We made it to the Festival on Tuesday. The food was delicious! Stuff that I'd never get to eat. It was fun trying all of the different kinds of wine. It was even more fun being able to walk around the world! Between the food, drink & shows we were busy all night.

As always I 'travel' the world backwards. Initially, we made a right heading towards Canada. Canada had delicous cheese soup & salmon cooked in maple syrup and covered in pecans. We also love the beef strognoff in Russia. Off Kilter, the Canadian band (in kilts) was excellent. We sat and watched while eating/drinking. Dh also got chilled mussels which I didn't try. (I think that was New Zealand.) Next we watched the British Invasion already in progress. In France I stopped to get their chocolate crepes but didn't get anything from the Festival booth.

Next we rushed over to Morocco. The band wasn't playing because of the rain so we were disapointed but then kept going after making our purchases. In Italy we had a pairing of wine/chocolate for $6.50. The wine was delicous & so was the chocolate. I was also surprised to see the living statutes there. For some reason, I thought that they were in France. At various time thru the day we saw a female & then a male statute. We love watching them! I don't see how they do it. The kidz love 'em.

As for Three Dog Night. We watched all three sets. We found that the sets were almost exactly the same but they changed the order & a couple songs. They never played Eli's Coming or some of the other songs we knew. They always ended their encore with Joy to the World. The music was excellent - they performed very well. However, we were hoping to hear different songs in the three different sets. When we saw Arlo Gutherie at Flower Power a couple of years ago he changed the songs each set & the final set he played all of his famous songs. Dh had seen 3 Dog Night in 1970 so he loved seeing them again. It was a fun performance.

All of the food was good. I had three different plum wines. Its amazing how different they can taste even though they were all plum wine. Dh loved the Japanese seafood best. (I can't remember what he ate - it was something wrapped in yellow.) I loved the American soup: lobster corn chowder. It was soooo good. Amazing! I was surprised how many people in America opted for the burger & fries. When we took our kids a couple of years ago they enjoyed trying all of the different foods. Of course, they ended with pizza in Italy, but along the way they tried new cuisine & loved it. They even loved the escargot in France - they didn't have that this year, though.

Australia had a tasting exhibit. You pay $5 and try 5 different wines from 5 different regions. Australian guides explained the wine, area & the maps showed where the wines came from.

This festival is such fun! I love it and so does dh! Its worth the time and money. It was great getting away from home. The nice thing is spending the whole day there. We didn't do any rides or regular exhibits. We spent the whole time on festival stuff. It was worth it! It was also nice not bringing the kids. We were able to do what we wanted to do for a change without trying to keep up with the kids. If you get a chance to go: Go!!!

Hey were at Three Dog Night too on Tuesday, we stayed for the last two sets. I was really surprised it wasn't more crowded. Were you part of the groupies in the front row jumping up and down to LIAR!? We did the Australian walk-about also. Loved all the same stuff. It was great, our kids never would have stood in line for the food though. We had a much better time than we thought we would just eating and drinking.

Nope, we weren't the fans in the front but saw them. I wondered if they were family of someone in the group. A couple of them were too young to be fans. (the blonde girl & guy looked like twenties or teens (at least from behind)). I think the rain scared off alot of people. I know that during the first set we had our ponchos on.

I see you love labs too. We have a black lab mix. She's such a sweetie. Right now we're battling ticks. Its awful!

Thanks for the review! I plan on checking it out next Friday. I'm looking forward to the Chic concert too but I would have loved to have seen 3 Dog Night! I'm in my 20's and I love their music. I like just about everyone they are having there this time. I'm really looking forward to grazing my way through all the countries. :teeth:

Have fun, Michelle but watch out for the construction between Haines City & Celebration on I-4. They're doing some kind of building and there was dust/dirt all over the place. North of the place where Boardwalk & Baseball used to be if you know where that is. Seems like there is always some type of construction on 14 somewhere. We loved the bands! I hope yours will be good too.

Yuck, I was hoping they might be done with all that construction stuff. Thanks for the heads up, it's probably gotten worse since I went a couple of weeks ago. It looked like they were just getting started in that area then.

Thanks so much for posting. The F&W Festival just sounds wonderful. I cannot wait to get there in a few weeks.

We use Frontline faithfully for ticks. So far it has worked for us. Lyme is bad around here, our vet has lost several dogs to it, and our neighbors across the street lost their Golden. Good Luck.

Thats awful about the golden. We only use Frontline when she seems to need it, which is probably why we're suffering now. She went 2 years without one tick and then all at once she had 'em again. I think the Frontline probably has to build up in her system to work so we may have to give her some several months in a row. Several years ago the same thing happened. All I have to do is say the word 'tic' and she goes nutz. She hates 'em. Thanks for the advice about Frontline - at least we're using a good product - we just have to wait for it to work.

A bit OT but a public service announcement for pets with fleas / ticks. We have a black lab-boxer-retriever mix, talk about a sweetie. Our first dog had fleas bad the first year we had him. The following spring I put diazonon crystals in the yard, you only need to do it once every 4 - 5 years. Haven't seen a flea or tick in 16 years now.

The booth was South Asia, I think, and it was near Great Britain and Canada. DH got the Shrimp and Noodle Soup. Yuck!! :scared: Gag!! :crazy2: It was pure salt, and if you can get past that, the underlying flavor left much to be desired. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN BOTHER TRYING IT. IT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF YOUR FEW DOLLARS!

May I suggest spending them on. . .
The Flourless Choco. Cake near Great Britain.
Creamy Rice with Strawberry Sauce near Norway (sound weird, but it's like rice pudding).
