Hair Professionals: Does Nioxin really work?

Just wondering.

Does it really grow back hair? Or does it let you keep what is already there?

How expensive is it? Does it take a month, or months to see results.

Please advise.

Are you talking about the Nioxin shampoos and conditioners or a specialized product? I use their shampoos/conditioners and they are no more expensive than other salon quality products and I seem to use way less of them than of others, the first bottles I bought are only about 1/2 empty after 6 weeks with two of us using them which is unusual for us!

I think so. It's a treatment, shampoo and conditioner that is suppose to promote hair growth or stop balding.

No it does not grow Hair back, And does not claim to do so. The companys concept is to 1) keep the hair you have healthy 2) keep your scalp clean & free of sebum build up so that new hair has a healthy place to grow.

I like it but I have to say I think the formula for regular hair drying. I would use the one for color treated hair.

I use the one for color treated hair, has done wonders for my scalp problems. I paid about $18 a bottle for each, so significantly less than what you're looking at.

It is VERY strong stuff according to my hairdresser and for the first two weeks or so it made my scalp worse (she said it would) but now it's cleared up a lot and my hair is a lot healthier than it was. Like I said I've been using it for about 6 weeks now.

my hair wasn't falling out like crazy when I was using it and my hair looked awesome...soft, flowing and luxurious...I used the color treated hair formula.....I've got to go pick up some more...certainly more expensive than my usual brand. I may mix shampoos every shower in order to stretch the bottle and still get the benefits.....I still have conditioner left.

I use Nioxin on a few of my clients. It is potent stuff. It does keep the scalp and follicles clean of excess product and sebum (oil) build-up to help promote stronger hair. The treatments are designed to raise/increase blood circulation to the hair follicles. Of the clients I use this on, they haven't lost any more hair....a couple seem to have "more" hair, but, not a MAJOR difference. (Like bald is not full and bushy now). I think it does a really good job at keeping what you have and keeping it fuller and healthier looking. Best you can do for your specific situation, is talk to a professional or Nioxin looking for information.

I have a 96' defenseman and we played in the JR. Flyers Tourney. Great competition. There were teams from CT (that's us), Rochester, NY, Maryland, Boston and Cleveland!

Love the shopping, too. Went to the King of Prussia and QVC Outlet. We stayed at the Sheraton in Great Valley. Nice place.

I use it on a client of mine....it does seem to work as far as keeping the hair she has stronger..... she hasn't lost any more hair since on the Nioxin system...and be careful when you apply it. I can't remember if it's that product or the Bionutrients...but one of them does increase blood flow to the follicle....so if any runs down the side of your face...you will have a redish streak where the product was. Not real bright or lasts long, but, you will see a streak.....

Thanks for the heads' up on the streaking. I guess a little can go a long way. It also seems that maybe using it every other day may be best. (Not to get irritated or sensitive).

Any other tips would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

In the class I took, they said it was important to not use any other shampoos while on the Nioxin system. I don't know if that's so they sell you more, or what...but, they said using a different shampoo can reclog the follicles-which you are cleansing and nourshing with the Nio. Don't know cuz the people I use it on, use it at home too.
