Is there any way you can "strip" your hair of chemicals? Like, anything you can do to remove a build-up of product on your hair?
I've been really flakey lately, and I use PERT dandruff shampoo/conditioner each time I shower. I don't know if it's a dandruff thing, or if it's a result of excess build-up.

I don't really know if there is anything like you're asking, but a few years ago I had dandruff near my roots and it was noticable when I brushed my hair. I started using Head and Shoulders. That stuff is amazing, and haven't had any since.

I used to use Head and Shoulders, but my mom refuses to buy it. IDK why.

gah, there's stuff that you can buy at salons that does that. you use the shampoo, then leave the conditioner in for 5 minutes. i forgot what it's called!!

Use a clarifying shampoo. It will say that on the bottle.

baking soda...

just mix like a tablespoon in with shampoo and let it set for awhile.

I do it about every other week in summer

I don't know, I'd be afraid that anything that would strip the build up would also strip my hair of a bunch of the natural oils.

also, cheap shampoos like vo5 or suave generally work well to strip hair of products. so does johnson & johnson baby shampoo. that works so wonderfull. we use it on wigs to stip out tons of hairsprays, dyes and gels.

Pert is a stripping shampoo. Stylists recommend to use it when you really want to get the chemicals off of your hair. I use Aveda cleansing shampoo once a week for a deep cleansing.

Baby shampoo!
I LOVELOVELOVE baby shampoo!

It's wierd but it works.

Also, try head & shoulders.

But i wouldnt try anything that would "strip" my hair, i dont think that it would just take away bad chemicals, it would probably take away good, natural oils.

I've had that happene to me twice. Once last September and once 2 summers ago. The first time it was because I wasnt rinsing all of the excess shampoo out of my hair. The second time was because I had an allergic reaction to the shampoo which cause my scalp to get dry and flaky, making it looked like I had dandruff. As soon as I switched shampoos though iit cleared up quickly.

I agree with what the others say, try switching to a different shampoo or a claryfying shampoo. Good Luck!

the conditioner you use restores the chemicals

I've noticed that i have build up but only in certain parts. So after my shower I took a comb and like scratched it back and forth to get the bulid up off my scalp and then I blow dried it out of my hair.
