC and Pool and Luau cove, it was great!
We could watch the monorail go by but not hear the sounds of it! We could see the lagoon and the GF!! It was great!

We loved to go to the beach at night and watch Wishes...my girls loved to swim while the fireworks were going on!

Cpt Cooks was fine I thought but I am not picky nor am I a big eater...I am fine with pretty much everything~
get a mickey rice crispy treat!!! Do not leave WDW without one!! MMMMMM...
We also got a mug (using it now!!) and shared the drinks it was a wise investment.

We did walk from the TTC one night to the Poly, got to the Poly fine then got LOST in the dark on the grounds!!! :rotfl2: DUHHH!!

We never got any towel animals or special things like that but we DID get an anniversary card/photo from the MICE...and from the Poly!!! That was awesome!

We also had flowers waiting for us in our room...our TA had them delievered for our arrival!! She was so great!!! I wish I could use her again, but THIS trip is a budget trip (I have to keep reminding myself!!!) :teeth:

anything else???
