I had a pretty rotten day and could use some happy thoughts of VWL to perk me up! :)

Thanks!

Sorry you had a bad day! VWL is just beautiful. There is one public area that has several rocking chairs and a fireplace (no heat really, just pretty gas fire) that is so relaxing to sit in. My DH and I just talked there one afternoon and I read a book for awhile and no one came in during that time. It was a big change fromthe parks. What a relaxing atmosphere!

Took :) :) :)

I like the rocking chairs on the porch.

You will be there when it is decorated for Christmas!!! :cool1:

The Xmas decorations will be up! They are beautiful and perfectly suited to the theme of the Lodge. There will be a giant tree in the lobby, stories tall. It will be decorated in traditional reds and greens. There are also lots of wreaths and smaller trees around. We got GREAT pictures!

Make sure to walk down to the Villas end of the Lodge. It has some beautiful sitting rooms and a lovely atrium. Stop by the front desk before you go and get the list of "hidden Micekys." It is fun to search for them as you stroll. There is a 3-d Mickey head that is actually carved into one of the giant beams in the atrium "lobby" of the Villas. He is hard to find but one of the cutest Mickeys I have ever seen on property! :)

The Lodge SMELLS good. It is amazing that they made the place not only LOOK different from the rest of FLorida but also SMELL different... There are cedar trees in the landscaping and they make the most wonderful scent. The lanterns at the Lodge are set to "flicker" at night and there are tapes of bullfrogs and crickets. It is a wonderful effect that makes all your troubles disappear.

Don't forget the wonderful quiet pool at the Villas end of the property. It is much more peaceful than the main pool. Enjoy a fluffy drink at the pool bar and sit and look at the lake. There is a secluded little beach near there!

If you have time, go on the "Wonders of the Lodge" tour. My son and I went and we learned a lot of interesting things! The young man who led the tour was great (the famed Stan was busy that day) and had lots of great info to share. We even got to see a Hidden Mickey in the empty Artist Point restaurant.

The Lodge is green and fragrant and gorgeous. It is breathtaking when you enter the lobby and equally impressive when you consider the courtyard from the area toward the lake. It is massive yet somehow still cozy. I know you will love it! Enjoy!

Hope you're feeling better! WOW...Colleen Costello...you transported me to the WL @ Christmas time! :goodvibes Your description, and suggestions (love the "hidden Mickey" search sheet) are FABULOUS! I'm sure the OP is feeling 100% better after reading your post. :cloud9: :wizard:

I like the lobby in the villa area....it is a train themed room with pics of Walt from his early years. It has big comfy leather chairs, a sofa, and a fireplace. It was so relaxing!

Thanks everyone! This makes me even more excited than before! I decided to start a blog that tracks our trip from planning to the trip itself. I thought it would be a good way to do a photo album as well. I tried to put it in my signature, but I guess HTML is off and it is not working? Anyway, hopefully it is down there!

I'm going to copy some of your posts about the Villas into the blog if that's okay. You guys put me in the mood so well!

:)

One thing to say about VWL - peace & quiet when you need it. Add the holiday decorations on top of that and your are making me want to go back! Have a better day tomorrow! :sunny:
