We made it to the Festival on Tuesday. The food was delicious! Stuff that I'd never get to eat. It was fun trying all of the different kinds of wine. It was even more fun being able to walk around the world! Between the food, drink & shows we were busy all night.
As always I 'travel' the world backwards. Initially, we made a right heading towards Canada. Canada had delicous cheese soup & salmon cooked in maple syrup and covered in pecans. We also love the beef strognoff in Russia. Off Kilter, the Canadian band (in kilts) was excellent. We sat and watched while eating/drinking. Dh also got chilled mussels which I didn't try. (I think that was New Zealand.) Next we watched the British Invasion already in progress. In France I stopped to get their chocolate crepes but didn't get anything from the Festival booth.
Next we rushed over to Morocco. The band wasn't playing because of the rain so we were disapointed but then kept going after making our purchases. In Italy we had a pairing of wine/chocolate for $6.50. The wine was delicous & so was the chocolate. I was also surprised to see the living statutes there. For some reason, I thought that they were in France. At various time thru the day we saw a female & then a male statute. We love watching them! I don't see how they do it. The kidz love 'em.
As for Three Dog Night. We watched all three sets. We found that the sets were almost exactly the same but they changed the order & a couple songs. They never played Eli's Coming or some of the other songs we knew. They always ended their encore with Joy to the World. The music was excellent - they performed very well. However, we were hoping to hear different songs in the three different sets. When we saw Arlo Gutherie at Flower Power a couple of years ago he changed the songs each set & the final set he played all of his famous songs. Dh had seen 3 Dog Night in 1970 so he loved seeing them again. It was a fun performance.
All of the food was good. I had three different plum wines. Its amazing how different they can taste even though they were all plum wine. Dh loved the Japanese seafood best. (I can't remember what he ate - it was something wrapped in yellow.) I loved the American soup: lobster corn chowder. It was soooo good. Amazing! I was surprised how many people in America opted for the burger & fries. When we took our kids a couple of years ago they enjoyed trying all of the different foods. Of course, they ended with pizza in Italy, but along the way they tried new cuisine & loved it. They even loved the escargot in France - they didn't have that this year, though.
Australia had a tasting exhibit. You pay $5 and try 5 different wines from 5 different regions. Australian guides explained the wine, area & the maps showed where the wines came from.
This festival is such fun! I love it and so does dh! Its worth the time and money. It was great getting away from home. The nice thing is spending the whole day there. We didn't do any rides or regular exhibits. We spent the whole time on festival stuff. It was worth it! It was also nice not bringing the kids. We were able to do what we wanted to do for a change without trying to keep up with the kids. If you get a chance to go: Go!!!

Gag!!
It was pure salt, and if you can get past that, the underlying flavor left much to be desired. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN BOTHER TRYING IT. IT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF YOUR FEW DOLLARS!
