My DD has gotten wraps on 2 past trips, both at the Boardwalk. She had them placed behind an ear rather beginning at the top of her head, and they both lasted more than 6 months. She's looking forward to getting another this summer.
My daughter also got a hair wrap at the Boardwalk and we took it out 4 months later because she wanted to cut about 3" of her hair and then wrap would have been too long. It was $2/inch, plus beads, but it really was the only thing she asked for.
On a related note, my husband got one too. He had it put "underneath" and behind his ear. Apparently he was feeling very inspired by Captain Jack! Can you imagine? His hair is a little on the longer side and it's thick and curly. When he went to work, he'd use a bobby pin to hide it. He's a sales rep and wears a jacket & tie to work every day! One time he was on the road with his boss and the strap from his bag somehow caught the bobby pin and down it came. His boss was stunned and told him to "put that thing away!" Months later and I'm still laughing about that scene.
