Not sure if anyone is familiar with an adjustable string backpack from Thirty-One? So that wouldn’t work? But if we had a Fanny pack type thing we would be fine? I just don’t wanna have to take time going to a locker with all the mobs of people getting ahead of us going to Hagrid‘s first thing in the morning before virtual queue starts.
My spouse's mask was falling down his face on Hagrid (although his glasses stayed plastered in place), so I'd think anything not absolutely firmly attached is gonna need a locker...that speed on that ride is something!

You also don't lose much time at Hagrids specifically, since everyone has to go past/through the lockers - it maybe takes you 1min. But note that it is the same rules for the other locker rides (MiB, Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, Mummy).
I used to rock the fanny pack every time I went to UO (well, it was a marine pack that looked a lot more manly so I had a little price). Since then I have finally got to the point of being able to only need to bring my phone and a couple of other small items, and wear zipper shorts. Highly recommend!
It hardly takes any time to put away stuff in the lockers, and the vast majority of people have to stop anyhow. Now that the social distancing is gone, they are not making you wait for an open locker area to let you in, so you just pop in and out and go. no big deal really.
