hair shampoo question

I grew up in the 60's (born in December 1959) and I remember my mother putting my hair in curlers and sitting under the hair dryer on Saturday afternoon so my hair would look nice for church on Sunday morning. I remember that the hair dryer was in a round suitcase looking thing and had a plastic hood that you put on. I remember her putting pink dippity doo in my hair and the curls would last all week. Now I wash my hair everyday. DD who is 15 washes her hair everydat too.

I work at the largest beauty professional/retail supplier chain in the U.S. I don't want to act like I know everything, but it all depends on you. Your cut, hair type, and products you use to style. After knowing some of the things that I now know, my hair has been a lot better to me. I used to use a lot of expensive brand name products and someone reccomended to me that I go to this beauty supply store and ask if they have generics to products I have been using, and if they can give me better suggestions. That was 2 years ago, and now I work there and keep sucking up all this great knowledge about beauty care.

I started a year ago washing my hair every other day, and it's never looked/felt better or healthier.
When I was young I had gorgeous hair, but since I died it from age 14-20 it got so horrible. I tried expensive shampoos, conditioners, everything. Finally I narrowed it down to using the sleek and smooth or whatever line from Pantene every other night and I deep condition once a week.
The second day (the day I don't wash my hair) it always looks so much better!

I've been noticing that the Survivor's hair doesn't really look that bad. I know if I didn't have shampoo for a month, my hair would be in thick oily clumps stuck to my head. Ah...the miracle of television...(I wonder if there might be some beauty products off camera to keep the women looking their perky best...Have you ever seen any of the women with long hair on their legs?)

And yes, when I was little, I washed once a week. My mom still goes to the salon once a week for a "shampoo and set," whatever that is:p . I guess she couldn't wash it more than that because because she'd lose the "set." I can't imagine!

Everyday for me. But, I don't often repeat the lather and rinse cycle. Is that a felony to not follow label directions???

;)

I also only wash my hair every other day or so, every third day if I'm not using much in the way of hair product for styling. Sometimes I'll wet it down in the shower without washing it. I don't have oily hair, it falls more into the dry category. When it was shorter, and required more styling products, I washed it every day.

i was about every third day. i'm a wash and wear girl. no hair spray etc. It's not unusual for me to come into work with my hair wet. I have also found that by switching between sauve and another brand of shampoo i get better results.
