Had my first Dole Whip!!

My favorite is still the Citrus Swirl by the Tiki Birds, I had 5 in one day (My Birthday ) on 3/22/03 My wife said okay ,this time you can have as many as you want

Had my first Dole Whip also(last week)........wow. So refreshing. The CM said that the only other place you could get a dole whip was Hawaii. They had combos of pineapple and vanilla, etc. Just pineapple for me! I also have to have my Mickey Bar. If you saw Disney...Unwrapped.....there are many things you would want to try there! Yum.

I thought I was the only one! After all these years of going to WDW I finally tried a Dole Whip in May. I didn't like it, I was kind of disappointned.

They are in Adventureland at the MK.
I sent my husband to get one. He came back with something that was more icy like a snow cone than really creamy like ice cream. Did I get the right thing? It was just ok. I really wanted creamy.
Pineapple sherbet might be a good substitute?

Are the ones in MK unique? I was driving recently and spotted a little ice-cream place that had a sign in the window advertising Dole Whips. I grabbed one and it was good, but not a replacement (to me) for the Blizzard-type concoctions all these places make. I'll have to try the one in MK next time to see if they are different.

It is soft serve ice cream. They also have a 'float' that is soft serve in a glass of pineapple juice. Looked good too. Then they have blends of other flavors with the pineapple...not sure what the flavors are besides vanilla. Yum.

you mentioned Konk coolers at Castaway Cay - oh my goodness - I have so many of these on the ship that I just about conk out on them. They are SOOOO yummy. I ordered them from the bars on the ship before we ever got to CC and the CM's said, "have you cruised before? I say yes, and they say that nobody orders these unless it is after CC or unless they ahve cruised before. Some of the bar tenders didn't even know how to make them, but they always went and got someone who did. Now that's service!

Still haven't tried a Dole Whip though!

After a recent trip to Hawaii's Dole Plantation (on Oahu) where we had Dole Whip, DH and I also found it at several small (really small) snack stands on the island. I got the idea that it would be fun to start a Dole Whip concession stand here in HOT HOT Sacramento. I tracked down the product which is a non-dairy mix that you put into a soft-serve ice cream machine. There are several other fruit flavors as well as vanilla/fruit swirl. The product is made by Dole and distributed by Precision Foods. Unfortunately when we contacted the Precision Foods' rep for our area, they were very unknowledgable and unhelpful. Most disappointing was that they do nothing at all to market the product and yet are completely unable to understand the need to offer a protected territory to a small retailer who would be investing in equipment and advertising. So ultimately we had to give up the idea. But if you are already a snack retailer and have an ice cream machine, you can order the product and sell it, as long as you don't mind the guy down the street also getting your idea, piggybacking on your advertising, and competing with you. Oh, and if you do start to sell it in Sacramento, let me know and I'll be your first customer.

I bought all of the ingrediants last night for the Conk Cooler and the Dole Whip. I'll be sitting by the pool one in eadh hand............ even if it is raining. I may look silly, but I'll be in paradise.
