Is there anyone out there who likes this for dinner. We have it booked for Fantasmic in April and I have been reading all of the negative comments and am now worried. I am thinking of changing to Mama Melrose, but am worried because I have so many picky eaters to worry about. Please respond if you have a good comment to add.

I doubt you will be able to get a Fantasmic DP at Mama Melrose at this time for your April trip.

I'm sure everyone will be able to find something to eat. I'm rather picky and I ate Chicken and Pizza I think in 2008. It was definately the worst buffet I ate at.

H&V I don't think is good at all... especially for picky eaters. Everythign on the buffet seemed 'weird' to me, being a picky eater. Corn & chicken nuggest on the kids' side, and some rolls is pretty much all I had found to eat. Only time I WOULD recommend it is if on Thanksgiving Day - at least then there is turkey and stuffing, etc. But for the most part, I just find the offerings on the buffet kind of odd, and definitely not appealing to a picky eater.

We went to Hollywood and Vine back in 2005 and it was good but the waitresses were rude. They just seem to have a chip for some reason and we waited a long time but the food was plenty and quite a variety. We are giving it another try. As we thought Mama Melrose this past year was ok but not anything we were remotely acquainted with food wise. I ordered a tuna steak and it was soo dry. The kids ordered a shrimp and pasta dish that they no longer offer from what I am seeing so the kids voted it off the list. Too bad we need a meal it to go to fantasmic on the 4th of July. This to me is just dirty pool by Disney. I know I should not feel that way but it seems I am getting more and more perturbed in my age at things like this.

It seems I may be the *only* person who has had a positive experience with H&V! We went several years ago as walk-ups and didn't know a thing about the place beforehand, good or bad--this was before I joined the DIS! :disrocks: We were pleasantly surprised that the food was good and the waitstaff was nice enough. It was nothing that will go down in culinary history, but it was exactly what we needed at the time.

I agree with the last poster...we went in Aug 08 and I have three picky eaters and everyone found something they liked. Hubby was pleasantly surprised also. We went back in March 09 and had the same experience. It's not Victoria and Alberts by any means...it's a buffet and there's AC and hot food. Place to sit and rest for the hour and getting fantasmic entrance was a bonus!

We did the Fantasmic! Dinner Package with H&V this past Sept. I hadn't remembered ever being there before, and I was worried about negative reviews. We were two adults (I and DD26), no kids, and we were pleasantly surprised. DD is a foodie, and somewhat picky. The food offerings were different, and creative, not your usual buffet (like Shoney's). I thought the different offerings elevated the experience, not detracted. There was more than plenty to choose from, and the ice cream machine was going constantly. There were many large groups, and spills occurred here and there. But the staff was polished and kept up with the chaos. Seemed like a good place to eat, to us. :)

We did Fantasmic Dinner package w/ H&V in 2006. We were happy w/ the buffet. Two of us have food sensitivities and were able to eat there. Food was fine, but IMO, if looking for "good" or "great" food, then skip the buffets.

we've eaten there over the last 3 trips- once for F!- and enjoyed it...i really dont get the negativity- i mean i can understand bad service. i have one picky eater, ds and myself with a lot of dietary needs(crohns) and we've always had no issues with finding food for all four of us. we did the dinner, ad then a regular dinner last year and then lunch with handy manny and friends last month.

we also did mamma melrose last year, and i love italian...that place not so much.

Thanks for all the replies. I think we will keep our H&V reservation. It seems like a safer bet for my family where if nothing else, DH WILL eat from the kids selections.
