Had to stick my nose in...

I was waiting at the bus stop at the Poly, minding my own business when I found myself compelled to correct a CM. A frazzled Dad walked up to the transportation guy and asked how to get to Epcot. The CM told him to go to the Great Ceremonial House and take the monorail. The guy said he had just come from the GCH and they had told him he should walk. The CM scoffed and said "they are wrong. There are 2 monorails, one goes to MK, the other goes to Epcot". Usually I wouldn't say anything, but I could tell this Dad was already tired (and it was only 10 AM) and he didn't want to go back inside. I just said "you can walk over to the TTC and get the monorail to Epcot. The CM said the guy shouldn't do that because the Poly monorail was direct. "You just have to go over the first set of tracks and the outside monorail will take you there"!! I told him he could take the monorail but would have to change at the TTC. The guy was clearly confused as to the conflicting advise, but walked down the path so I hope he listened to me.
So, what do you do? Should I have butted in and corrected the CM, or just let the family wander around the Poly? (I kept having visions of the guy and his family climbing over the first rail at the monorail station)! As my DD said, "he had a clipboard, shouldn't he know how to get there?"

I would have jumped in to help too.

It is very confusing getting around disney and there are so many ways to get everywhere. Hearing conflicting advice is frustrating, but since he was on his way to walk from the other advice, you just gave him re-assurance he could get to go where he wanted from his current location.

I always appreciate when someone gives me a tip like that when standing around or on the bus at disney, or even better when I'm asking for help.

I would have and have done the same thing. If I am in the general area of the conversation I have chimed in after the CM or bus driver had given incorrect info, and just apologized for overhearing their converation, and provide them with better information

The discreet way to do it is to wait until the CM has finished talking and,a after the guests have started to walk away then say to them (the guests) that, "I know a quicker way," and mention your answer to the question.

:thumbsup2 You also have no idea of knowing if a CM is directed to route people a certain way for whatever reasons, be it safety or that there's a breakdown or accident somewhere they're rerouting around.

I would have waited for the CM to move away, then go over and give out the correct info. I would have been very tempted to ask that CM exactly how to get over to that outside track...it's the track for the Express Line, that makes stops only at the TTC and the MK..so unless you're a hobo type person, and can manage the jump onto the moving monorail, you aren't getting on that line at the Polynesian!!! I'm sure there is some way to get across the Resort Line tracks but I doubt that anyone should try it!!!

I really hate it when CMs give out completely incorrect info...drives me nuts. It would, in fact, be a lot faster to just walk over to the TTC from the Polynesian!!!

I would have gone one step beyond, if I'd been staying at or returning to the Polynesian at any point. I'd have mentioned the incident to a supervisor or manager in a vague way ("I overheard earlier/the other day...no, I really don't know who said it. I just thought you should know some wrong information is being given.")
